Leaving the Game after over 8 years.

My time is up. My patience has run out. I been here since Darkorbit Beta and I am finally leaving. I took a few breaks over the years but it is time for me to move on.

This game is going downhill And has been for a while. Not only because of the game's constant updates that are not approved by many players but also that lack of support and the ability of us players to communicate with the developers (just because you create feedback threads does not mean we are talking to a developer, I know those threads are just there to prevent spam because people like to create multiple threads about the topic) . A couple of us, including myself, know how to fix the issue of the lag that everyone is having but the idea is turned away and deleted because "it causes players to lag" even though it has been proven by dozens of players that it actually fixes the problem.

Personally, I feel like certain support staff has a personal problem me for some reason. I have no idea why but their responses seem dull and countersteering towards my reports and questions, ETC. Meaning that when I suggest them ways of how to fix an issue, they ignore the suggestion and use a side context to end the conversation and even try to avoid the overall tone of the conversation; they don't even try to talk to me.

For example, I made a support ticket involving me getting an infraction and a ban a few years. I got banned for linking a thread from another Bigpoint forum and it was considered Advertising another game. Also I mentioned that links are being removed, even if it is from Google.com or Wikipedia. They said I was advertising a VPN even though the link was telling the user that common ISPs are throttling internet and a VPN is a solution to avoid being throttled. It was not a website that no one knows, it was just a google search.

My reason of leaving is not completely because of that. For one, the forum is way too strict. There is no freedom or very little of it. You cannot be a "community" here. This forum is only treated like a "support" forum. Which makes it pointless to have a forum because we have a ticket email system and half the issues that are addressed cannot be dealt with on the forums anyways. Also, you made it such a headache just to login on to the forums. Makes it not even worth the time and for some people who do not have unlimited monthly bandwidth, it is also a waste of data having to go through 4 pages/Refreshes just to login to the forums. Then they have to do it again every single time they want to come on the forums. One refresh of this forum can probably use up a few MB of your monthly data.

This game is becoming boring (Actually it has been boring for a couple years when the player base has dropped) and it is very repetitive and not many players to talk to anymore. I am a pro supporter of a mass server merge but that is not going to happen. I am part of the TGC but I don't see any real benefits.

I been here on the forums for about 5 years. Mostly on the old forum though. I have answered thousands of threads and gave out advice for hundreds of players. At the time when I was the most active, I could join any server and say hi and people would know who I am. I got denied staff because "You do not qualify" and got denied again because "Your first name Initial is similar to another exstaff user who is not allowed back on staff". Which I found funny because when they told me the name, the name was not only different than mine, the first initial was different. They even told me what timezone this exstaff member lived and I live on the opposite side of the country.

I hope you'll stay on forums a bit though so we can still get your awesome sigs and all but as for the game part, yeah not going to ask you to stay there, that'd be like asking you to jump in front of a bus at any rate, cya around hopefully and if you do leave for good, I'm hoarding all the sig pictures and selling them in the future for billions muahahahaha!

Wait, you've been playing by yourself for 4 years??? How did you stay? I know I can't go more then a month without going into ts and talking with friends from other clans.

 

I bet DO didn't want you as staff because to them you have to much to say.

 

I actually Started voicing my opinions more of this month. But I could care less about being staff.

Plus, I applied my last time because a CM asked me to in a private room.

Ive taken a few months off and missed it.
Ive made some Recommendations on the West Coast Server to fix the Lag, the Best one has been just to ReName the Game to

" ParkOrbit/Relogged "

Re-Loaded is what staff might have Engaged in.. before Reading your Application for Staffing and missed the Entire Letter..

ugh, I'm so sorry to see you leave Vintage. I can not blame you though, really. I have always been a great supporter of this game, I have been asked to try out a different game for years and this week I finally tried it out and I enjoy it a lot. I guess I have been afraid to not achieve everything I have achieved in darkorbit to today. I have gotten more and more bored with darkorbit lately and I'm so excited to now play a game that is very complicated, competitive, interesting and has so many different aspects for you to play it. I'm not going to quit darkorbit, that's for sure, but the game is just too one sided, the community is too small and no new item that is hard to get with high value has been introduced in years and I have simply gotten bored with it.

Anyway, take your time VintageAion, you're a really cool guy and you were one of the few who put collour in this black-white forum...

 

Sad to see you go. If bigpoint had any care in the world a developer or someone higher up would comment in this ever decreasing community. But as we all know it'll be down to the mods to do.
