  1. USA Servers operate on a U.S. Dollar system for purchases. EU customers operating an account on the USA servers operate on a Euro system. Because of the exchange rate differences between the dollar and the euro the euro customers money goes quite a bit further, or you could say the same items are cheaper for them than Americans. That, in essence gives a negative advantage to Americans operating on an American server.

Given that the exchange rates are different, should not membership to the USA servers be limited to accounts opened and operated in the U.S.? Or perhaps a disclaimer placed at the bottom of all uridium purchase and shop item pages notifying customers that their dollar will only buy 60% of what a Euro customer can buy.

    Hmmm?

    Hello G-R-U-M-P-Y :)

Hadn't seen you post in a while, was wondering where you had gotten to. I understand your point but if you remember they did try to adjust the price of uridium a while back but it was met with outrage (or closed wallets) and so reverted back to the original prices.

Would you propose that any player with a US account that is not located in a US dollar denominated country is banned from their account, or just close it to new registrations? I think the game on all severs needs more players not less.

Currency rates are always fluctuating and as we draw closer to the end of the current fiat system those changes are likely to get greater. The rejection of the dollar as the global reserve currency will have some profound effects but by that stage the price of uri will be the least of anyone's concerns.

Perhaps if the price of uri was pegged to something of real worth such as gold, for example, then we might be able to achieve a fairer product for international transactions but I suspect this might be above the heads of many of those that make these decisions as they are still selling the following items in the shop on GB2 server:

    Citadel: £39.99
    Slot 4 CPU: £39.99
    Veteran & Exhalted design: £25.00

  3. The problem and the solution is very simple.

    1. - Assign server by geographic regions. Someone from England or Asia or Russia, based on their IP location could not join the USA server. Likewise someone from here could not join there.

    2. - Begin now with the larger accounts (accounts with a serious financial holding) and transfer those accounts to servers within their geographic locations. We well know that accounts can be moved from server to server as moderator ships are moved in and out of servers. Move the largest accounts first then smaller accounts. Accounts with no direct financial input can be deleted completely and those players can start new ships in their new home server.

This will also serve a good excuse for some major house cleaning that can clear out a large number of dead accounts. This will also make the local servers more competitive within their geographic regions.

The alternative to this is to make Euro customers playing on the U.S. servers pay the same amount for purchases of uridium. At the current exchange rate, when a U.S. customer buys $100.00 worth of uridium the Euro customer should be paying £161.00. All prices for Euro customers can be adjusted upward to a base U.S. Standard. Or they can drop the U.S. customer's pricing like they did when they changed from dollars to Euros in the Jackpot Battle and make the current $100 worth of uridium at Mega Happy Hour cost U.S. customers $60.00.

So I'll lose my 700+ playing hours, Alpha gate, pet, heart, diamond, iris, everything?? It took me more then a year to get them.:eek:

  5. You think 2 small its not as simple as you think how do you no mods account are moved from server to server ? you don't. 2 yes a ship is easy to make but all the ranking system would need to be coped and moved over to and there is a lot 2 look at now think of doing that 100x over anything goes wrong and it messes everything up then people that have spent a hell of a lot of money getting there rank 4 it to be taking from then in the move to a person on another server no thanx

Thats some big font + bold

  7. I think you've gotten a bit mixed up here. I played gb firstly, so on mhh £70 gets me just shy of 1mill uri and by todays current exchange rate £70 is the equivalent of 120usd. So I am effectively paying 120usd for the same amount of uri you are paying 100usd for.

So if anything, the usd prices need to be increased.

And they have increased the amount of money that can be won in the jbp. If you win 10000 euros, that is the equivalent of 13500usd. Which is more than is was previously.

You've got it backwards, it is cheaper for the americans and to prove it even more, you say a euro customer should pay £161 for the equivalent of what an american pays $100 for... £161 is the equivalent of $275. So you want a euro player to pay $275 for same amout of uri an american pays $100 for...come on now

if the game started that way it would have been fine. We all know already that moving accounts to different servers is impossible, don't we?
Everyone can choose where they play so if someone from europe or the UK decides to play on a US server and therefor have to pay more it's what it is and unless BP ballances the price for every currency it will stay that way.
I'm not a big fan of seeing people speak a different language in chat (even though somtimes it's funny), but even if this would happen... A lot of people are able to change their IPs... so there is really no point for any of this.

  9. I'm sure they could make accommodation for active free players. I was referring to the thousands of dormant accounts sitting around each server.

  10. Perhaps if you had to pay the same price as Americans to play on the USA server you would not be so high in rank? hmmmm?

Americans playing this game against Euros play at a financial disadvantage. You're screaming because you don't want to lose your advantage and rank and level you got from taking advantage of that advantage.

  11. While we can argue about the scale - I see it one way (which my banker agrees with me) and you see it another, that's fine. What we both do agree on is that there IS a difference between the exchange rates for the Dollar and the Euro. Separating the players, discounting one side or adding a tariff to the other seems to be the only way to balance the playing field.

I can vouch for stringshot on this one since we both played the same server, his payment is in GBP, so in fact pays more than you Americans do since we pay the equivalent of just under $120 for our 1 mil uri.

The point still stands though, prices aren't even between usd, euros and gbp, i suspect they were when the game was made back in 2006 but times have changed.

  13. If you took out all the Euro players from the US servers it would level the playing field for all sides. I really think the issue has merit. There are a lot of players I would miss but in the long run it would be better for the game itself to become more nationalized.

  14. Times have changed. Perhaps we all need to convert to bitcoins. lol

  15. You really don't get it do you?

    For the 330k uri packaged...
    An american pays $100
A uk player, (european player) pays £70 on a US server, by today's exchange rate this is equivalent to $119.91.

The european player is paying more, they are the ones at the disadvantage. It costs us an extra $20 for the same amount that you get. YOU have the advantage.

All of this can be found on google, do a simple search for the exchange rate of gbp to usd and vice versa.

The ameicans have gained by having their jackpot changed to euros, since 10000 euros is worth more than 10000usd.

For the love of god, go and google this before spouting more incorrect facts

At this precise moment 1 euro will buy 1.35 US dollars which means the opposite is true; the USD is weaker than EUR.

I see no point in complaining about such minor differences based on exchange rates as long as all players who "moved" to Venezuela recently only pay a fraction of that anyway.
