  1. You are right about this.

Even more, there should be something telling a player about a guide being in the forums, or about there being a forums, because some players, like I when I started, don't even know there is a forums when starting the game, and even knowing, find the search not that helpful.

For the OP, you are right about the negative comments. I see them all the time. I am glad you were able to find help with this issue and look forward to helping out in the future.

  2. There's the darkorbit bible and countless guides in the archives and current forums. Not to mention players in game can help

  3. I appreciate your comments. The thing is, is that to take the time to locate and then read everything is time consuming. The explanations of items and how they are to be used should be in the shop area. Apparently it gives a whole different description that the description in the forums according to someone else in the conversation.

  4. This is one of the reasons I have said many time there should be perks for using the forums. This would get ppl to the info there looking for and force players to communicate more effectively. It would also get the players and mods on a more face to face like relationship. Which in turn would progress the game. But who am I to say!

  5. Your right, I am still learning about stuff after 3 years of game play. It took me months to find out about the forums, not to mention the DO Bible. When I started playing, nobody told me about the information that could be gleaned from inside. I finally got frustrated from the 15 pops a day and just sat back to see what every link does. I still have not figured out everything though.

  6. Perhaps make a forum link and info thing on start page, and replace that full screen one cuz really that's been there ages. Also she. You first start it opens start for you? Perhaps it should open a forum page too?

  9. To be fair to Meph: he was confused about how EMP's work, an item that can't even be found in the shop except after MMH's...so a new player looking in the ammo section to find a description won't even know what they are looking for, and won't find it unless its Monday?? That's sooo stupid DO  :( (Maybe showing those items greyed out all week will temp the buyers once Sunday rolls around, and educate people looking for info...ever think of that ??).

To be fair about being fair: EMP is one of the MOST basic essentials of pvp'ing in this game, a basic part of the game.....kinda like tripping over a boulder  :p !

To be fair to everyone: This game has made a strategic POINT out of hiding information about the game....it stinks, they should open the forum page on login and link noobs to the DO bible in the new "message" system no one uses lolz. Give a noob a break for God's sake !

So you have time to play, but you don't have time to learn about it? That's your choice, but you'll waste a lot of time (and money) doing things wrong. Investing few hours at the beginning is a small price for getting all you can from the game, while avoiding stupid mistakes. Search for "tips for beginners", "Darkorbit do's and don't's", "how to start" - these are pretty obvious questions for every new game you want to play... If you're smart you will do it and stop complaining for everything but you.

It's Bigpoint policy to treat newbies as they do, by not giving thorough information at the beginning. But it's your choice to play this game - one less player is nothing (comparing to people already playing or even other games they own). You want to be good - read, learn, ask questions, clench your teeth when you pop for 100th time (been there, as everyone else) and have a lot of patience (or money ;)).

    Good luck :)

...So many great suggestions on this thread, I hope they are put forward to dev.

re: having to read through lots - well I can see meph's point. This is like an arcade style space shooter, not Dungeons and Dragons or Runequest lol.
Pretty much everything revolves around combat - how about a 'Field Training Manual' specifically aimed at new pilots, detailing ships, weapons systems, abilities, special items, tactics etc... oh, AND adequate item descriptions in the shop, where MHH items are greyed out till market time - is this like a lot to ask? Could it be done?

And I see your point Rievhqar, totally, but its also our choice as a player community whether or not to put forward and push for game improvements. In fact its a pretty integral part of the Development Cycle, and ought to be encouraged.
I know this is just 'how it is', but it could be changed.

    Very best

  12. the most information came after this response... however, it does not help. We are supposed to join clans, even invite friends... however, there is too much double and triple teaming by those who do have friends on here, and those who actually play like clan members backing their fellow clan members up.

The clans and those running the clans are slow to approve your requests to join, and they and their members seem to lazy or refuse to act as such member of a clan. If this is the case, then clans should be dissolved... and players should be given the opportunity to choose to fight other players of just play the game alone, especially with all the ganging up that goes on here. To be fair... a player that has no friends, or clan members willing to act accordingly, the game becomes a complete waste of time. This also goes with those are big money players... I know from other games that those who can afford to pay out, they tend to be the worst at allowing others to play the game in a fair fashion.

So do not blow off the problem... Having gone through many of the posts... I can see that you do not take in consideration of the majority of posts or ideas.... especially in the fairness situation. I have been on several online games that eventually died out because of the very same thing, and the disregard of those who do not have the money to throw your way. Just because it is a battle game, does not mean that any new member should have to be beaten down daily because some coiner thinks it is funny. Take away that coiner's ability to control the game and see how quickly he will leave... in that there is no fairness.

  13. Aye. The issue is yeah it happened some before but now a lot of servers are running out of enemies to shoot, so instead they war their own company so they're not base sitting or cubing all day. Some clans have fun with it cuz they can fight back and win/tie. The real issue is the weaker smaller clans can't handle that, which makes them disperse their clan and often quit. Lazy clans can't just be dispersed. It's like with bots. You can't tell for sure and incorrectly persecute them. People still have life, things they have to do, the unwillingness to do anything.

There are new players but how to retain them is the issue. Just started a new account on a different server ( man i wish i knew now when i started a year ago) anyway i had ufe fe w/ kronus crown popping me in a lib (for the love of the game) stop shooting new players of any Co.

THEY WON'T STAY AND IF YOU GIVE THEM A LITTLE BREATHING ROOM THEY MAY AND JUST MAYBE THIS GAME WILL GROW.

I love this little game and want it to grow to it's former glory!
