List of Special Characters

Like most players in the game, I have special characters in my name and when I go to change it up a bit, some letters do not show up in-game.

I posted a thread on more characters being supported in-game but no one really supported it enough to change the game in favor of the idea.

So, I'm proposing an admin or a forum mod to list the special characters or special character "families" supported in-game to prevent further headaches and misidentification due to the 2 day limit on changing your pilot name and the game not supporting certain special characters.

 

Agreed. It's annoying. If it isn't going to show up in the game, it shouldn't look like it's going to work on the back page, only to be unable to correct it for two days when it doesn't work. A list isn't the best way to fix this, but it's better than nothing.

 

I suggested additional work on supporting more special characters but that wasn't too much of a hit. I still support my past idea though. Honestly, the best way to fix this would be to support more but the next best thing would be for someone to just lay it all out for us on which "families" are supported, and which aren't.

 

I was just wondering - didn't they used to work before the font/size change a few months back? It seems like I see less on other ships than I used to. I never used special characters before so I didn't realize there was a problem until I spent time making a really cool sig with special characters, and...ended up having a blank name, lol.

 

Yeah, back in the old days, I had all these special characters in my name and they were all supported...now they aren't. That's a great point.
