That's why I said with the same equipment it isn't possible. A max laser pusat with exact same equip as spear will always hit harder -15% damage from elite design and marker isn't enough to compensate. Spear is a support ship that can work solo if used right. I've seen a spear with over a mil shields hitting 40k x4, pre new formations so yes spear is still perfectly viable. It just requires more thinking lmao

 

yeah, more thinking, as well as more tactics and a decent setup, whether that being PP in the right place or high shields with the right formations and abilities/items in hotbars.
I said on day 1 that the aegis spear and cit were released that they'd be better off as a group combat unit and stick to that to this day, as, used together with the right teamwork, they are pretty much unbeatable

 

Yes that was their purpose. Spear supports dashedly making sure they don't run into a group of enemies, nor take too much damage, and supports their damage, citadel takes damage for aegis and spear, while aegis heals spear and citadel, as an organized group they would be pretty hard to get

 

like i said to most ppl on my server when 3d was released too; dome works great with cit, ring with aegis and wheel with spear but nope, nobody believed me until they tested it. took about 3 months for them to catch on lol

 

Truedat tho ring works great on citadel too. Dome could use a buff
