When I first saw on the test server that you could see the current bid I didn't like it. Having now used the auction I don't think it's too bad but it's fairly pointless to bid until the last moment due to snipe bidding.

The change I propose to make is to make the auction work more like another well known auction site. I don't know if I can say the name but I'm sure you know how it works...

Basically rather than enter your bid you enter the highest amount you are prepared to pay and the system will automatically bid up to this amount.

    For example...
An auction starts and you bid 5m credits. You will be winning for 10k. If someone comes and bids 2.5m then you will still be the highest bidder and will still be winning the item. Another player must bid 5,000,001 credits before you are losing the item.

This will help to avoid the snipe bidding at the end which due to lag (possibly the server being hammered with last second bids?) is causing some issues.

Like the you most bid like least 10,000 more credits then the highest bidding thing?

In other words I put the highest amount I wish to pay. If I put 10m and someone else already bid 5m then it will show me as having the winning bid at 5,010,000. If you then come and bid 7.5m then I will still be winning with the winning bid now being 7,510,000.

Only if someone bids 10,000,001 will I no longer be the winning bidder and must then bid more than the max amount that this other player had bid.

Not really bidding for the really really rich people who just enter 1,000,000,000 and watch...

  5. I hope im not off topic but the lag is horrible i place bid with 10 secs remaining and i wind up bidding on the item for the next hour. really tough to win now my page wont refresh fast enough

Yeah and open up two pages of the auction and look at the times 2-3 mins diffence between the two.

  7. Yup, same thing on my end too. Which is why i bid during the last 20 seconds...And that usually works out well.

It's not off topic at all and I will add that the back page problems around the end of auction seem to have got much worse since I made this post.

If the bidding system was changed to the way I suggested it should help eliminate a lot of the last minute sniping since there doesn't seem any point in bidding for something when you can get overbid by 10 credits towards the end so most are just waiting for the end to bid.

  9. I am sorry, I didn't understand? :D

    Wait....

....did you mean e.g. You set your highest bid amount to 10 m creds. Then you bidded 7 m. someone bids 7,010,000. the system automatically overbids that player and bids 7,020,000. When at 10,000,000. someone overbids you like 10,010,000 and you had set the maximum to 10 m so the auction stops automatically over bidding for you. am I right?

If yes, +1 although I have never encountered this lol I just bid 10 m more than normal. If not then ~Neutral~.

    Cheers:)

Yes, that's how it would work. The system automatically bids for you over the other players maximum up to your maximum. If nobody has bid and you bid 10m you are winning for 10k. Then someone bids 7m and you are now winning for 7,010,000. Then they bid 15m and now they are winning the auction for 10,010,000 and you are out.
