Alright so at the moment we have 20 slots on the hotbar to put things in, I think that's becoming too little. If we just look at PvP there is way more than just 20 items that can be useful to have in a hotbar slot. I'll give an example of the things I want easy access to during PvP in a Goliath.

    • Drone formations (6): Pincer, Crab, Moth, Diamond, Chevron, Heart
    • Laser Ammo (5): RB-214, x4, RSB, SAB, CBO
    • Rockets / Hellstorms(8): CBR, SAR, Yellow hellstorms, PLT-3030, PLT-2021, PLD, ICE, DCR
    • Mines / Techs / Other (12): DDM mine, Slowdown mine, Anti-shield mine, Anti-cloak mine, Backup shield, Battle repbot, Precision targeter, EMP, Cloak, Ship ability, Smartbomb, Insta Shield
    Total: 31

That is just for the Goliath as well, if I were in a Aegis or Citadel I would want even more slots for my abilities and with competitive group PvP seemingly being planned it could become a real issue for people in these ships.
With new ammos and actives being added in events the lack of hotbar space will just continue to get worse. More slots would also open up the possibility to toggle on and off the Aim-CPU easily or manually load the rocket launcher which is quicker than the RL CPU.

I think the best way to fix this would be to introduce shift-clicking on things, so for example say you had Pincer on F1 then you could put Heart on Shift+F1 and when you held down shift and pressed F1 it would switch to Heart not Pincer. Then make the new shift clicking hotkeys re-mappable like all the others.

    Thoughts?

  2. While I like the idea, I think efficiently managing your hotkeys is part of the strategy of the game. Personally I keep Drone Formations and Mines (except SLM-01) off of the hotkeys, and then keep the menu-bar open to I can switch between Mines and Drone Formations.

The issue with that is if you have to actually click on them which takes your attention away from the fight and watching what your enemy is doing and on top of that if you missclick in the slightest it just drags the formation instead of swapping to it.

I personally think managing 30+ hotkeys efficiently and learning to manually do things like reload rocket launcher would take more skill than deciding which things not to put on a hotbar :/

I agree, we need more hotkeys, especially with new things coming out. Would be nice if you can add as many hot keys as you need, then assign a key to them.

  5. I don't think we really need more hot keys. But we do need the ability to put more things on hot keys, like pet abilities. The three pet keyboard commands are not enough. We spend a lot of time doing painful pally, boring boxing, and battle healing. Our pets help us find various things so we can do our various missions, and we are always pulling them back to help us attack or defend against our attackers only to have to manually set them to go in search of what they were supposed to be finding in the first place.

30+ keys is just too much to have to keep up with. Not everything actually needs to be on hand. That is the beauty of the game. Like pilot points, you choose what items you want to have on hand for what ever reason and you go with it. If you need anything else, you will figure out a way to get to it, or get it going after you come back to life, lol. Its just more stuff to memorize the location of during game play. I don't have my 20 items memorized now after almost 3 years. And then if you move something, OMG, just hit the wrong thing.

We do seem to have more and more stuff available. But we can't carry everything armament on our back when we go to a real war. We will have to call in for backup here as well. o_O

Pilot point are completely passive though, so do not require to be activated, not exactly a good comparison. Putting pet gears on hotkeys would just worsen the issue and cause there to be even more need for more hotbar slots.

Yes I do think I should have easy access to everything I have bought and want to use in this game, without it compromising my PvP.
Every other MMO I have played has more than enough hotkeys available to use all my abilities and items, I don't see why DO should be any different. It requires more skill to manage lots of hotkeys than it does to chose which things not to use.

30+ might be too much for you to keep up with, but anyone who had played another MMO will have had access to this amount and more, if they chose to ignore the hotkeys and just click on things then that is them putting themselves at a disadvantage.

20 hotkey slots for all and +10 for premium. Yes please! An update that would improve the gaming experience without additional cost

  9. oh no just had anoth hotbar i cant shift click crap while fighting xD

  10. dont forget hotkey functions for the other pet gears, i always lose fights trying to hit kami lol
edit: just finished reading the other posts :) oops lol

  11. what we need are modifier keys for the hot keys in place, like the shift-f1. so if i hit shift it remaps the entire hotkey set to my secondary, which might be easier to do on a keyboard but i dont have $160 which is the base cost of a keyboard thats worth buying with modifiers, and even that wouldnt fix the game shortcuts. so yes, +1 from me, except modifiers not more hotkeys.

I don't want more hot keys, you need to be skilled to use all you need in a good fight.. so, that's what makes the difference between an UFE and an experimented UFE

  13. More hotkeys would just be more clutter on the screen, I like a big view so I have a great range of locking on people attacking me and those who would rather emp cloak and run for safety.

Hence I suggested shift clicking, so a single hotbar could act as two. So f1 and shift+f1 would be the same slot but could hold 2 items, then it could be re-mappable if people wished to do so.

  15. As long as DO is smart enough to do this and sets a default key that is closer to the number keys so that people with smaller hands can use this function without needing premium just to change their hotkey bindings should be fairly helpful and easy to use.
