So, my idea comes from your drones being able to take damage and needing to be repaired, and being able to collect parts for the Apis and Zues drones.

Why not allow this for other equipment as well, such as your lasers, shield generators, and speed generators? Instead of having to pay full price up front, or happen to get lucky, players would be able to collect equipment parts to build their own equipment, or lessen the cost of buying that piece of equipment. Each piece of equipment would have it own type of parts needed to be collected, much like the Apis and Zues.

    How would parts be collected?
Parts for equipment could be obtained as rewards from Galaxy Gates, Galaxy Gate Energy spins, as dropped cargo from destroyed NPC's and players (will explain this one more), or from Pirate Booty Boxes.

Galaxy Gates: As a reward for completing a Galaxy Gate, the kind of part you would receive, and quantity of parts received would vary depending on the gate's difficulty, and maybe give grater rewards for a faster time completion, and not getting destroyed.

Galaxy Gate Energies: Each part would have a small percentage of being rewarded, with parts for more valuable equipment having a lesser and lesser chance of being given.

NPC's: NPC's could drop equipment parts in their cargo, making the cargo more worth a players time to pick up. Easy to kill NPC's would drop low level parts far more often than a part for something more valuable, and harder to kill NPC's would be more likely to drop parts for more valuable parts, but still drop lower level parts more often.

Pirate Booty Boxes: This one would be like getting parts from an Apis or Zues from booty boxes, except it would be for other equipment.

Players: Okay, so some of you might not like this idea, but here it is. This would make players have to pay attention to more than just their drones. A random piece of equipment that a player has on their ship would have a change of taking damage, and the "scraps" could be salvaged from the player's cargo drop. As a certain piece of equipment takes more damage, that part would become less and less effective to a point where a player would no longer be able to use the equipment because of it being too damaged to operate. The equipment would then be unable to function, and could be completely lost if a player does not remove it, or repair it. But, like drones, a player could repair their equipment for a small Uridium price, or they could repair them using parts they may have collected to bring their equipment back into full working order.

Also, equipment drops would only be rewarded by killing a player of a different company. Meaning, you'll never get equipment parts from killing your own company, not even in clan wars (Because there WOULD BE someone who abuses it and ruins it for everyone else). Also, the change of picking up equipment parts from a player could be based on on the difference in the player's levels. The closer in level a player is to the player they destroy, the more likely it will be they will damage their equipment and be able to collect a part. So no level 20+ players farming equipment off level 10 and under players. (Besides, you'd only likely get low level equipment off them anyway, if you think about it)

Building Equipment. Building your equipment would have the same principle as building an Apis or Zues drone. Players could collect parts for equipment, and use them to either make a whole new piece of equipment, or use those pieces to lower the cost of buying that piece of equipment. LF-4's, though, would not be able to be completed with Uridium, since you cannot buy them, but instead would require you to get 100% of the parts required to build one. (This is to prevent someone from getting one LF-4 part, then buying the rest of it with uri.)

Equipment of higher value, such as BO-2's, and LF-3's and LF-4's would require more parts to be collected in order to be completely built, while less parts would be needed for lower level parts.

So that's my idea of what can be added to the game. It wouldn't dramatically change how the game is played that much, but would add a new way to build up your account, and maybe even weaken your enemies at the same time.

I like the idea of building my equipment, but let's think about the cons. If you place new items such as parts in booty boxes, that lessens the chance of you obtaining a completed lf-4. I already struggle with hundreds of keys, as I'm sure many players do. I'm all for placing the parts in Gate rewards, cargos, etc. However, keep everything out of booty boxes because the probability does not need to be any lower. As for other equipment (bo2s and lf-3s), I already have hundreds of thanks to booty boxes in the first place, and many lower level players are capable of getting all they need for a ship from the auction house in under a month on minimal play.

Good idea, but could use some tweeking in my opinion.

How would this take way too long? If anything, it would help people build faster. I'm not saying this should be the -only- way to build your account up. You can still get the equipment from the Auction, you'd still be able to buy it outright, and you'd be able to still get fully completed equipment from booty boxes.

And as for those for are already UFE, well, of course you don't need to build up your account anymore. You've got everything. But here is the thing. If you're not skilled enough to be keeping up on your equipment, and wind up losing stuff as a result, are you really skilled enough to be playing with the big dogs? And the lower level equipment part isn't for you anyway. It's for anyone who is trying to build up their account.
