i'm a bit lazy, and playing this game is a moment of zen for me. i'd really like to double click to rain destruction, but if the second click falls off target (which happens a lot when things are moving), you end up driving to that point instead. so i click once and use ctrl to attack, which does the trick - but double click would be just as cool if the second click didn't need to be exactly on target.

also, it would be very cool if the bid alert in auction would show the new highest bidder so we wouldn't have to scroll back just to see if our bid was good. that would be so cool.

So click in the general area of a target and auto lock them?

    No

  3. I agree with Full_force, that's basically autolocking..it could also lead to many misfires.

    auto-lock?

if you manage to click on someone with the first click, it's the same as clicking and then using a hot key. and if you double click then aren't you trying to attack?

where did you read clicking in the general area of the target? - you click on the target. i just think the second double click should not have to be right on as well, because that's what makes it pretty unwieldy compared to using a hot key. a hot key wont make you drive toward a point in space that you didn't intend to go, etc.

does this really not make any sense?

Just use 1 click and ctrl ...
It is just as quick and saves the confusion of this new system which could cause a lot of problems:

In a heated group fight? Lock your clan member by accident as they fly over an enemy? That's fine just quickly relock the enemy, oh no the system will think you want to attack your clan member and so probably cause you to lose the fight.

  6. This is exactly what I meant.

I agree with above statements, it's almost like auto lock. People shouldn't be able to click on someone and just have the computer do the rest of the work.

If you are lazy, try to invest in a number pad, or external keyboard, that way, you can just put it on your lap and not have to move at all.

I still don't see the difference. if you're using double click to attack and you lock a friendly ship by mistake you're gong to attack anyway. that's way there's a setting to not have double click attacks. it really doesn't seem like anyone understands what I'm talking about.

all I'm saying is that if the second click, and only the second click of a double click is off by a few pixels it should still launch the attack, making it just as effective as click + ctrl.

the second click of a double click mouse event shouldn't count as a screen click. if you have the double clicking attack option set, then it should just go ahead and launch the attack. this wouldn't make anything crazy. all it would do is make double clicking to attack not slip so easily. if you click on a friendly ship and immediately hit ctrl you're going to attack all the same.
