It's not fake in the sense of I haven't made it up in Photoshop or anything like that, it was a real screenshot that I did take of a real DarkOrbit server - I do it again here but much bigger

However ... it's not real in the sense that I had to edit the attributes of the client to fool it into thinking I was using a bigger resolution than I really was.

How? I like the far out/pulled away game play.

  12. But relaying to the DO server a resolution request of 5.5K means a lot more data. Would not that much of a data request cause lag to other players in the game? And that brings up the question of screen size advantages over normal players. With a screen opened to 12 ship-lengths or more you would be able to unfairly lock other players long before they would even see you on their minimap.

  13. See that's what I'm talking about. Your image on http://i.imgur.com/4KN17Nf.jpg gives you an EXTREME tactical advantage over anyone else in the game. Not not mention the lag that has got to be putting on other players within your screen range.

This borders on if not exceeds the definition of a hack or cheat that should not be allowed. Dark Orbit needs to monitor the resolution requests from player accounts and stop this.

Yep it is a little bit more data but that only effects the performance of your own computer since you are the only one requesting it.

Think I can answer both of these together because it sounds much nicer than it really is. I can't zoom it out in the sense of I can see everything that is going on in that screenshot.
However I don't think I would be allowed to actually say how to specifically do it.

This is what it looks like once the client has been altered:

You can see that there are now scroll bars on the bottom and on the right where there would not be normally, this is the main change. Once the scroll bars are added you can then chance the resolution to whatever you want, although I find that it gives up after 6000x6000.

This is what it looks like with a webpage screenshot:

So you can see the reality of what I can see on my own screen compared to what I have made the rest of the webpage see is different, hence it being useless for actually playing the game.

  15. Anything that effects you effects those other players within the map and specifically within your flight screen as your actions change their parameters.

    No it doesn't.
My request for a high resolution from the server and another player's request for data never come into contact. They go to and from the server, never peer to peer.

If you think that is the case that I can effect another player's performance by having a bigger resolution on my own computer then please, by all means report me for it.

  17. Having a different resolution does nothing to another player lag wise.

The only thing a person can use the affect another player is an illegal program, which indeed does cause server problems, which is why bots, and auto locks always made a person lag a bit. Anything not meant for the coding, will cause lag.

I accuse you of making other players experience lag, but not now.

I will do it exactly after Darkorbit gives up their current servers setup for these cutting edge servers:
