PET overhaul

I think its time for the P.E.T to have a overhaul. As much of a useful tool my P.E.T is to my account, there has been stacked fustration about the P.E.T when I box in Battle maps, especially during Spaceball. Why is it that my P.E.T is ALWAYS in competition with me picking up anything in general i.e. bonus and cargo boxes. During Spaceball, When the ball gets to the port and the cargo boxes spawn, there will be two boxes right next to me. When I go for the one box on the right, I would think my P.E.T would go for the one on the left.. NOPE ! ! ! its gotta steal the box I'm going for while someone else gets the box my P.E.T didn't. When I go into the Battle maps its almost the same thing unless my P.E.T catches wind of any nearby boxes. I have tried adjusting the number of Radar and Salvage protocols, it doesn't seem to fix this issue. This has been something going on for a while now. I just figure that Darkorbit would gotten to it by now but I guess its a subject not brought up alot so here I am

 

Lol because radar protocol would do nothing with your example. You can't ask for something to be fixed that can't be fixed. This is a game not a mind reader worth 1 billion dollars. Pet doesn't know what box you're going for just goes for closest one, so go for second or third closest from pet, Wabam Kazow problem fixing since 2009 <------

 

LoL.. the simplicity has been tried before maaaaaaany of times. Its like the P.E.T has separation anxiety or something. I say I cut the umbilical cord when he became level 8 and he got level 3 protocols. There can be something done to it. It wouldn't be the first time the P.E.T has been altered. Before in the beginning, the P.E.T would fly on its own like its supposed to when I'm flying around.

The pet does go into a "frenzy" when presented with a screen full of close bonus boxes (10 or more close together). When this happens the pet WILL go straight for the box you click, and it WILL change direction with you if you click on a new box. It's annoying, but it only happens to me in a cloud of BB's. Otherwise the pet trots along on its own path if it can, then starts flying back (as it always has done since day one).

 

i don't know if its a individual thing but this competition between the P.E.T and I is a bit ridiculous since he is there to help me not steal boxes from me. its not the idea that the P.E.T doesn't go on its runs on its own but in particular Spaceball when the ball hits the port and ALLLLL those boxes come out and my P.E.T is trying to take the ones I go for where there are 5 boxes to the other side of him?

 

I partly agree with you, since i feel that radar protocol is half hoax.
This is because radar protocol only increases operation radius, but doesn't increase it's area of sight, witch makes it only useful with alien locator. But with boxes or palladium its not so useful, since pet remains "blind."​

 

it should be more like that when the P.E.T is in auto looter, there should be a magnetic effect pushing the two apart until the command is given to come on back. There are times where I sit there and observe my P.E.T's behavior. Astonished that even when boxes are not even a pinky finger lengths away from my ship, even with Auto Looter 3 and 12 Radar protocols, my P.E.T hovered for like 2 minutes and when it did decide to move it was in the direction i was going in even thou there were boxes closest to him than those boxes from me. Auto Looter 3 has: Range: 2500 Once you activate this P.E.T gear, it will automatically collect bonus boxes and cargo boxes within close range. How does Darkorbit calculate "range" in game?

 

Just move your ship and wait for the PET to fetch. Move some more and repeat. No need to click on a box You only need two lvl 3 radar protocols

 

u guys just let me think about spaceball "pet collecting", i have spearhead and other players pet (with goliath) start earlier to go to cargos, while mine just afk before he even realize some are out , all are gone

 

I have had that exact thing happen to me too Sauron, but not always. I assumed lag or ...?...whatever was causing it, my PC is sub-standard by 2015 standards so I can't really comment on performance issues unless it is really bad.
To reiterate, I have seen other people's pet who are next to me and my pet get a "hear start" and start going for boxes before my pet even moves, AND before the boxes even show up visually, it is annoying.

PS...once in a while ...MY pet will go for cargo before I can see it, so I've had this effect help and had it hurt me, I chalk it up to "all part of the luck of the draw".

 

EXACTLY what I was trying to say.. Golis and Aegis both with P.E.T's all beat my P.E.T with spearhead speed

ive mentioned this " problem " to support before. i always thought the idea of having a looter to box with was so the pet could aid us and almost double up our boxing. so, i fly around, i leave some boxes if my pet isnt boxing and go on to the next boxes and hope my pet collects the ones i leave behind, which sometimes it does now , but at the time i reported my issue it was passing the boxes as if they werent there and i was still within reasonable range of my pet, not that it mattered as at the time i had 12 radars on at lv 3 until i replaced my set up with a boxing set up. now i have just 2 lv 3 radars on and it still collects just the same lol. supports reply to me was that i should fly to boxes, stop, and then let pet collect then move on once the area was clear. what on earth is the point in having a pet if it doesnt aid you and you practically have to direct it to the boxes and you do nothing? .. guess only the devs behind the screens can answer that 1 lol.
