Here's a simple answer to a big problem. Like many companies, when they have one problem after another and customers scream , cry and stamp their feet they simply shut down the system until it's fixed. Pretty simple. People will survive for a week and better than Dark orbit having to issue credits to players since that is what they will have to do if this keeps up much longer. Maps are pretty empty.Don't kill the what was a great game because of the wallet warriors.

  2. Wait, What, Why??? To a lot of players as myself, this is an essential part of our life. What are we supposed to do while the site is shut down? And do not ask what we were doing before playing DO, I try not to think back that far.

But on a real note, they have the test server they can work with but the odd thing is a lot of the bugs do not affect everyone in every server. One of bugs affects me on 1 out of 6 servers I play on. But at the same time, others that play on the other 5 servers are having that issue. I don't have the issues that everyone else is talking about. What I think is odd is the fact that they just do not have the same code on all the servers. With the exception of the spoken language for each server, I would think that the coding should mirror as the same for all. Turkish servers excluded, ahem.. And I suppose some local special events.

Maybe what they need is a backup code that they can just use to reset the servers to, and do the reset. What is going on now is just muck.

If every game shut down when it had bugs or glitches then there would be no games. Triple A publishers that have pumped millions upon millions into the development release games where people can literally not even use multilayer for months.

Now DarkOrbit has bugs, there has probably never been a point in this game where a single bug has not existed, however that is not exclusive to DarkOrbit and will exist with every other "MMO". Shutting it down would not fix anything at all.

  4. I think he just wants it shut down, so they can have time to fix it, and then start it up again. I am wondering how well they can fix something that is "in use." I am going to take a wild guess out there and say that they have 2 "sets" of hard drives for each server. That way they can use one set for live play and put in code fixes on the other set. Then when the server resets they do the hard drive switch. New code is in use and they have time to work on the set that just came off live play. With that, they really never have to shut down the server for a long period of time, which is good for those of us addicts. o_O However something ties all the servers together. Everyone has a global ID number as well as a server ID number. In my case, my global ID number links my server ID numbers together for server switching. A lot of problems that are affecting us are on that global level. It is not just one server, it hits multiple servers at the same time. That is where they need to look. And for that, I think they will either need to make a copy or take the site down. Hopefully if taking the site down, they will alert players of when they are going to do it, more than 30 minutes before. Like 2 or 3 days before, on the backpage when you log in.o_O

I understood what he meant, it says it in the title, however no online game will ever be free of bugs.

a week? have you not seen how long it takes them to get somethings fixed, it would probably be off-line for months, and by that time... well, you think the servers are dead now:eek:

  7. He is totally right, no game can be shut down cause of some bugs. Every system that is online has bugs. The current bugs aren't that critical, what if I see the seprom timers on shield as 1min? I don't mind, I can put 1 more seprom and the real value will flash out. As long as everything works good and don't have problems in gameplay, I don't mind them :)

PS. If big companies like BP shut down games for bugs, company will loose a lot of money. Even couple of hours game shut down costs a lot.

  8. I almost spilled my pop. ROFL Can we say dead and never returning after that?

Agreed, nor any other piece of software, just sucks that way.

Here's the problem..Adding sep the real value no longer flashes. There is no real value anymore. That's what is different now. I just logged in and there was no sep and gen upgrading kept flashing on the screen and my shields were down 100k again. Added sep and shields back to normal. Support said it was fixed then took that statement back. Adding sep I transfered 2475 and only got credit for 100. The only visual statement no longer is valid. There is a much worse problem they have to fix. I wasted 3000 uri this morning. Not a happy camper. The customer service dept should be doing something for players until it is fixed. But since they won't I have stopped playing. Not wasting anymore uri.

i understand it costs a lot. But it is now costing players a lot also with no compensation. They are quick enough to take the money but rarely if ever give anything back. They need a lesson in customer service. If they don't the maps will really be empty.

  11. I understand that. Bugs are frustrating, it's true. But sometimes, bugs are hard to be spotted and updated. It takes time from a programmer point of view. Be patient, things will settle down soon. This bugs are cause of the code refactoring, which was great thing and made the game more faster. :)

  12. I don't know why is that or why support told you it is solved, when it isn't. For me, on Global Europe 7, I still see 1 min left. When I add seprom, let's say, real numbers still flash for me. I have tried it today.

  13. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the lag that a lot of people are experiencing, not me though. It might be that there is more than denial of service happening from the outside attacks.
