DarkOrbit is losing a lot of players

  1. I was just wondering for DarkOrbit staff or admins who are able to do this, that considering there has been people getting annoyed at DarkOrbit is getting hard/ to long to gain what you need, i mean 50+ years for full 50 pio points if you get 1 log disk a day, i just had an idea of using "Kits" free kits that is considering that DarkOrbit will lose money because of players leaving, that noobs can have chance, and others dont have to wait months to gain 1 iris, i was thinking about like every week you could do /kit "Something" and get like 10k uri, and some ammo, and even make some kits buy-able (bad English) like ufe kit, you get 50k uri a week and some ammo for 50$
    But DarkOrbit needs to make the game easier and faster for new players, i know that you gave extra stuff for noobs but its still slow....

    I agree with with you on that.... But you will find a lot of people here that will not agree with you. There is a lot of kids that play this game that do not have jobs yet lol.. Or anyone to help them out. Or live in a country that the average pay is not much.

    What Dark Orbit is looking for is new targets for the rich kids can shoot at lol

    I am a newb. 6 months here and this game is not noob friendly. Unless u spend a lot of money or time and time is hard work i get killed in 3.2 by an ufe in three shoots I have 13 pp in defense and a vengi w/ 10% defence shield design.

    There are very few new players, DO retention rate must be very low. I know it is a slow game to advance but they have to make it quicker or stop ufe from hunting noobs. Which I have never understood why kill a small ship w/ whites and rsb?

    I like the game but then on Sundays when I could play for hours I rage log out because 32 33 are filled w/ ships hunting me.

    PVp is a good and fun part of this game I have killed 28 golis But they were neebes like me.

    Your idea sounds good the game needs new blood because the small amount i pay gives me so little.

    I think Dark Orbit Staff is starting to realize that UFEs and strong ships rather hunt noob ships because it takes less ammo to kill them. Therefor they will move up in rank faster and save ammo doing so... If UFEs hunt UFEs they are taking a chance that they may die and also waste lots of ammo in the process. UFEs rather go for the easy targets like you guys.


    I understand your situation, back in the day it was worse than you all have it now. I know Dark Orbit is working on a deal for you guys Noob Protection from UFEs that means as long as you don't shoot at them they will not be able to shoot at you. I don't know what levels they will be adding I did see a while back some Admins flying around in noob ships that players could not attack them.

    They maybe adding more lasers for new player under a cretin level maybe more credits for noobs who really knows what they are up to.

    I know this protection will include protection from UFE shooting you guys

    Since I did see the Admins flying these noob ships guess they were testing them

    But if you read the Developers blogs you will find that they are working on sumthng for Noobs : ) GL

  5. I agree it used to be "Worse" but it was way more fun.Everyone constantly had something to do even grinding NPCs you had to worry about that dot you can't see haha.
    My suggestion is join a good clan.My first day of playing I was recruited by a total stranger and now I'm on my way to UFE :D
    So if you noobs need help look into a Good clan that specializes in helping noobs ik there used to be a lot more of them but there are still some you just have to look.There is only one thing you have to do to get a good clan and that's to be loyal and you can essentially become a totally free player.(Even though you will eventually give in and spend your Christmas money on this game...but that's another story.)
     
  6. It sounds like you are suggesting weekly and/or monthly quests that can be bought. Certainly a new idea. Double plus good.

Most people want, i talked to very little of friends and some clans left on dark orbit and all of them said, if you add this to the game man, it will change everything, i mean grinding npc's is boring for most, but common Make it faster, exciting, and even the bonus boxes for the events/ eggs and the pumpkins, your giving us crap, no offence but before you gave us good stuff, now its just cheap stuff, making something that people want in darkorbit, give them something they want to play for...

    Bought? as in money? then no, i mean free for everyone, even if its like 10k a week, atleast people will want to play for it then pay for it

    Oh and if your thinking to make it wth a limit when you buy a ufe kit, DONT, Make it limitless, i mean the greed in here

    oh how about this...make it so once you hit UFE or some thing close to it , you cant get into the lower maps that lowbie new players have to go while leveling up ie x-2,x-3,x-4. I cant say how many times i rage quit a day , but come back because i know once i manage to get my gear up there , even though its going to take forever,i will be able to take my vengeance on those who made it take that much longer.
    seriously though, either make it so after a certain level they cant come to the lower maps ,that way new players will come and play because they will only have to worry about people who they have a chance against,not those who one or two shot them , when they are in the best ship they can get. Or make it so if there is a level difference of x in level you cant shoot each other unless the lowbie is just being dumb and opens fire first. ie , if im level 5 i shouldn't have to worry about any one who is x number of levels above me shooting me since they cant shoot me , unless i shoot first . that way the pvp will become a bit more level playing field since the only people you will be able to fire upon are those who might have a chance against you , it would also promote some actual tactics being used instead of the bum rushing all guns blazing way i keep seeing things happen
     
  12. I think its about time that DO give back to the players. And your idea is fine. Im all about a good fight and a good challenge. Picking off noobs doesnt interest me, and alot of ufes dont know how to battle well, those that do end up leaving the server. SO why the heck not.

    I actually had what i think is a simpler ideal , if a player is x levels below you , you don't get any ep or honor for killing them , you can still kill them , you just wont get anything in game from it , and so it will be pointless to do so. It also has the added benefit of showing everyone who is the big bad UFE who is afraid to fight people there own power levels , and only wants to kill noobs to make them selves feel better. Also I agree that DO needs to give something back to the players,but what i have no ideal
     
  14. I have joined this one late... and so excuse me but I feel that (mostly, only really one exception) there is a positive response and I agree...some of my thoughts with ref. some of the comments...

    BigPoint/DarkOrbit have a delicate balance to keep the new and longterm players and GOLDEN_ARMY has made an excellent suggestion that may help both sides...

    this is also a possibility and even an amalgamation of the two ideas might be advantageous and benefit the future of the game for us all... one important comment though... kills of lower players currently still count towards quests and there-fore even without EP or Honour it is still worth popping minor players...

    and another good idea contained here... free or bought Quests are a good challenge for the new player and would help to bring them 'up to speed' more quickly and into the DO game ...


    My own addition might be that if the daily bonus was extended to include a weekly/monthly login bonus then it saves too much new 'writing' :p

    I agree that it would still make popping lower powered ship a problem and a simple solution to that would be to reword the mission to where you have to kill a enemy player thats on a certain map , kinda like the kill stuff missions they have now : destroy 8 (insert alien name) on map x-3 . and just make certain you name the map to be a higher map that lowbies can not get too.

    As far as game design goes a developer should have a concept that makes player want to play it,DO has that ,in abundance, as far as i can tell there isnt another game that is quite like it out there.the part that i see DO as failing in is the balancing of the game , A great game is not only fun and unique but it is fair and balanced , which DO is not.It is fair enough in the sense that everyone has the same base options spend cash to get ahead of the curve, thats a basic business modal for games now days , nothing wrong with that , but the fairness part thats where the main issues lie. the developers and programmers , are letting the balance of the game fall away and it is hurting the survivability of the game as a whole. it isnt fair or right that the high powered players can pop the lower powered players with out repercussions of any type , it invites those with a bullies mentality to target those weaker than themselves and drive the new player base,that every game has to have to make money,away.

    As I see it that is the challenge that DO has to over come ,if they can balance the powerful players to the point to where they will get nothing or even get a negative effect or killing low powered players , i really think that the rest of the game could remain mostly unchanged, i have talked with a lot of my buddies who use to play , and have quit over the years and the two things i have heard often as complaints are :

    takes too long to get anything and the prices for things are just stupidly high(one guy said it seemed like they were trying to cater to those who spent cash in the game and that the others could just go blank themselves)

    too many higher powered players popping them when they are at lower level in the lower level maps that they are suppost to be in.

    if those two thing can be fixed i cant see how DO wouldn't make a massive profit above and beyond what they have made recently.
    Like I said this is a unique game and there isnt one like it out there, and as long as the developers and programmers do as they should and make certain it is all balanced I see no reason why the game cant grow even larger.

    the 'unbalance' seems to be the biggest issue for those that care for the future of the game not mentioning names... :p

    redress the balance and stop the decline/disincentive for the new players and maybe ...

    am I harping now? :p

  17. I am UFE, the General of MMO on my server, and have been playing this game since about 2008. I try not to hunt noobs, but when there isn't anyone to kill, i resort to noobs. I do agree that BP needs to do something to get the game as active as it was on the old client, however, you have to realize that this is still a PvP game and dying is part of it.

    I dont think anyone has said that the game is not principally a PvP game and noone has said that UFEs such as yourself are not, in general, understanding of the fact that without noobs the game will have a problematic future... and this seems to be why we are all posting in this thread...
    Update and Ideas Pool is where we are and suggesting solutions is what we are at.. so constructive contributions are always welcome as it seems to matter, in various ways, to all those that have posted... including yourself иuяαяιнуσи

    I missed out on the old client by a couple months and have always heard good memories/things (maybe even what might be called nostalgia) from those that were there... but unfortunately we are here now and giving ppl like yourself more noobs that dont just instapop is what I hope will be the outcome :)

    I really do not mean any insult here...:(

  19. I agree with what you are saying it is very hard to get UFE without spending money, even spending money it is still hard because if you want UFE you have to spend ALOT, not just small amounts.

    ok I admit that this is a PvP game,and in its broadest definition of the word , you are right,what happens is pvp. but in reality pvp is when two or more players of close to equal power/ability/level/ect fight it out , what pvp isnt is when someone who can kill in one shot pops a noob/lowbie player. that my friend is called being a prick/bully/arrogant donkey/ect /ect. what you do when you pvp against noob/low level players isnt pvp, its called destroying the game you like to play.

    here is an example from what is probably one of the biggest MMORPG's of all times : WoW . I personally know over a hundred people who left the game once they started the cross-server functions that allowed high level players to camp and gank low level players ,and thats just off of one side of a server. In fact if they wernt as large as they were , and the fact that they started to fix it as soon as they became aware of the fact that they messed up,it is entirely possible that they would have been in the same situation that i see DO in.

    this game isnt nearly as large as WoW,and yet i feel our problem with the so called pvp is way way larger than it is in wow.if you want to kill lowbie, your not a pvp and to be honest your probably not a decent fighter,other wise why would you spend your time killing new players,which by the way runs off new players making it so this game will die.

    How ever if you feel that you have had enough of the game and wish to keep killing new players to the point where they desidce the game isnt fun anymore and leave , then feel free to continue killing them ,casue everyone you kill may be one more nial in this games coffin.
