    Hello,

I have to complain about two things for the Zeta gate.

First, insane 3D Flash memory usage. If I am more precise, I made to 1815.32MB memory usage. If you don't trust me, please click on the spoiler below for an image proof. This is not the first time I have such a high memory usage. The previous Zeta I was doing, I got the exactly same memory usage. If I was not on a computer with a bigger RAM, I am sure I wouldn't be able to finish this gate because of the huge lags of the memory usage.

Second thing, I lost Internet connection on the last stage, i.e. on the Kristallin wave. When I have reconnected couple of minutes after I have lost the connection, and entered Zeta again, I found out that I have to do the whole last stage again. That means, you guys don't save any data that I actually came to the Kristallins, which is not good. I had to spend one more hour to come to the stage where I was before loosing my connection. I personally think you should fix this, cause it took me 2+ hours to finish the last stage.

    Regards,
    Devy

Why I should not show my drones? I have NVIDIA GeForce graphic card, and that 25 FPS on the image are because I opened multiple tabs the same time I was taking the image. I have 45-50 FPS all the time, even in gates. I don't have any high memory usage on whatever map, except Zeta gate. That means, it is not up to my computer that is doing that usage, or because of the high settings. I have been doing most of the crazy events around with high settings, and I didn't received any abnormal memory usage, nor FPS drops.

For example, I did Epsilon gate yesterday and didn't had any abnormal memory usage, like in the Zeta gate (which happens two times already).

I don't care about the life, I have finished the gate. If you can read it again, I was just trying to get the point into saving what waves were completed before I lost my life. I don't complain into getting my life back, cause its my ISP's fault, not DO's.

As a side node, when I have received the rewards from Zeta gate, and got teleported to 3-1 map, the memory usage dropped down to 300MB, which is normal and always stays like that (except when I am doing Zeta).

Well, I didn't asked for Zeta to be reworked. I just pointed out the problem, said what I had to say. :)

Came to upvote the League avatar. Downvoted for attempted rabble-rousing. :D

DO does seem to use quite a lot of RAM. It usually stay at around 1 gig for me tho, about the same as other games. Besides, who only has 4 gigs of memory? Modern standards are 8GB, and if you're running x86 you should just chuck your pc in a lake.

(That's what I did to my old desktop that I had to live with for 5 years)

The only reason I started this thread is to point out some problems. If you can see, this thread is posted under General issues.

After I have posted here with the all info, I have immediately contacted support to look into this, and I am in touch with them almost whole night.

Well, I found it strange for Zeta gate to use that high memory. Any other map or event doesn't make my PC use that much memory. That's why I wanted to point that out, cause obviously, something is wrong there. Maybe it's the background taking too much memory, should try next time without it and see any differences :)

i never encontered any problems with zeta gate, even whend played on less performant computer, but i play without bacground, vith rest of the setings to high.
in iour case,it must be high setings to blaim...
an another thing,it is a browser game,so as the rezult, amount of data to be excahange between server and client it depending of grafic setings...so lag can apear at high setings,REGARDLES of iour computer performance....it is the speed of iour conection to determin amount of lag.

Perfectly understood :) I do think it might be the background high settings causing too much memory usage, will try soon the gate without background.

Graphics are NOT being sent back and forth. You download or take it from the cache (which you downloaded before). Browser games are like any other game, the only difference is that they use a browser as a client base. "Download" games require you to install a client that can recognize the game files for that particular game, and execute them. The only data going to the server and back are coordinates and events (the rewards for an alien kill, for example).

The memory usage is how much CONTENT is loaded currently, which includes all textures, effects, scripts, plugins etc, so it's possible that either the map has higher quality textures than others, or that it's poorly optimized.

I understand if English isn't your first language, but the word you are looking for is LATENCY, which is a measure of the time it takes for a packet of information to travel to the server and back. Lag occurs on the user's end.

Just wanted to clear some things up.

I said that I am going to try it, as suggested by support too. Please, if you don't like my thread, just leave it and prevent yourself from further comments. Don't make me report you anyways.

Hm...I was doing kappa gate today and I noticed a bit of lag. Pressed F and saw this:

I went back to base after I finished the wave, and the memory usage went back to normal (~800MB in 2-1). Went back through the gate, still at 800MB, but with each progressive wave the memory slowly crawled up. Strange.

Now that I think of it, I remember the same lag while I was doing the Kuiper gate. I just thought my pc was overheating or something, because I've been running it all through the night. (man that gate takes a long time)

  12. Close chat - all that useless chatter is eating up your memory.

Chat cannot possibly be doing that. Do you know how little space text takes up? If you put the Bible in a text document it would only be a few megabytes. It doesn't need much bandwidth either...IMs like facebook can run on just one or two megabits/sec. (8 bits to a byte)

Exactly the same thing feeling in Zeta. Just my memory usage starts from 300MB, and goes up to 1.8GB.

  15. i say give your computer some matenice i use NVIDIA GeForce graphic game card i get 60 fps withith all on max in gates ferry raly lag in gates i do in normal maps at times when crazy cubicon are on

I never had above 50 FPS, have you made any changes into browser or something? Cause currently, I have my GPU specified to use the graphics as the application ask. I wonder, how much Firefox asks at my computer, cause you said you have 60 FPS :)

I just made it on predefined settings, to get the maximum quality out of everything. :) Will see how it goes later in game. Have you changed these settings, or? Maybe you use different browser?

  17. That is if you are using 2D...then it will cause lag, but 3D is a much better choice now days :)
