[SC] Starting again need some advice

Hello pilots,

two weeks ago i started to play again (GB1 ). I used some money to improve my old account - Now my account looks like this:


10 LF4 between level 2 to 5
26 B02 no upgrades
8 drones all level 8
Drone Formation Bat
Rocket launcher lvl 6
Kami 3
2 Herc
2 Havoc



Two Hangers

1. Goli (venom and solace - dont worry i didnt buy them, i found them)
2. Spearhead + Elite (also found)

I have read some guides, however, im still not sure whether im going in the right direction.

Im currently doing npc ( 1-7 and 1-5) to raise uri (for the gates) and credits (Logdisk). I tried to solo cubes but it was very difficult for me - wthout x3 and SAP im not able to finish them of. Thus, i stopped doing this...


Should I go for an Aegis or Cita and dump the spearhead in order to do cubes?

An aegis with diamond would help you a lot for cubing . Also diamond formations is very important . Spearhead is good if you collect boxes / palladium . If you don't like that and prefer npc-s , you may replace with an aegis . Citadel is inferior to aegis in my opinion and for a suitable advance , I won't suggest it .
For gates i don't know as you have done kappa and zeta too . If you are pretty lucky , you can go for kappas . Otherwise , zeta's help you more with log-disks and booty keys even if you don't receive the havoc .
About the upgrades , they won't give you a big boost for that uri . As you started , finish the drone and the rocket launcher and then stop there for some time . Lasers and shields are too expensive for what bonus they give .
Not in the last , for the drones apis and zeus ... go only for zeus day and don't buy apis until it's very low at prize because after that you will still receive parts while collecting for the zeus ( today i got 6 apis parts and 1 zeus so .. very annoying if you already have apis ) .

 

I like what Jurjstyle said except for holding off on upgrading shields and lasers. It all adds up in the end. Having your shields upgraded helps you stay in the fight and upgrading lasers helps you to hit harder. Soloing cubes when the rest of your lasers, LF3, are level one is very hard to do, and the shields wont take it at low levels even with aegis, and diamond. Definately shy away from the citadel at this point unless you have a spare hanger for transfers.

I was not sure whether it makes sense to switch to an aegis in order to kill cubes. In GB1 the go for around 400 mil - i would rather invest these credits in logdisk.

 

Well, if you're patient enough, you could farm BKs and pirates at 5-2 in groups for the credits you need. But yes, aegis is the far better option if you want to solo cubes.
Umm..... for LDs, I don't really know. They go for pretty large amounts in US4. I think you'll be better off farming the creds for the aegis and at the same time gaining a massive amount of uri that you'll need. (Also, you could get a couple of zetas up from that uri which you could use for LD farming)

But it all comes down to your playing style. This is just my opinion

 

Upgrading lasers make no sense before you have plenty of LF4. When you change LF3 to LF4 you will gain 50 base damage as it goes from 150-200. But when you upgrade LF4 to level 16 you will only gain 12 damage, 200->212. And upgrading to level 16 costs 105k uridium. Average cost for a new cannon during 3x LF4 day is under 150k uri.

If you have 600k uridium and you spend everything on upgrades your damage will increase only by 72 by upgrading 6 LF4 to maximum. But if you spend everything on keys your damage will most likely increase by 200 since you will probably get +4 whole new LF4 lasers. And even without LF4 day, average is about 200 keys for 1 LF4. That still gives you 100 damage compared to 72 from upgrades.

The bigger the damage the faster it is to advance, indeed you must do the upgrades someday but it will be alot faster to do them when your ship is full / almost full LF4, you will do much higher damage to kill stuff for uri.

(yes, upgrades are cheaper at low levels 1-5 and it may be mathematically possible for them to give more damage but the gains are so small and the complexity is so big that I see no point)

I think you should concentrate now on getting Apis and Zeus since they give you 4 extra slots for shields or lasers. That is more than 10% permanent extra damage or +20% more shield in most configs. Spend all the keys you can gather only during Zeus day, that is when you are going to get Zeus parts and the price of the drone will go down. Buy Zeus when you have 20 parts since after it the price won't go down much anymore and it is more cost efficient to spend all the keys during LF4 day. By the time you have gotten 20 Zeus parts you should have gotten full Apis (45 parts since they are more common) basically for free.

I do not know about Aegis, it sure does make your life a lot easier since you do not need to go in gates to repair and solo cubes would be easier, but it is expensive. If I were you I would keep buying logdisks until having bounty hunter and shield engineering full, and then go for Aegis.

All of this is coming from a player who started with 2LF4 after a break without Apis or Zeus and built ship to UFE without buying a single piece of uridium, all I bought was premium and rebate package 1 or 2 times a year after having tons of uri piled up.
