As the title says, I am having problems with the enemy locator of my PET ever since the beginning of the winter event.
Just to state, my locator is level 3 and PET has 5 level 3 radar protocols, which gives a decent detection range.

However, even though a message pops up that the Ice Meteoroid just spawned on the map where I am, or even being next to Ice Meteoroid (in "visual range"), I can't select it from the list of NPCs as it is - missing... simply not listed.
There are all aliens as expected (depending on the map) plus Icy, but no Ice Meteoroid. I tried reloging, turning PET on and off, jumping ports, clearing caches (both of them, yes), using another browser but the problem is still there.

Then all of a sudden the Meteoroid appears in the list after 20-30 minutes, leaving me clueless was it a result of some specific yet unknown action on my part, or the PET just decided to start working properly. I often wish it's not a virtual thing so I can kick it with a hammer.

Any tip, suggestion, assistance or instruction how to correct this would be appreciated. Sharing your eventual own problems will also help.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. put your pet away and get it back out after it spawns it will show in the list

    Thanks for the tip! :)
    Will try it soon.

    Cheers.

EDIT: Haha, it worked. Thanks again, would give you 2 likes if possible.

Obviously an undocumented behavior, or the lack of experience on my side.

    EDIT 2:
I got an excellent answer, but would like if the thread can be left opened till I get the answer to my second question, to avoid creating another thread.

or just switch the configs when it spawns , with this you will avoid wasting fuel

I tried switching configs numerous times but it never worked. And yes, wasted lots of fuel by activating/deactivating PET until I accidentally did it at the right moment, just after the Meteoroid spawned. Just as I said in my first post, I suspected I did something to make the Meteoroid appear in the locator list but had no idea what it was.

    Thanks for the advice anyway!

Haha, another advice to consider. ;)

  7. Once you have it set, don't change the pet settings unless you don't plan to do another one for the night. Save yourself the frustration.

I didn't change the settings but had to call it the day (night?) and log off. And naturally, the next day when I was searching for Meteoroids I was again in a desperate random attempts to persuade my PET to detect them. The worst thing was when I succeeded and had to jump port due to enemy attack... that meant going through the frustration all over again.
Like it wasn't already tough enough to even get to the Meteoroid and do some damage as it was destroyed when I traveled about 2/3 of the path towards the locator mark when it disappeared. Because there were 10-12 UFE ships farming them.

  9. I know what you mean. I am hard headed and got popped 3 times while doing just one meteoroid, but finally got it and finished my mission. But there were several I traveled all the way around the map to only have it pop right in front of me. My tablet gets so abused then. :p

Yeah, exactly... they were popping just in front of me and all that was left were "Icy cloud". Or if I get there before the Meteoroid popped, it was impossible to get a lock on it due to a massive laser and rocket fire in extreme crowd so I couldn't even tell where the heck is the Meteoroid.

BTW: Are these missions arbitrary to unlock the event gate? Because so far it's been very repetitive and actually boring. Kill Icy, kill Icyx3, kill Icyx5, ..., then damage Meteoroid for 50000, 150000, 400000, ... And the last one having a red lock on 2 Meteoroids? Well, that was a real accomplishment because it could be done only with extreme luck, with hard hitting cavalry coming 1-2 seconds after you grab a lock. Well, my server is a quite active. Maybe a bit too much. :p
