Forum lottery

Stealing this idea directly from the French mod team:

Basically every so often they do a lottery for players.
You chose 5 numbers between 1 and 49 and you get a prize based on if you correctly guess the amount.
People with bot stages are automatically disqualified etc.

Thought it would be a nice feature for our team to put on, however I imagine the main issue would be for them getting the permission to do it.

Thoughts?

No, it wouldn't. To gamble something means you have the ability to lose something you already have. You lose nothing, you have the chance to gain something.

First line of the post, taken from the French team, DarkOrbit already do this.

 

i dont think its being done actually, I think its a suggestion.

 

If you actually look at the thread you can see they are literally doing it right now and people are entering their numbers along with their UserID.

It is also in their games section and is being done by a moderator.

 

On the english forums the Forum Games section it's full of spider web. They could organise something, it would raise interest for people to visit the forums. I think less than 15% percent of the active players are also active in the forums.

 

A idea which is good and simple . Depending on the rewards , i suggest a tax for entry of 500 uri / 20000 credits or it could be higher if the prices are higher etc .

I suggest the prices for multi-account , but for these prices it don't need a tax ...
The chances for 5 numbers are very small so ..
And the second reason is that Bp don't usually give things for ,,free"

 

Why do people need to pay?

If people pay to get a ticket then its gambling and we can't do it. It's just a game run by the mod team.

The rewards the French team uses are:

• 2 correct numbers - 10,000 uridium
• 3 correct numbers - 30,000 uridium
  
• 4 correct numbers - 100,000 uridium
  
• 5 correct numbers - 200,000 uridium, or 1 drone design, or 1 ship design of your choice.

 

As mods have stated the "bot stages" no longer exist. But i have heard rumors that they still do for the top 100 on each server. Can a Mod put some input in this pls to clarify this.

Also Gambling isn't a issue as the JPB has a Cash Payout which is covered under the USA gambling laws depending on where you are located. Which would be another issue of fairness. As some ppl in the USA are not allowed to take part in the JPB. They would not be allowed to take part in this. However if there is no cash payout then it would be part of the game that would not need to be covered under the USA internet gambling laws.And everyone could take part. Just like the capsule event.

 

Past bot stages are still recorded on peoples account.

To get a skill design of your choice.... YYEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS. but do will never throw that down as a prize. the most 50k uri.

 

The French team already do it and they use those prizes. It is run by the mod teams, not DarkOrbit as a whole.
