My thoughts and opinions on Darkorbit these days

I remember when I first started in 2010, the servers where loaded with plays and it was the funnest game I had ever played. There was many people to talk to and lots of challenges to overcome, the game was just overall perfect.

Then we saw a rise in bots which marked an far away, but inevitable decline in players. Yes, the servers become more populated as people could build ships on all servers, we also lost a good number of fair players.

I enjoyed the game for years, but the past few months have been boring, there is only a handful of servers with players, and its to expensive to make a new ship on those servers so people just end up quitting the game, even though they don't want to, the cost of restarting is to high.

I myself am quit bored of the game, I play on Global America 3, and there is only a few people left on that server that I consider a fight.

I seriously think a server merge needs to be considered before we loose even more people, I myself am on the edge, I log in here and there and nothing more. I want to come back but there is no challenge anymore, there is no pvp anymore.

People have been saying this for over a year now, we need a server merge, put all the French,German, Mexican servers on one, all the Global Americas on one server and so forth.

Server merge would be great but the problem is people who worked to get their general ranks what about them? unless you guys just increase the number about of generals per company cos the ranks atm are super hard to get lol

 

You just have separate ranks for seperate servers and have a separate ranking system

I feel you guys didn't play in the old days,
You can have multiple 3 stars if their is enough players.

And to be honest, I've heard from many generals and basic generals they don't care about their rank they just want an active server.

There is no accomplishment in being a general when you only have like 1-5 people competing for it....I don't care what rank I am, rank doesn't determine skill in this game, to be honest, I'd like to be a space pilot rank and killing generals, just to prove that point.

 

Yh i played on the old client, we both did lol, but what i meant was having more than 1 general.

 

All I, and everyone else on any server other then ga1 and maybe a few GE servers is server merge, we are al bored as hell of the game and lots of people don't play as much if at all due to the lack of players.

 

payback that's the main pt. lack of players / the unbalance of players and the cost to balance yourself to be able to pvp, good pt.
maybe instead of a server merge Ufe players could have there own server or maybe just one large map, while keeping rank just to fight each other. heck it can't be much fun popping me with 3 shots.

Its is boring, I dont even shoot noobs anymore. Because I want them to get FE or UFE and not rage quit because I popped them while they are learning to play and build up. I'll wait for them to be strong before I hunt them.

I guess they already secretly merged 2 Servers a while back, so they can do it again but wont. There is lots of people leaving this game...Its going to be dead by this time next year. It already is on some servers, Look at GA2 for an example, log on that server anytime and your lucky to find other people.

 

yeah ,eg1 had 8 of them at one time .eg4 had 3 or 4 can't remember xD ,but yeah its completely possible .plus I'm don't care about the rank I want an active server .and all the high ranked players on my server said the same thing .with the exception of 2 which always kill npcs and never hunt xD although they are not in top 10

 

it cant be done hence the reason they put TA (Traning arena ) out 1v1ing people from other server

and don't say u don't get much uri from it you pop players in normal maps and don't get uri

 

The problem lies in ship kills. That determines rank 'mostly'. Some have played on a server that does have many players to "('poof') aka rank up"...so, there in lies the dilemma of server mergers. The ones that had more 'targets' would be ranked higher. Does that create an unfair advantage?...'In server merges?'

 

like I said above. most don't care about rank. they just want an active server

PVP, PVP, PVP, LOL, I feel your pain. I really like just doing quest, and prefer the npc ones but am at the point with my main account where I just have uber npc and pvp to do, a lot of pvp to do. And its hard when hardly anyone is on. They really should do an analysis and merge some under used servers. Everyone, DO and players, have to realize that when multiple servers were first started within a region, there was great need for it. For example, look at the load on the test server when it is open. Lots of people on it from all servers and players are flying over each other trying to get the same kill, npc or pvp. If a number of the regional servers were merged together there would be more excitement in the maps.

I personally would not care about my rank if they did that, however a concern I would have would be what would happen if a player had accounts on those different servers, especially if they were all under the same login. Would you get to keep all your ships and equipment from the combined accounts? and of course any uri you had made or purchased. Credit for any premium packages or other perks? If you had more than 10 ships combined, would you get to pick which ships you could keep?

So many variables out there to be concidered. Its a business, and since helping to run businesses, I understand how it goes. Like everything else, when its new, there is lots of business. The game attracks lots of players, just like phones and clubs. But over time the thrill wears off of the crowd. It happens for various reasons. People are bored with the game, start playing other games they have found, or doing things in the real world. I wish the the best but for those of us that hang in there, I hope if there are mergers, all of our hard work and sweat is not forgotten about. Loosing stuff would be so much worse than loosing rank.

 

You got this all wrong. This a mining game, but it's actually a PvP game in guise. Wool over your head - because a wolf is NEAR. While you are digging it - attacked - defend near-self. Win > lose or win < lose. I am busy collecting aka game says. Bann hammer ups on me

If there was a merge server - then it will be a fight for it (-> server) whom owns what...get down to it and space debris for the merge...for six months and then reset the calculations of ranks

 

No new players are coming to darkorbit, who ever said that is a joke. LOL

 

Yeh, i dont think that new players who have never played dark orbit will be coming anytime soon or by the flock. Maybe players from other servers might be joining different servers, but this game is kinda dying a slow death.
