Nyx Weekly & Monthly Quests

    Remember the winter quests where you had to unlock the weekly quest by completing so many of the ones during the week, and then unlock the monthly quest by doing, I believe, 3 out of 4 of the weekly quests?

    How about incorporating this into the nyx station on a permanent basis with the reward for the monthly quest to include 1 lf4?

    Instead of 2 quests with 1 easy and 1 hard just have a "normal" type level of mission so upon completing all the required missions a player could obtain 1 lf4 per month from doing the nyx quests.

    This would benefit in many ways since there would be more players in the maps completing these quests, players would have another way to access the elusive lf4 thus helping to address the imbalance issue slightly and players would feel BP is doing more to help them hopefully reducing the cynicism many feel towards DO.

    So many people are telling you that the reason players don't stick around is because the amount of time/money that is required to make the game survivable is too great. Once the new player realises this they are gone. Give them more incentive to believe they progress and they will be more likely to stick around.

    You've done a lot of work recently to update the look of the game but as many have pointed out unless you give the new players more hope and reason to grind their way to ufe there will be less and less reason for a new player to spend the silly amount of money they need to achieve that status. A game is nothing without players in it.

    Most of what I have written here is directed towards the developers of the game but I would appreciate any players comments regarding the idea I have suggested about incorporating some weekly and monthly quests into the nyx station with a monthly lf4 reward.

  2. You brought up a great idea and Yes game support has been outstanding the past few months. In 7 years of game play I have not seen this much care for what the game community cares about. Support is finally taking our ideas and attempting to bring them in game. The newest voucher for a free extra hanger and spearhead was a spectacular idea and I praise support over this move. They always have said they want to bring in more players and this is a step in that direction.

    I agree with that although it seems quite a shame that not everyone has received this awesome gift. That's going to upset quite a few people I think. Why should some players get a brand new spearhead while others get nothing. (Yes they are signed up to newsletter... yes, they have checked their spam folder)

  6. Somewhat decent, but I disagree with a lf4... Don't need DO getting too easy when we all had it rough.

    Good idea still alot of work to get for LF-4s but wayyy better then now.

    So from the title i am guessing it is 1 time a week and then a mega one once a month.

    The monthly quest would be an Lf-4. So lets see best case to get max lf-4s.

    Leo 6 months, 20 with 8 drones and 26 with 10 drones.
    Aegis/vengence 10 months, 26 months with 8 drones and 30 with drones
    Goli 15 months, 31 months with 8 drones and 35 with 10 drones

    No counting the pet.

    The top tier ships would at best be about 2-2 1/2 years.

    Other ships would be faster but didn't care to call them up.

    Nah at least 5 out of 7.

    What about the weekly quests i didn't see what you think their rewards would be?

    I think that was a TGC only voucher the normal voucher from the newsletter for me was just ammo.

    I don't think 12 lf4 per year is going to make it too easy. It's more about trying to help bridge the ridiculous gap between fe and ufe and give players more of a chance to get there. FEs are still going to get popped left and right by UFEs but this idea might be the incentive that some of them need to carry on and not just quit.

    Thanks, I made a mistake... It should have read 3/4 of the weekly quests needed to unlock the monthly quest and yes 5/7 of the daily to unlock the weekly. I don't know about the reward for weekly quest. The main driver for the idea was the monthly lf4 reward.

    Yes, you understood what I was getting at and as you have helpfully worked out it's still going to be a long term way to fill a ship with lf4s but it just gives more chance for players to get there and be rewarded for actually playing the game in the maps instead of WW grinding gates with money.

    More players in the maps is what this game needs rather than the occasional new player that might get hooked, spend a load, then fly around empty maps with nobody else to shoot.

    If you played for a full year and got 12 lf4, how is that a give away? You are doing the quests to do it. Working your butt off really, very very very few have time to be able to do this every month in the first place, it is not a give a way, but a goal. I have 14 lf4 -_- and they are a pain to get. I hit decently and pvp well enough and am happy with what i can do, it would be still nearly 2 years to get full lf4 on a goli with this implemented IF and only if i played nearly everyday for a year...

    +1 on the idea, quests would need to be worked on, difficulties, time limits, etc. But its a good base for an idea.

  12. I would say the quests need to be nice and hard. None of this kill 30 saimons with rockets foolishness or collect 100 duranium. Something like, kill 15 bks, or 3 cubes, or 20 barracudas...ect. Also, make it 6/7 daily and 4/4 weekly quests that you have to do. Honestly, I agree with dream demon that getting 12 LF4s like this is almost like a give away. I've been playing almost a year on this file and I only have 4 LF4s.
    I like this because I am greedy for more xD. Also, the quests need to have 24 hour limits.

    Thanks again for your feedback on the idea. I suggested the quests should be somewhere between the easy and the hard quests we had to do for the winter quest. Having said some of those hard quests were pretty easy still.

    15 bks, 3 cubes, 20 barras etc - seems reasonable I think. They should be reasonable "doable" by someone that is fully elite but not so easy that ufe can do them in a minute.

    I agree with your requirements on 6/7 daily and 4/4 weekly to unlock the monthly. This this much commitment needed I don't think it's a give-away as such and if the quests are well thought out it's almost guaranteed to get more players in more maps.

    Maybe some of you have some ideas for some of the quests that could be set up?

    Daily Quest Ideas:
    • Collect 100 bonus boxes in 4-1, Collect 100 bonus boxes in 4-2, Collect 100 bonus boxes in 4-3
    • Travel to the coordinates of every rock/cbs
    • Collect 50 pally in 5-1
    • Destroy 3 of each type of alien in the lower maps (bosses included)
    • Use 5000 pet fuel
    • Use 30,000 laser ammo
    • Spend 10 minutes in an enemy map uncloaked
    Weekly Quest Ideas:
    • Use 100,000 laser ammo
    • Collect 300 bonus boxes in 4-1, Collect 300 bonus boxes in 4-2, Collect 300 bonus boxes in 4-3
    • Destroy 5 of each type of alien in own company upper maps and 3 of each in enemy upper maps (bosses included)
    • Travel a distance of 250,000 and sell 10,000 promerium

    Monthly Quest Ideas:
    • Destroy 4 of each type of alien in every map (4-5 not included)
    • Destroy 50 of each type of pirate (Battleray not included) and 1 of each type of uber
    • Collect 1000 bonus boxes in 4-1, Collect 1000 bonus boxes in 4-2, Collect 1000 bonus boxes in 4-3
    • Destroy x number of BK where x = your level multiplied by 5 eg. level 23 must destroy 115 BK, level 10 only needs 40
    The thinking is to add something more to the game for people to work towards; to get players into the maps that are connected to other quests; to give people an incentive to want to play each day and feel like they are getting somewhere.

    People have to work for these lf4s, they aren't just given out. I've tried to balance these ideas for the quests but would appreciate other peoples input. Hopefully the developers will realise there is merit to this idea and look into getting it implemented as player numbers are not looking very good these days.

    Do you use booty keys bought with uri? By your definition. Thats a give away. Same with bonus/special event boxes. Trade has well. Vouchers thats a give away by your definition.

    12 lf-4s a year if all the quests are done is not a freaking give away a give away would be 12 at once.
     
  15. I think that the above quests are a little overkill to be honest but eh, your plans. Perhaps a level division for the quests would be better as noobs cannot go and kill 50 of each pirate in 24 hours.(if that's your plan for a time limit)

    Fair enough, but that was a suggestion for a monthly quest and that's not meant to be easy. I don't think 50 anni, 50 barra, 50 sab & 50 inters in 24 hours is too over the top for someone that is fully elite, especially if they outfit up as players often do to help complete that quest faster. You mentioned a level division... similar to the BK monthly quest suggestion or something different?

    Those quest ideas were just my suggestions to give people a bit more detail to the idea so hopefully they can see how it would benefit the game and maybe give the idea a bit more support.

    I know it's wishful thinking but would be really nice to hear from a developer (looks towards Rick) regarding this so we can continue to expand the idea or just give up like so many forgotten noobs.
     
  17. Many have asked for daily better quests and they gave us a bunch of high ep, low uri quests. I'm not sure about this, but I bet that no one wanted that. I would definitely do these quests not only for the LF4, but also for the fun of accomplishing something everyday.
     
  18. Those quests are horrible, most of them are atleast. the battle maps one? on GA1 MMO and EIC would get no where near 30 bonus boxes, 20 if that, because vru owns them with battle stations, and yeah, we all know the cheats are there too.

    50 pally in 5-1? there are what? 3 pieces every 5 mins in here? NO.

    waste 100k laser ammo? Lol how many people you think have 100k? I get asked how much I have all the time, and people always go "oh wow I only have 20k" And why would I waste all my ammo for a stupid quest, to where if this bonus boxes were part of the missions in bms, I wouldn't get them done in the first place, unless I wanna die a crap ton of times to cheats using their auto locks.

    1 type of each uber? With the lag, I can't pull off a ubk solo without skipping into its ridiculous range over and over again. Plus again, the magic players, or just the group of pansies, I was in 4-5 the other day leaving everyone alone, and 2 vru decide to jump me, nearly killed both, but with them both emping and one in solace and me having x3, it was a bit difficult, had to get them alone. And then after that a group of 5 vru kept uncloaking on me, only managed to kill me once cause of lag.

    One thing tho, lets not forget the people who already have almost all lf4 , they need something to do too, so i suggest an alternative reward for this type of people .

    Thanks for your feedback however negative it may be. Perhaps you could suggest some quests that might be better for the server you play on to make it more reasonable? I only play one server so my thoughts are obviously quite biased.

    Battle maps are empty on our server and I've seen quite a few posts about trying to get players in those maps so assumed it was the same on most servers. This was the thinking behind the bonus box in pvp map quests.

    The pally in 5-1 respawns the same as 5-3. Once a certain percentage is collected it respawns. I did a quest there the other day and it looked like it was respawning when there were 2 pieces of pally remaining. It's not really a huge area to cover and would give people a reason to go into the map. How else can people on dead servers complete the "kill x players in 5-1" quest without asking people for 1v1s there? Took me a matter of minutes to collect 50 pally.

    "waste" 100k of laser ammo. How many people do I think have over 100k? I have no idea but I'm pretty sure everyone can afford 100k of x1 ammo in one day. Even with the ammo capacity limit x1 can be bought with laser buy cpu.

    1 of each uber is part of a monthly quest. Sorry that you have lag so that you can't solo a UBK without getting hit by it but remember if there's many people doing these quests then it shouldn't be so hard to outfit up and get the harder parts done together.

    Again, it's not meant to be easy but it's also not meant to be impossible. I would welcome any suggestions you have to improve/refine the quests instead of just shooting them down. On the one hand you say no to the idea as you don't want lf4s "given away" too easily but then on the other you say no because the quests on that server you mentioned would be too hard.

    Would you be able to take some time to suggest some things that would be more balanced in your opinion and make the idea more viable on your server(s)?
