  2. First. You need to make sure that all parts are compatable. When talking about AMD or Intel, you are talking about CPU. Most motherboards only support one type of processor.

Every computer part has specs that you need to look at.

Mothers, you need to know what socket type it has and what type of memory it can handle.

For example. My new computer I just built last month,

My mother board can only support intel. But can also only support CPUs that has a socket type of 1150. Any other CPU with a different socket type won't fit.

As for ram. The amount of ram you can use depends on the motherboard again and the type of ram is determined by the motherboard again. My computer to pretty much use any type of DD3 ram. I use DD3 2400 240 pin. 16 GB of ram. But I can upgrade and hold 32 GB. Depending if your motherboard can hold another stick, will determine if you can upgrade.

If you give me the exact name of your motherboard. I can give you all your possible options.

If you are looking to building a computer. Here is my specs. I am very happy with it and able to play CoD on it on highest graphics settings :D

    Asus Z87 Pro (V-Edition) LGA 1150
    16 GB RAM 2400 240 pin
Intel Core i7-4771 Haswell 3.5GHz (3.9GHz Turbo) LGA 1150 84W Quad-Core Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics
GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready WindForce 3X 450W Video Card (My pride and joy)

  12. You trying to redo everything? motherboard cpu and ram as well or just upgrade ram.

If you trying to rebuild a complete system. You need ram, cpu, cd drive, motherboard, graphics card. Harddrive, blah blah. And if you can find a kit that has it all in one, then your good. As long as it fits in the case.

Lol AMD hah, so bad for games. Intel or Nvidia is the way to go ;)

  14. I would go with a AM3+ socket MoBo so that it is FX AMD compatible. So far I have had a great deal of luck with the FX series 8 core cpu's. Making sure everything is in tune is a huge part. Make sure that the MoBo has advanced bios setting for configuring hardware. The sabertooth FX mobo has had some of the most advanced presets that I have seen in a mobo thus far. Including an all "Extreme" setting that is quite impressive. Like in a car, timing of certain equipment is important. Make sure to check the Mhz of your System Ram prior to installation. If your using an AMD FX cpu AMD has a simple to use "Overdrive" program that can assist with the overclocking of much of your hardware if its not available in your bios. Keep that CPU cool, spend the extra cash on a watercooler for your CPU (its gonna need it). GPU's now a days are a dime a dozen with decent generic versions of many name brand GPU's. When it comes to GPU's realize what your going to be using your system for. HD GPU's with 1gb dedicated ram or higher do very well for watching movies and etc and many online games.

  15. I would say to anyone looking for a ram upgrade or initial purchase go look at the motherboards QVL or Qualified Vendor list to ensure the ram will run properly, if the ram you have works ok go for the same brand/model you already have as another manufacturers ram is not guaranteed to work with what you have already.
