Surprises aren't good.

Looking back at updates, DarkOrbit has a bad habit of releasing new features as a surprise, they are trying to do it again this summer.
From the Developers blog posted on Monday (16/06/2014) it says right at the bottom:

"P.S. I hope you don’t have anything planned for mid-summer."

Now I'm 99% sure they are hinting at the 1v1 system with that remark, but why do we have to be left guessing?
Keeping updates a surprise until they are finished is really quite stupid.

The players should be allowed to know what to expect in the future, especially since half of the old roadmap has seemingly gone out the window. It shouldn't be up the the player's to inform each other on the upcoming features before the developers decide they must "reveal" it a week before it goes live.
We should not have to guess at what is coming next to the game the vast majority of us put a decent amount of money in, when people start guessing they expect the worse.

It's a shame Rick moved onto something else, whoever was meant to fill his role with communication with the community has been terrible at it.

What I find funny is how when they post either patch notes or anything that hints what's to come, they sound proud like no other game does it... In reality... bigpoint do it less than everyone else.

 

I believe he is with the Drakensang team now. Think he joined them at the start of the year.

 

I agree. On PWI they have a window before long in of upcoming events and updates months apart. DO does not, only thing they told us about was the bot staging, which only led to tons of cheats getting away.

You right , surprises REALLY aren't good. When they're doing surprises , game is going better worst. Why they can't just open a feedack page and decide to apply-remove a feature with GAMER'S cooperation ? U_U'

I like this thread, never expected that you Okapi would make such a thread, I would expect it from PACMAN or PECANIN , but not you, and that doesn´t mean is a bad thing guys, really. I agree with you, they should put more attention on this matter, they should make it crystal clear as when it comes to updates, and care more for the players opinions, not just make a BIG FAT UPDATE and expect that everyone likes it.

For Harley: We have a saying in my country (Mexico) "It is human to be wrong, but it is for men to recognize it".

 

Mainly because I actually play the game unlike those two who haven't played in months, if not years. I see the game as it changes, not in yearly gaps based on a few hours game play every few months.
I criticize DarkOrbit where I think it is worth it and not go purposefully looking for the worst of every situation by twisting the scenario to change what it really is.

 

I think the Devs gave up on us. I honestly won't be surprised if this game gets shut down in a year because of how bad it has gotten. I have talked to hundreds of people online, and if you mention DO, it's always
"Oh that game with crappy support"
"Cheat infested"
"Bug abused"
"Ignorant mods/support members"
There are more but i have to keep it clean.

 

I think the 3D update will be the decider to whether the game is salvageable or worth closing down. (or doing something drastic like this)

It's a real shame... bigpoint create a great game, then destroy it.
