for those stuck in 5-3 near the pally field...

you can escape.
once you press the 'start' button start clicking as fast as you can on the window as though you were flying your ship away from the pally field. it looks as though a few of your clicks get through before the crash occurs. repeat as required but eventually you will find that your ship is in clear space and you can proceed out of 5-3

Please know that I am just trying to be courtesy in a frustrating time. In know what is it meant to be sarcastic or demeaning.

By this statement it looks like the problem is on the pally area only.... So if it keeps crashing you can try the above what he said, but you have to move fast and away from the pally area, you have a 2, or 3 second window to do this move before the crash, or if you have another hanger log into it.... As he stated if you work away from the radiation and get in to space then you may be able to log in hmmmm.
Strange bug...
