[SC] Drill or Wheel?

I want to get one new drone formation. I'm stuck between drill or wheel, and wanted to draw on the experience of you forum luminaries.
I fly vengeance lightning, pretty much full time, so need to incorporate evasive properties with attack capability.
Being a vengeance, I need to conserve hp and shields, plus speed, having said that I often hunt on (close to) suicide config.

I'm liking the look of wheel formation, for escape speed, but I wondered does the 5% speed bonus stack with the afterburner ship ability?

I'd really appreciate your feedback

The speed bonus should stack.

I'd go with Drill. The extra damage is just stupid.

 

I also fly a lightning vengi, and short answer is Drill. + 20% damage, and you can use your speed boost to counter Drill speed loss.

Long answer is, it depends lolz. I hope you have Heart/Moth/Diamond or Pincer already for PvP, that's kinda the standard. If you need to run, either to get away or to chase down opponent then wheel, but if you'd rather go down fighting, or think the extra damage it gives will be the difference maker, get Drill...or get both so you can decide each fight...

Either way, Drill and Wheel are not meant to be the starting formation when engaging in a fight IMO. One drains shields per second, and the other takes 25% shields off the top (EDIT: suicide, lightning Vengi, with Drill EEAK !).
Also I just can't give up the extra HP from Heart/Moth, so I'd use Drill after I lost some initial HP/shield, (I used to use Diamond at this point) to get the edge if losing........or wheel to hunt down or run.

LOL EDIT#2 : I like lightning vengi for balance of speed and power, but a Goli that can now alternate drill and wheel has become even more deadly I think, I might have to dust off the Diminisher hee hee hee !

Thing is, why oh why, I always drift back to the veng lol, its what I have farmed and hunted with from day 1. And I can be stubborn too lol.

But with shield handicap.... yeh that is a tough one. The veng is a strike ship isnt it - it's those first few seconds where you know whether you'll get the kill, and you go all out from cloak - kami up, SB, (decel mbe), straight in. Then its either BOOM or punch that AB within seconds.

Well, you know, I would love to have both of course but I buy stuff on a slow trickle, and use it to the max. And I'm working on bio and shield/laser upgrades, so I'm limiting myself to one. So its got to be the right one.

Good to get advice from another veng pilot, that's really helpful - and I have seen at least one other lightning flying with drill so far. I believe, on reflection, that that's gonna be the one for me, you guys have made my mind up. I mean, †►ÐÂЯŦΉĢüДĻℓЙ◄†™ was like 'Drill!' right off the bat there too lol..

I have got both, and I like drill better..

Although I'm not in a vengeance the 20% extra damage is HUGE. And in a lightning you'll still be able to escape even without the Wheel formation. So I would recommend drill but it's all up to you

Get Drill FINAL. or if you box alot then get wheel then make your uri back and buy drill, dome, ring, vet. xd

 

I don't know or wheel is a good boxing design.. You'll have 0 shields when attacked, also vengeance doesn't has much hp and I don't think you'll be able to get away even with the boost, since they can make over 200K combis now

<boxes 4-x maps in spearhead, ulti cloak when seeing red dot on edge of my recon, investigate and run away.

not saying that you should box with 0 shield but if you are a spearhead then sure why not?

BTW, you can go in "signatures" and make your own signature everytime you post something so you dont have to type out "Dreamer." each time

 

Yeah but he doesn't have a spearhead like you ;p

And I know I can do that but I don't mind typing Dreamer everytime ^^
