Yes, I've read the FAQ about titles.
No, my question is not discussed.
    That being said,

If I have a transferable title, and pop a ship that has a different one, what decides which title I end up with?

    So, for example:
    Ship1 with title1
    Ship2 with title2

    Ship1 pops ship2.
Does ship1 come away from the encounter with title1 or title2?

    I have seen both outcomes:
In one case, ship1 kept title1, and title2 became unassigned
In another case, ship1 received title2, and title1 became unassigned)

Is it supposed to be consistent?
Is there some decision criteria involved?
    Like, perhaps:
    Some specific "title precedence" order?
Title with 'least/most amount of time goes to Ship1"?
    Something else entirely?

    Puzzled,

    Gnorm

  2. It's been set up that, if player one has a transferable title, and shoots player two, who also has a transferable title down, player one would lose his title, and gain the title which player two had. Thus, leaving player two, without a title.

That is what I would have expected. If you pop a title-holding ship, you get that title regardless of what you "used to have". But I've seen it *not* happen that way.

Perhaps the title goes to the ship that delivered the 'final killing shot', instead of to the ship that got the "logged kill"?

  4. if u both pop u don't get any titles they go back onto a random npc well thats what it sounds liek your sayign u pop then the other player pops or other way round

Specific detail - trying to clear the clutter.

    -=-=-

    Event 1. (What I expected)
I had a title. I popped another ship with a title. I got the 'new' title and my 'old' one was unassigned.

In this event, no other ships were involved. The "kill" was logged in my log.

    -=-=-

Event 2. (What I did not expect)
I had a title. I got popped by another ship with a title. His title did not change, my title was removed and by the time I looked, it was assigned to a different ship.

In this event, other ships were involved. In "my" log, it showed that I was destroyed by the title-holding 'other ship'. (Whose title did not change)

I cannot say which of the other ships happened to deliver the final laser shot, and I didn't catch the name of all the other ships involved - it happened too fast for me to note all the names. (I stepped into a hornets nest, didn't last long.)

    -=-=-

So clearly, based on event 2 - my expectations are wrong.

    My question boils down to:
It obviously does not work like I thought - how *does* it work?

(edit to add clarifying detail about the presence of other ships in event 2)

  7. Hello Gnorm

Thank you all for assisting with this thread.

It should in the same manner as you mentioned.
    CASE 1:
It shouldn't happen because if he was flying with transferable title he would have got the title you had, in that case he might have quickly transferred the title he got from you to another ship and later on found the title he had while he destroyed you.

    CASE 2:
He was flying with non-transferable title and he would have got the title you had, in that case he might have quickly transferred the title he got from you to another ship.
So in both of the cases he got your kill.

Do you (the original poster) have any further questions or can we close?

I guess I will chalk up the unexpected event to "glitch" and try to stop pondering it. The circumstances in which it happened seem to be rare. If I see "it" happen again, I'll be back, but you can close this inquiry.

    Thank you.
