  1. As you may have noticed the amount of new players sticking around in the game is slim. To get to even basic fe is a challenge. Most would rather quit than go through the pain of getting to basic fe with all of the obstacles they face such as enemies killing them, high level players taking bids, etc.

I propose a new protection on players that lasts until level 13-15 or so, and when that protection ends the player gets an option to buy a1 purchasepackage that stays offered for a few days.

    The Package
The package would consist of everything a player needs to be basic fe. 8 iris, all lf-3, all bo2, etc. In addition to that they would receive 10k x4 ammo, and 1 month of premium. The price would be anywhere from $5-20 depending on what DO sees fit.

Doing this would breathe new life into DO by adding the new players the game desperately needs, as well as new paying customers to help the games future development.

  2. I should throw you into the wild...Darwin rules :(

  3. so people who got popped a lot before and are now currently UFE don't get equal rights, but all the new players do :c wow, okay.

  4. First, I would like to ask the OP, if he/she is a new player or not. I am not and started on a new server for myself in August, and am now lvl 16, with goli, 8 IRIS, 31 LF3, 16 BO2, 15 7900, Diamond, BAT Formation, 5 shot rocket launcher, and all the basic extras. It is my 6th server but runs 2nd in terms of necessary equipment for FE. i just made lvl 16 a week ago during the winter events. All this was obtained with a little assistance from the player that recruited me from my main server in the beginning but in all I was able to get the majority of the equipment on my own. Everything was obtained by bidding, except for my last 3 LF3, which I bought with saved uri.

All that said, I took a lot of lumps with the getting popped so I have to ask is how much did you expect when playing a PVP game. I put the above paragraph so people could see how possible it is to get FE. It takes focus, dedication, and some patience. You can get there and not spend anything. I discribed just one of my non-premium accounts. I have 5 total, and the other 4 have aegis, citadel, and spearhead. Still no money spent. DO already gives you a month of premium when you start playing. One thing I think would help would be that DO put out a disclaimer as you are starting that lets you know that it is an intense game and that you will want to have time dedicated to learn and get built up during the first 30 days, you know- when you are premium for free.

This game does now have the training wheels of most platform games. While it does attempt to walk you through a little in the beginning, you would be amazed at the number of new players I come across that have no idea what the skylab is. That big start button is so inviting, new players do not even take time to see what the other stuff on the back page does. I was guilty of that in the beginning. Also, something saying "Hey Pilot, go read the DO Bible" would help too. It took me 9 months to find that when I first started playing and nobody I had met in the game even suggested it to me in that time. Now I tell new pilots about the skylab and the DO Bible when I first meet them.

All in all, protection until lvl 15 is unrealistic to get players to stay. New players need a go get 'em attitude and after looking at the above mentioned things, just need time and patience. Everyone can get FE without DO selling the equipment. Basically, if new pilots wanted to do that, they can without a new package. Its all available already.o_O

  5. first off, thats way too much to allow a new player to get, secondly the price is too low. Look, we need new players, but giving the the basic ufe package isnt the way.

  6. Yeah your UFE now but giving someone basic Fe would not really hurt you since them getting to UFE would be a long process

First off i am UFE and have played the game for a long time. I know that getting Basic Fe doesnt take much time to accomplish but most players quit before they get there especially since UFE pop noobs in lowers ( I see it happen all the time). You are one of the few who actually stuck around and went through the process but most new players jump into a game that is already well established and are at a horrible disadvantage. As for it already being available thats at the bottom of this post.

If your brand new to the game i doubt u would want to drop $100 on mhh (thats about what basic costs to get now) so a 20th of that or even just a 5th would be more realistic. Giving basic fe out after they work to level whatever would not harm u, it would actually help you in the long run. More players = more people to kill/ more people to hunt with. After all its only basic fe nothing crazy. Also If it were to be implemented offer it to all players for x amount of time so everyone who has not had this chance gets it.

Overall what would your suggestions be to what they get/shouldnt get? Just so everyone does realize $100 on MHH is what it takes for a player to become Basic Fe, so what would making that price $20 really hurt? BP makes more money and it gives us more players.

  7. I guess I am really lost as to why you would propose this since you are UFE. I was under the impression you were trying to get there. Having all that equipment would not be enough to protect a new player in itself. It takes skill in recognizing a threat and the since to get out of there. Also, there are a lot of new players that go off trying to attack every enemy, and company member for that matter, that they see while they are still level 5. New players don't even like to work on building up. A lot of them come in thinking there are going to tear a path through the orbit from the time they start, and really need that start period to get a feel for the game. Work on quest? No they want to hunt from day one. Let them start from the beginning and learn to calm down. True, a lot of them don't play past day one, but those were the ones that either can't get over being able to kill everyone, or can't get over getting killed the first time. I do a good reading of the complaints and although I don't doubt that there are a lot of ufe killing new players, I really hate that noob word, a good amount of them just get killed by someone that has been playing 3 days and was salivating at the sight of that shiny new ship coming from afar.

I remember when I had been playing 3 months, another company member kept shooting me just because he wanted to, and all I was trying to do was collect rocks. But back to the beginning, on my main server I have equipment fully upgraded and get shot down on a regular basis. Giving the new players all the necessary equipment, which DO has been getting closer to doing over the past couple of years anyways, will not keep them here and playing. Also realize that this game does not have a great recruiting scheme. I just happened upon it when I finally agreed to download chrome and found it in the chrome store. Its a chore to find it there now unless you are searching for it. There are new games coming out daily, and the newest games are listed first. Peoples preferences are constantly changing, not to mention a lot of them would be quick to play a console game, COD anyone?

I like that you have an idea though. A lot of players would jump on it. I just don't think that it will make the long term player population grow. Too much happening in the real world and after 2.5 years, even my gaming time is taking a bite.

  8. Im proposing this as a way to boost new players up to a decent level that makes hunting and gaining credits significantly easier (As for why im doing it= i try and help as many new players as i can in my clan but that starts to be a drag when they have trouble killing aliens on their own and bids for just 1lf3 costs 20m+ which would really take some time for them to get). I do understand their wanting to kill from day 1 but being able to kill a bk by themselves would sure help them out. It may not give a huge bump to the long term player population but at least we would see a lot more players flying around able to handle npc alone, yeah they may not be able to kill every single player but being able to kill aliens will help them work up to killing higher leveled players. Also I do agree DO should do even some minimal advertisements to help spread the game.

  9. Over all it would have saved me a lot of work but thinking about my main server, it can cause the game to get a bit boring since you don't have a lot to work for then. They would basically be in gate mode for drone designs and LF4, the only thing I don't have on my main, and at my level, 20, I am not really geared up to "start" working on it. I understand your thinking as I was frustrated trying to bk on my new server a couple of weeks after I started playing. Its really hard to get used to starting all over, probably worse than starting for the first time. But I am really glad I was starting from the beginning. True, it would make getting credits easier in the beginning. I give you a E for effort, I like when players try to help out the new players. I actually hate hunting my self and try everything to help them get through the NPC quest. I just use hunting for entertainment during play. Always have one hunting quest I say. Maybe DO will come up with another package for players to use. But there is a lot that they can buy if that is the route they wish to take.

so, you want to extend noob protection to level 13. then you want to give them a pop-up add that says what,"you've been playing this long and you still suck, so spend some $ or you'll get nowhere." that spend $ or die often mentality is what's killed the number of active players. on top of that, the new players that would have the extended noob protection would have no evasion skills because of the noob protection they were given for so long. lets say they spend the reduced $ to become fe. they would be stronger than they were the day before, but now after spending $ they are getting popped all the time until they quit like so many before them. sorry, i just don't see how that would help anyone but BP to squeeze some $ from the quitters.

Why not just make pvp a choice with a tab instead of forcing ppl into it?

  12. They got a choice when they decided to join the game. If they want to play something that has no pvp play, or optional pvp play, there are other games out there.

  13. Doing that would ruin the game, if you dont feel like getting killed turn on that and then go troll.

  14. If you see it as that big of an issue then scratch the idea for the increased protection and leave it as is, But add this as an always available to buy package so if players do choose to purchase it they can as they want without having to spend the price it costs now.

  15. I disagree with u, these same noobs spend more than that on the cell phone games. We all had to earn our ufe. So giving it away as a 20 dollar package just isnt right in anyway shape or form. You dont want folks to get in to easy, we all worked hard to get fe and the ufe. Letting players get the basic is just too easy and not fair to the thousands of players that didnt have that opportunity. Its not the right idea. I appreciate you wanting to help new players and bring players to the game but that package is just not right and DO will never allow it. Maybe saying that the prices of each item is 50% off is a better concept.

  16. 50% off just makes the cost be $50 rather than $100. Every player has the opportunity to buy whatever they want, and as it sits Basic fe can be bought for $100 on mhh, im just suggesting that the price be dropped to $20 so it is cheaper for players to be able to hunt aliens easier. UFE is a hell of a long ways from basic fe so they will still have to go through the drag of that this just gives them a slight boost for a reduced price. BUT if you think it should be a bit more expensive that works too.

  17. They can already get that stuff for more, or if they know what they are doing can be bought with $100 on MHH. Of course what is the odds of that. But asking them to start buying stuff with cash when they can get it for free is really asking a lot. Making another package for them to buy when there is already so much out there now is really too much. Let them get a feel for the game, learn how to meet players and work with them, and then learn how to plan what to get first. I guess the more we talk about this the less I like telling them to go get one of the "starter" packages.

  18. Yeh, i just think that 20 bucks is way to small, plus it offends me as a player because it took months and months before i became basic, and that opportunity wasnt around, plus it felt good to acquire it through hard work. I mean if its a 1 time event that players can do it, then I guess its ok, but I wouldnt allow them to have all drones, all lf3s, all bo2s and gens ya know.

  19. Your reference has'nt escaped my notice, nor would it ever, your presumption that you can imply the theory of evolution to this topic is silly.

Forums are about helping players, not put up or shut up - which is pretty much how the game is but i digress...

Your experience carries you well and enables you to make calculated and very educated choices in which the returns are great, however new players lack what us veteran players have attained through playing a sometimes brutal game and cannot understand or progress as you and i would on a new account, i am shocked to hear this from a vet, when you know how hard ships can hit now.

I usually have 851k single boost tank on one side for farming incase of attack, when im lucky i get away, but most of the time i dont for count of how hard just 1 player is hitting me, that same player could have chosen a new player - insta pop.

Hardly inviting or fun and needs to be addressed for more players on servers. The only good thing to come from this situation is a much stronger ship gets rank points and a kill, B.P. get a few more quid because maybe the player will get tired and spend as he gets popped when he tries to grind, or quits.

Evolution is about efficiency, being fair game and getting slapped up by a hairy ass ship with 27,000 drones is not efficient.

  20. Exactly what i was hoping to fix with this. The players who are against it are against it mainly because they didnt have it offered when they played, but they also didnt get hit for 150k+ a second. The game is very old and well established at this point so no matter what being a vet gives u an advantage, if giving noobs a boost by giving them what you attained years ago is really that much of a problem to your gameplay then u should re look to how u play the game. Yes they will still get destroyed by UFE or anyone whos been playing for longer, but now they can kill most aliens easily and work on getting stronger to try and not get popped every few seconds.

Once again this is just an option for them to speed up the process of having to go through the very hard noob steps made even harder by players who are out for easy kills, they do not have to purchase it but its their for them if they want to as a cheaper option then having to spend 3-5x more.
