  1. Yeh this forum is good because it does cover all the things people need to know about the game and it is also user friendly and this forum has really worked out well.

  2. Yes, I do agree that "buddy search" is rather stupid.

  3. Lol it does make me laugh but it is just for the people who want to be in a group or form a new clan.

If you are having a issue and you end up with a debate about what to do about it, how would you work out who is right? You could end up making the wrong choice and make things worse.

I remember what it was like back before the tech section was restricted.

I guess currently it is not likely to be anything like as bad as it was back then, because there are far fewer players especial Newbies.

Back then you would often get a player with a issue, then you would get a few giving incorrect information then there would be a debate about who was right. With the players that actually new what they were talking about struggling to get the correct information across.

I would also say that the way the Help section is laid out makes it more difficult to navigate for inexperienced DO forum users.

  5. I'm sorry, I'm done with you Arch^Angel, you are just trolling my thread and I ask that you stop as your trolling is just nonsense garbage.

    1. Saying there's is nothing wrong with being told wrong information - really?
    2. Saying mods don't need to help us - really?

I don't know if it is intentional or not.

Back to the topic, I and many others will agree, Tech section should be private as we want on precise and accurate information to be given to us and if needed, it can quickly be passed along to people higher up so the issue can be resolved quicker.

Not to mention all the 'I have the same problem as the OP' posts that didn't really amount to anything.

I have to agree with the points mentioned in the original post. There are certainly some improvements with these new forums but some sections seem to be all over the shop, mostly due to poor layout and disorganised posts which is fairly concerning considering the update was intended to bring us "better accessibility". It wouldn't hurt having a few more active board mods that know what their doing either, just so they can keep on the ball with threads.

  7. Unstoppable just because they have had "plenty of time" to get the forums up and running it doesn't mean they have. You are forgetting that some of those working on the forums may also be Chat moderators or Chat admins so they have to monitor chat at the same time. They can't just let cheats and abusers on chat go running wild while they create a new forum! They have alot more to get sorted in the forums to make it picture perfect.
Maybe they just have not spotted some of these and need alerting to it but don't be so harsh on them. Give them time! We had to do the same about the bots so we can do the same about the forums!

Technical Questions - Previously, this used to be answerable by all, and on many other Bigpoint Games it still was, even after ours had been adjusted. Personally, I do agree that having misinformation can be more frustrating than having a thread potentially go unanswered for a while - if it was up to me, I would prefer it to be restricted to Moderator responses only. That being said, there are mixed opinions on this across the Bigpoint teams. It is an area I am hoping to discuss with Support, however since the new Forums are very recent, broadscale changes of that type are unlikely to be considered for a while.
(I also think that this software may not permit a section to be restricted in that way, but I suppose I will receive an answer to that in time).

FAQ - This officially stands for Frequently Asked Questions, which is why the General Issues and Technical Issues sections are somewhat appropriate. What we used to know as the "Game FAQs" section can be found here, and I believe that it is restricted to Moderators only:

    Descriptions/Glossary

Astraea is doing a wonderful job of transferring the information across, however it is a MASSIVELY time-consuming task, so it will be quite a while before we have it all (not to mention the ridiculous task of updating everything with all of the major changes made - every link needs to be reconfigured, every screenshot needs to be recreated... we could spend months on this and still not feel like we have accomplished anything).
The new Newbies section will effectively function as a User FAQ section. There is really no need to address basic questions in two areas, so anything which is a question needs to go in the General Issues area. We will allow some extra time for player responses on threads which are more opinion-based.

Updates and Ideas - It was set this way. We have bigger issues to fight for than a few subsections in an area which is largely (sorry to say) filled with bad suggestions... often duplicated.
We are looking into ways to manage threads in there to get some sort of structure to find things easier. Pay attention to the Posting Procedures thread for updates.

Forum Games - Again, it was set this way. As you can see from the Section Rules for them, I will not be tolerating any form of spam games, so essentially that area will remain vacant for our Forums, unless there are any decent ideas. Due to a lack of Moderators available at the moment, I would prefer to not see anything in there for a while.

The Buddy Seach, since it was raised - I honestly have no idea of the purpose for this area - perhaps it has more relevance on other games. For DarkOrbit, we will use it as a platform for looking for players in-game for outfits, clans, etc. With the Hades Gate requirements, a section like this could have some benefit, although I do not expect much traffic in there.

  9. This is at first, difficult forum type to adapt on, but eventually this is alot simpler than vBulletin offered..

  10. It is a bit complicated at first but you can get used to it really easily I find this much easier than before now.
