[UI] New Activities/Maps

  1. Okay so I see there are a lot of people wanting NEW maps, New Quests, and more enjoyable Events. We have had some nice events that were easy for a NEW player (of proper level) to enjoy. Most of these involved FREE Galaxy Gates or killing new NPC's in current maps to bring out a Mother Ship type of NPC which they may or may not have been able to touch. Events of mention are the Parasite Tide, Killer PET's, and Halloween. Events like Hitac and DemaneR Freighter are a major fail for the NEW players as they can not even get close the the main NPC's without being popped to the end of their patience.

    The Icy Event was okay if you could play during the times the Icy's were spawning and the progressive missions were another nice thing. But as not all people could play the game at the same time they were scheduling the Icy's proved to be an issue.

    So lets put together a few new maps, some just show up as portals for gates (like LoW Gate) some are additional maps to be added to a third space map selection (show lowers, show uppers, special maps). These could be added to be the location they infiltrate our space system from and where we need to chase them back to. If they are maps then there is a NYX in the map that you collect the next mission or exit the map, these missions could be a daily Quest and could be collected one day at a time (not like the Daily Quests now where they are stored for 12 days and done at one time) but are a progressive series of quests that start the first of the month and change every day without repeating till the next month. If you die in the map without finishing the quest it remains until you return to finish it. These maps can be entered as a group or solo and are strictly for the purpose of doing these quests but you can stay in there as long as you want to.

    The special maps might have the Curcubitor and Boss Curcubitor where you have to kill enough of the Curcubitor to spawn the Boss Curcubitor and when it is killed then you automatically exit the map. Doing the same thing with the Gygerthrall and the spawning of the Gygerim. These first 2 have a limit of one Mother Ship a day. Have a third map that has the Killer PET's (all variations) which would have quests to kill certain amounts of certain variations this would be able to kill as many of all that you want to kill but has a total of one quest to be completed each day.

    Placing 3 new portals (x-1, x-2, and x-4 empty corners) to access the world of DemaneR, Hitac, and Icy. These would be a FREE G G to be done once a day as a solo or group but if you die in the gate you are unable to return until the server reset for the next day. This would allow the new players that have been chased away from these NPC's a chance to enjoy being able to kill them along with giving them some place to play without the worry of being killed all the time. Rewards would not need to be too special for doing these as they are optional items to be done but having some incentive to go into these maps might be beneficial. Future additions/Events could be added similarly and if set as a G G could fill the last corner of x-1 or could add a drop down menu when selecting the jump button on the portal.

    Entry into the following Special Maps could be from any map (except G G, Pirate or Special Maps) using the space map and selecting the map you want to go into (like using the Advanced Jump Chip) but would be a FREE jump to specified map (Parasite, Curcubitor, or PET's Entry) and any additional from future advancements.

    The Parasite map should be fairly easy to incorporate as these were exclusive to the B-Maps so just creating a background to place them into should be fairly simple, Halloween (Curcubitor) could use the same principles as they also had a counter to activate the Boss Curcubitor these Special maps would require a decision on the entrants part as to whether he thought he could solo the Mother Ship or needed outside help as once started can not add any help but could be in a group and have them come help them in the first 2 minutes of entry. These maps may even be made a little more interesting by adding some of the G G NPC's to break up the monotony of killing so many of the same thing to bring out the Mother.

    The Killer PET's would be a little harder since there were 3 per map and scattered between 5 maps and had 2 Alpha's that I never saw, this may require a set of 3 maps like the pirate maps (also be a one way system). The PET's maps could require more than just one person to survive the attacks of the higher PETS as they swarm on you, as such are not closed maps like the first 2. These maps would be PvE maps and only open to same company players with the anti-attack protection of the x-2 maps (Clan WARS and personal attacks would be VOID in these maps). The NPC rewards might need to be nerfed as they were excessive during the event (was needed to get people interested in killing them). They had 26 quests created for the Event and 2 G G Quests (28 total) they could incorporate the 26 Quests increasing the Lower Level some and adding 5 more for the 31 day months, again these quests would be sequential and if you missed a day then you would miss the last quest of the month, so it pays to play every day.

    Are there any other Event NPC's that I have failed to include that people might like to see in FREE Gates or Special Maps? What is you opinion of these Maps and Gates? Do you have any other suggestions to be added to the idea?
     
  2. I really like the ideas. I don't know how D O would attach them to the star system we have now but your suggestions seem to be very legitimate and might even get more people to play in the maps this way.

    Not sure how this would work but obviously just an idea at this point.

    Something along the lines of a pvp deathmatch map but with each team getting the same ships with the same equipment. So one ageis on each team one goli one venge, one cita and a spear. Or all the same ships. You can do it however you like.

    This way it would mean that it's the player that makes the difference rather than the level and all the shiny kit that they have. Obviously once players left the map they would return to their ships.

    At the minute lower level players try to join in with SB and get singled out a popped in seconds by ufe players.
     
  4. So you are suggesting adding a TDM map that forced the team to select their ships (as a group), equip them (with pre-loaded equipment), and enter into a battle with other companies teams.

    I could see this as a good and bad thing. The good (since all equal) is it takes the UFE out of the equation and puts skill into the match, would give a NEW player a chance to see what TDM was all about. The bad would be because it take so long for people to equip ships and they usually can not decide what ship they want to fly getting groups together may be difficult to do and then there may be long waiting periods for other teams to join, the other issue is the the UFE would still have the advantage as they have all the tactical skills down and would still dominate (they would not have the Insta-Kill from their status). Maybe if it caught on well enough they could do some matching, like the UBA, where they took the rank of the team and matched them against other teams of similar ranks (to make them more interesting).
