First off, I think that the reason people are getting frame lag is because DO is putting some kind of cookies or something into their browser that's clogging up their computer, I re logged from DO and ran CCleaner, and fixed it for a while. I think just re logging doesn't work anywhere near has long (Not to mention that my computer itself stays REALLY laggy after I get done playing DO until I run ccleaner)

The second thing is this, I just left a port and went along the bottom edge of 3-3, no one should of been able to see me, I don't think I saw a red dot on the minimap or anything, I just randomly started taking damage, and then I died and it said some enemy player killed me. I'm so annoyed by this game not being able to make your ship be in the right spot has your screen or whatever, it needs to be fixed.

Varoid38, Regular browser maintenance is always the key to optimum performance. I don't think DO puts any more cookies than any other site does. The Flash player may be taking on a lot of data especially if you have your graphics set on high. So far as the computers performance issues after closing Dark Orbit, even when you close a browser, it can stay running in the background for a period of time while it takes care of closing all the plugins. You can try removing plugins you don't need to reduce the amount of time needed to close your browser. After it is closed, it should not impact your system performance as DO only runs within the confines of the browser.

As to the second point, a graphical glitch may have happened possibly coinciding with laggy performance. That may explain why the other ship had not appeared in your visible window.

Do you have any further questions on this topic or may we close?
    Best regards,

I think it actually does something differently, because I've played different games (Like plazma burst 2, and star trek online, a MUCH bigger game than this is), and have never had any problems. Why is that?

  4. Cookies will not slow your computer, as a cookie, "a" cookie, as in one, is usually only set per login of any website which assigns one. A cookie is less than 1kb of data, so that will not slow a system down, nor cause you lag.

The death of which you speak while flying across 3-3 is an internet problem. Either down to your phone line or signal in a user using a dongles case. The situation arises because on your screen, you have clicked to fly, but the information is sent to the server, but then a lag spike occurs, possibly packet loss, line Jitter or latency can cause such a problem. If packet loss is present, then the fact you see damage and not any visual ships attacking is quite possibly down to the packets being fragmented and not being delivered to you. You recieve the damage calculations of the attack, but not the visual of another ship.

Remember, DarkOrbit is a streamed game, but the visual content is not streamed, they are local on your system. The server has to tell your browser or system where everything is so you can see it. If you get a lag spike, your browser or system may not seem to receive this information, and thus making your ship "lost" with no clue what is going on around it.

I would contact your ISP and have your line tested. Head over to www.speedtest.net and test your connection, also use www.pingtest.net to check latency and jitter problems.

As for a true and verified reason for DarkOrbit lag, I will soon be finding the time to publish a full thread in the forums explaining my findings.

    LAGI.

ŁÁĞÏ™ Thank you for your assistance with this players issue, and we here in forums are looking forward to seeing your up and coming post on the lag issue.

Varoid38 - As mentioned above their are a variety of reasons that you could be experieincing this issue.

    1. Web Browser is not up to date
    2. Flash and java not up to date - or missing plug ins
    3. Cache needs to be empty
    4. Browser history may need to be cleared.
    5. Distance from server
    6. Computer graphic overload. (Graphics card slow or not enough Ram).
    7. Internet type - Wifi, DSL, cable broadband or phone connection.
    8. Programs Running in the Background
    9. Clear Flash player data: Can be done at the following link
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager07.html
(This is an actual web page - not just an image)
    10. Try a different Browser to see if issue continues.
    11. Possible server problem.

These are all things that could be causing the issue, these are just suggestions as to what the issue might be, to help you resolve the current problem.

I hope this has help in some way.
    Have a nice day!
