polls

Hi,

why polls are not permitted in idea pool?

Pls answer only if you know real reasons.
They're good to see who is for/against the idea.

 

Because they can be manipulated, if someone thinks their idea is really good they could just make lots of accounts and vote up their idea ... because yes, someone people would be that sad.
With that said they could just make lots of accounts to like their own post rather than vote on it but I suppose the rule was just carried over from the old forums where you could not like peoples posts.

It's also good to see why people like or dislike an idea instead of just having a for or against, if the developers ever read the forum (lol) they would want to see why people like something or why they don't like it.

moderators can see if 15 accounts are from the same IP and if they all vote for the same idea they can banip.

In French board polls are obligatory and people who vote against are obliged to say why.
People who are for can leave a com too.

 

True but I think the absence of a poll is to get people to post their reasoning for liking or disliking an opinion instead of just using a poll.
It creates an actual discussion.

Seems a bit extreme to force people to post if they vote, are there actual punishments for voting but not posting, if not then that system is sort of useless :/

It's not like polls are banned from the forum, if you want a poll stick it in the Speakers Corner.

 

But it won't be for an idea...

As this is in regards to polls not allowed in the Update and Idea Section. This was stated by Support on this rule, you can inquire to them about it. But as it says Update and Idea Pool, the Development team does go through there and look at the ideas players have posted. These ideas should be clear and reasonable to be implemented in the game, but it does take time. There are rules, if they are read then there will be no question as to what is and what is not allowed in that section.

So why are not the rules the same in every boards?

 

The rules are set out by our English Support team and they would prefer a text of the contributions the players would like in the game as opposed to a poll. This provides the development team a better description of what type of content the players wish to have added to the game and also allows the players to work out ideas to a more positive addition to the game. Many ideas from these forums have been incorporated within the game you have today and so we encourage players to contribute constructively to those ideas in a respectful manner.
