[GI] A shield.

I am wondering, how to make this shield and what it gives?

There's a skill called, "Shield Engineering," over in Pilot Sheet > Skill Tree. Once you get 5/5 points into it, you'll get it :>

 

Killer is correct about the shield bubble, however, that reddish orb looked like Energy leach tho. Which is a consumable tech item that you build in the Skylab----> Tech section. It lasts 15 minutes, and gives you back HP based off 10% of your laser damage.

If you ARE talking about the "blueish" hex bubble, then that is shield enginering, which gives you 5% more shield per pilot point in it, maxes out at 25% boost (level 5/5).
