Server Merging Idea

Hello all!

I currently play on the server USA EAST COAST 3, and 85 % of the time it is really dry, and boring. I along with others have talked about the idea of merging Usa East coast 1,2, and 3 together as one. Many of my clan members have talked about how we could incorporate everyone's idea so everyone is happy! many people would be upset with rank fluctuations, and all that. Main set back about doing this, But would it make the game better? And would that off set those issues ? If Bigpoint can do some server upgrades to handle the amount of players? There are several ways we have come up with. Idea 1: Make a brand new server, and transfer everyones ship's and equipment over and everyone starts off with 0 rank points. Idea 2: Everyone keeps their rank and ships, and they just re do how many of each rank in each company to adjust so everyone keeps their rank. Idea 3: Everyone keeps what they got and is put onto a new server and where the game stands now will determine everyone's rank... Now i know this would take major planning, and thought from the Bigpoint devs, but I think its a good idea. If your from other servers feel free to post whats on your mind. Whats your guy's output on it ?

 

This must be the most posted idea of all time at this point.
It's a very popular one but the it has been said by the devs that they do not intend to merge servers and gave a few technical issues that would come along with it.

Their main train of thought I think is that they intend to fill up the already existing servers in the long term and not go for the short term solution of merging servers.

 

This is a good idea, the server is dead, there is no fun in the game for me or any of the others. I think this could work out, that way many more people could be in 1 server.

 

I wish they actually did that .but more and more players leave everyday . they will most likely never be able to fill the servers up again ..

 

i agree with u, i started playing in 2008 but lost complete interest by 2010... chating to same players every day for 2 years lol was driving me crazy. started back playing last year and so far its same issue less players online.. they seriously need to consider this idea of merging servers soon.. or atleast there should be an option to change servers so that players can make there own decission.. whatever the cost for it, it would be better than just quiting the game after that long time. playing playsation is more fun these days then chating to same guys every day.. lol

 

Damnit I hate East1, don't merge me with them -_-. Ranks would get destroyed and everyone would rage quit so the only thing a server merge would do is make more people quit lol. If only they actually filled up existing servers again, oh well .

 

It's a long shot but I depending on how they do the 3D mode it might bring in a good chunk of new players, not old returning ones but brand new players.

If a massive change in what this game is like that cannot bring in the new numbers I think combining server in-game but leaving backpages separate will really be needed.

 

we know they can move ships for 1 server to another (JPA)(JPB) all they need to do is make a new rank system people have spend loads to get number 1-9 and stars u change that rank system u could do it

 

Hmm separate rank systems, maybe separate maps to, separate servers fixes the rank issue lol .

 

i had that idea as well but i don't think u could do that ( all i could say on that is u may have to make a 3rd server and use that as a go between which would make more problems with jumps and so on

 

I cant see how this is impossible.On Nova Rider they merged some servers like a month ago an dLeague Of Legends it is possible to move your account from one server to another.I think that waht BP is doing is throwing dust in our eyes.SERVER MERGE IS POSSIBLE.So is server account transfer.Just Bigpoint employees are too lazy to code anything taht the actual players would like.And this new 3d Mode will just kill the game.I think thats their target as the number of inactive players is increasing the game will end up cost more money than it makes them.so they are just trying to kill it by this way.They can merge the servers but they dont want to.....
Anyway this idea is restated a lot of times And I think the yes a lot of Servers should be merged.And After the merge, A new Advertising campaign should be launched.

How do you know the 3D mode will kill the game if none of us have even seen it yet. Let alone tried it.
Not forgetting you can turn it on and off ...
I don't think they will start a proper advertisement campaign until the 3D mode is out either since it will probably be one of the biggest changes DO have ever made in terms of what the game actually is.

 

The 3D crap will be interesting to see, no server merges though lol.

 

here's the problem .. a lot of my friends .. said that if they make DO 3D and with no option to play 2D . they will all leave .and I will to .we are all big spenders .and top users . 2 of the biggest clans on the server,and many others shared their opinion .and said they will leave

many games do ti all the time .. they r just to lazy to do it ..

 

The Idea is totally possible. If darkrobit truly listened to its players it would set aside some money and maybe higher some Techs and devs to do it if they dont want to....

 

or if they had listened to is years ago, then we wouldn't be where we're right now.

I think the 3D update will be the deciding factor for a few players & whether the game gains new players or not.

Lastly, I think server merges would be a good idea, and they should do it. But the merge only being on the game client - so keeping ranks desperate ( like many have stated) .

then what would be the point of a server merge of all the players are seperated? lol

 

No point, I don't want no server merges.

 

Mapex, I'm content with what we have now in East 3. Not that much map action, I admit, but good enough for what we do have.
