PET Destruction, make it even

  1. I can see why the new changes were made. That's not really the issue i'm bringing up. The problem I see is this, if I pop a pet from my company it shows as a friendly ship destroyed. You need to make the flip side of that coin even, if I pop an enemy's pet it should count as a ship destroyed as well. If the penalty is deserved then so is the reward.

  4. That would lead to countless farming, and making some PvP quests, like the 100 kill one, easier.
    They already changed it.

    I disagree with this idea because it would be abused.
    True. Just not some, but all PvP quests would become trivial to accomplish.
     
  6. How would ALL pvp quests become trivial?
    Most of the PvP quests are Ship Specific, so pets will not be able to help you on that.
    However, a few of the quests says "Get x PvP kills", so the pet would fall into that.
     
  7. I hadn't considered that it could be used to accomplish quests, but I'm sure there could be a way to code it so a pet would not count toward any quest. But right now it's just wrong that they count against you but not for you. Something should be done to rectify that.

    the pet shouldn't count as a ship kill, neither when it comes to friendly players or enemy players. The recent pet change is pretty outrageous too though, let's say I'm in 4-4 during spaceball and the ball is about to hit the port and I try to click enemy cloackers and click a fellow company members pet and 1 shot kill it, for example could be just one out of many scenarios in which this new change seems to fail.
    With the short range of lasers you don't have time to check on your group window wheter you're locked on an enemy or a friendly player at times and just need to straight up start shooting at times, then you check if the log says it's a friendly player you're shooting and then you check the mini map.

    Most pets are a 1 shot kill and that leads to a lot of people killing certain pets without planning to do so.
    I'm sure Darkorbit can and will find a better solution.

You and that ''the laser range is to damn short bit'', makes me sick lol, though your points are somewhat valid concerns except of course checking group window one, its not difficult to glance at it and the mini-map. With all things considered, the idea with the stipulation that pets don't count for quests is best, then again the same stipulation kind of makes the idea pointless, oh well, the update is fine by me, the range is also fine :).
