    Hi Kerensky,

    Its really amazing to have someone from the team actually reading into our posts and trying to answer our questions

    I've a question regarding the new 3D client.

    As some other players have also pointed out that the ship design/texture in 3D client looks a bit like cartoon :D I mean un-realistic. In fact, the current ship designs in 2D client are comparably more realistic.

    So do you guys have any plan on working on making them look more realistic right now (before releasing into all servers) or would it send you guys back to the drawing board, so no plans for now?

  5. It's delayed... wait 15-30 min, and it should be open if everything goes as planned.

    I quoted your post, saying it is unfair for newbies and this need to be change. I said if the developers want to, they would not think of such ridiculous formation in the first place.

  12. yes they will be its the reason behind the test servers to test them then the get fixed if any bugs then go onto live servers
     
  13. Im asking if Okapi is going to release the 3D files for our use... to make signatures and similars.

    I will need to find a suitable way to display them so people can choose any angle and so on, something like sketchfab, however I would need to email in and see if I can get permission for it just encase there was a problem.
    If I did get permission I would need to start messing around with importing and exporting the models to a format that could be uploaded etc.
     
  16. Is the test server off now again , why is it so hard to get in and catch it on time always should be extented for a longer time in my opinion

  18. It isn't closed. That was just server restart. It is open till 21h CEST.

    (That's the kind of dialogue I was hoping for - and thank you for making it happen! <3)

    The fact that I'm here, talking to you was not planned, scheduled or considered beforehand. I just thought it to be a good opportunity to chime in, now that "3D" is ready to be released (almost) and is finally something we are (rightfully?!) proud of and that is not being dismissed with the usual complaints about us not caring for the game or our players. Because to be honest one of the things that was always holding us back was the fear that we would be entering a lion's den and be swamped with only complaints and insults. (Maybe we were doing our players injustice but it was terrifying on a very primal level.)

    How we should continue this dialogue? Let me check with the team if anyone beside myself would be willing to participate and do his/her bit. I agree that if we could get all our team members into one thread and take turns, it would allow us all to learn more about the actual mood in the community and give you a wider variety of views from behind the curtain.

    "Portal to global maps" - I believe that we talked about this and that while it was less intricate to realise, it still had some drawbacks that needed overcoming. For now we're waiting on the BSGO team as they are in the same position and are close to actually merging (I believe), to learn from them. Eventually it always is better to learn from someone who already has the experience than trying to reinvent the wheel.

    And finally to comment on the "horses mouth" topic again: I do hope I have set an example about the way I like the "officials" to communicate and that all the information we are feeding back into the team is really meant to be spread and talked about. But yes, direct communication is way better than playing Chinese Whispers. :)

    Well, that wasn't really planned because the higher the textures' resolution the more data we would have to transfer - plus it would again impact on performance - which we just are proud of having improved^^. Maybe we'll come back to that (because we do have the highres textures) but right now we want to look at the more pressing issues that I mentioned before.
