  1. Hi,

    I would like to see Chat Bans be based on Game Play Time and not real time.

    Many players, knowing they will not be playing for several days will say something that is a 'bannable' offense. When the moderator bans them for several hours, it is a meaningless ban , as the player will not be logged onto the game for several days.

    The Chat on my sever has gotten out of hand, though the moderators do a great job when they are working. That is few and far between.

    I am wondering if there is a legal reason for basing bans on real time and not game time.

    Probably not a legal reason, but more of how a player would respond to that type of ban. If I say something that I think is ok, but gets me banned for 8 hours (example), that's over a week of game play, if not more for me.

    Now think of that on a new players who just joined the game. If they say something bannable (without knowing they could be banned by it), and they get banned for 8 hours, they will probably never come back. They lost their ability to ask questions to other players, join a clan, and most importantly, make friends.

    You could also look at it from a paying customer stand point. If you spend $100 on mega happy every week, but this week you are chat banned, (if you use chat all the time) there is a less chance of you spending money, since your main way of communication is gone.

    Clans also use chat as a communication means as well, for those that can not afford Team Speak or anything like that.

  3. If you stop ganking noobs they probably won't cuss you out you know.

    You know what you're doing, while perfectly acceptable in the game environment, is just mean.

    I've done exactly what you mentioned in your post and cussed people out. Some players are just being complete jerks.

    Cloaking up with to sit under a cube and blow up a lower player just before the cube dies is just wrong.

    Farming people at the super icy events is just wrong.

    Killing people in the palladium maps is just wrong.

    If you want to get kills this way, just accept it that it's underhanded at heart and nobody likes being stabbed in the back.

  4. i think that it would be nice to increase the ban time in chat & forum according to the players history
    eg 1st time ban 2 days
    2nt time 4 days
    etc

    so a noob player will have the time to think about what will happen to his acount AND an old player will get a HARD penalty for keep on same inapropriate actions

    2 days?? New players need the chat to get help on how to do things. If they get killed within their first 30 minutes of playing, they probably aren't going to come back ever.

    This is already happening?:eek::rolleyes:
    So many old school players that respected fair play and were very unhappy with bots and other cheat, ended up permanently banned, (or posting in chat about cheats and bot that we all new were exactly that.) From accumulative chat bans.

    If DO had truly wanted to total ban and all but, eradicate bot users, then it could have been done years ago.

    SO there need to be chat rules that consider the player demographic like age and potential ism issues;

    Rather than what we had before, where sound dedicated players would get upset and air there honest views in chat then get banned for it.

    I think that anyone should be permanently band from posting such ideas.;):p

    I would agree with the ops thoughts, if bans fitted the crime like bans for ism, profanity, or other unnecessary chat content;

    but when it is little better that censorship I would say that is a different issue.

  8. I would say no to game time(I don't exactly sit in the maps for hours), but repeat offenders do need to be banned for longer amounts of time. However, being banned for calling someone a hacker is just ridiculous. BP is then seen as protecting them and it frustrates us very much.
    Yes.
