[SC] DarkOrbit Q&A Session #5 - Assembly Launch Date, Cross Server

  1. Well, once again, there has been a Twitch session that we did not know about unless a member of the DO page on Facebook, and had checked it today.

    Most of it was a lot of Blah, Blah, Blah that gave them a chance to talk but not really tell us anything. After watching the entire session, Assembly starts Monday. There will be another Twitch on Monday announcing it.

    The other thing was options for server populations and cross-server activities.

    They did mention an option to possibly move accounts from one server to another server. Also was mentioned was the possible move of entire servers to another server. What was not mentioned is how it could affect a player that may play on both servers with the same login.. For example, a player plays 2 or more US servers and its decided to merge all of them. There will be conflict with ships, equipment, hangers of course, credits and uri, exp and honor. They did mention that they have to consider "what" would or would not transfer to the new server or as they kept saying "Instance."

    Past that they mentioned possibly having common maps across servers, say like x-4 maps, and new special maps for cross server events. These bring there own level of issues like how many players could be in the maps, contact list, chat both in and outside of the cross server maps, and a few more things. This I found interesting, and not really as bland in information as what they gave for server/player moves. Unfortunately, its way down my list of important compared to the server/player move option.

    I hope in the future they could just stick with one subject. All they spoke of are huge, and more detail could had been forth coming in my opinion. Another thing they may want to think about is having practice sessions before an airing of the show. Since they are suppose to be coming on to tell us information, they need to stop worrying about questions and comments in the chat log. Get the information out there and review questions and comments after the broadcast.

    It also had me thinking the same thing as I play on GB1 and GB2 apart from the if's but's and maybe's the only 2 things that gave any real info was the new ships unveiling and the release of the assembly system on Monday ( thank god the the sound tech had queue boards ).
     
  5. FYI, they make a twitch stream every 2 weeks on wednesday. When they know what they're going to be talking about, they will even write it under Schedule on their twitch channel.

    I think they were trying to outline what possibilities are there, and things they face with any of those options. I can't remember 100% if they cited the issue of those who have accounts on multiple servers in this stream, but it's definitely been mentioned before so if they didn't mention it today I'm sure it's something they're aware of and thinking about :)

    We'll do what we can to give a heads up with the Twitch streams, even if it's a bit of a pending confirmation just so people can keep an eye out about that time. No promises it'll be perfect by next stream, but we'll get something figured out.

I did notice they posted that on the Twitch page, which begs to wonder why more notice, or notice at all, is not sent out to the mods so it can be posted to the calendar or an announcement put in forums. Also, they could have given at least a days notice in Facebook since they love it so much.
     
  8. Once again, this was a really interesting stream event. It was great to hear different kind of solutions for cross-server activity; there was 3 solutions for server population issues. I really don't like that servers could get "force merged", meaning that 2 or more servers gets combined together which can make some players quit the game. And these listed solutions are much better options than merging servers together.

    (My opinions to these solutions:)

    1. Transfer Account from one Instance to another
    If somebody doesn't like to play in low-populated server, he can swap server without any problem. But if this system gets released, there has to be either a cooldown (and A REALLY LONG ONE) or a limit for swapping servers. Otherwise the most popular servers gets too populated really fast and empty servers will loose most of the players.

    But there is also another side of the coin. Empty servers could also get populated because how empty all of the maps are -> Free cubicons -> more uridium -> more fun. This also include event rankings (uba, infection, scoremageddon etc.), auction (some servers have cheaper boosters and other items) and for some players, 5-3 map.

    2. Create access to hared zones/maps "Cross server Zones"
    This could be also a really funny idea. At the moment (in my lovely Sk1 server), pvp maps are totally empty (excluding bonus box botters). So how about doing something to empty pvp maps? I think this could solve the empty server pvp issues.

    3. Create special pupose areas for "Cross server events"
    Long time ago i made a post to a idea section about this. Like server wars (like, GE1 vs GA1) would be a nice addition, but in the end im not so interested to co-operate with my old enemies.

    As i said before, all of the solutions has pros and cons. I like to shoot solo cubicons and farm some uridium, credits and xp which works these days really well. But at the same time i miss old times when pvp maps were full of players and fights against other companies. Im a bit afraid that after these server changes im not allowed to shoot solo cubicons, causing me to looe all of my interest to this game :/


    I want to say also something about upcoming Assembly feature.

    It's nice to hear that you want to make these systems simple and straightforward, but having a 10% or less chance to obtain a crafting material is something else than simple. This "chance" of earning new crafting materials messes up the assembly feature because nobody can calculate how long time it takes to get a specific item.

    As i said before, get rid of the chance and instead of it, increase the resource cost of assembly item. This way players can really see how long time it takes to get some of the assembly items.

    And I also heard that you are happy with your current drop rates. But what about the players? Does all of the players agree with your drop chances?


    In the end i can say that Darkorbit is going to the right direction; not with the full speed but slowly and steady. Just get rid of the unnecessary chances and show us how to make assembly even more "straightforward" :)

  10. Could we not have events on certain servers, so they can only compete on certain servers.

    I think having empty server with very few UFE in will mean noobs will be able to build their own ships before moving it onto a more active server, Maybe having a new server for levels 1-16 where they are all the same company & build their ships, take the PVP out and allow them to level up and build their ships....
     
  11. the FAQ shoudl tell you and when u open teh screen for crafting hover your mouse over the ore it will tell you what npcs
     
  12. well the assembly will be on Monday so will have to wait and see how things play out hopefully wont be so bad. I'm actually looking forward too it and I watch the streams on there youtube page and I skim thought it bc the accent on that one guy is extremely hard to understand him at all. Im just hoping things dont take too long to build I do like the x4 ammo factor bc I can skip gates but I wonder if ista will be available as well and emp,I would understand no rsb or boosters but I think gate parts could be a factor too might speed up the process for people sinces in most server boxing is like pointless 200 spins maybe 500 spins for like 12 hour game play hurts even with full boxing set up still takes too long there tends to be more players in one server so messes up boxing especially with the decrease rewards in the boxes I remember when I could make 500 spins in 5 hours I mean what did Do do why why why would you ever mess with that bc of botters? you can deal with them without the need of effecting bonus boxes you have no idea how much it affects newbies I try to help them as much as i can but its not enough for what they need.

From what was seen on the Test Server you are going to be able to do most of the NORMAL ammo available in shop, I did not pay attention to the mines section but am going to say it will carry over to those also but I think since ACM is the only one there all the time is the only one going to be crafted.

    All of the GOOD items are going to be "Recipes" that have to be found/collected and used "one time only" and as stated would be available during Events Only. This even though the crafting system is a permanent item. I believe as long as you have the "recipes" you can craft whatever you want whenever you have the ores to accomplish the "assemble" function.

  14. at the end of the day its a pvp game we all started at the same spot the point is lvling up taking on bigger players bigger nps is training u cant just give a noob a ufe account cos it would pop just the same way untill they learn how to use it
     
  15. It's very demotivating to see that we need several hundreds of ores to craft one Surgeon/Pusat/LF4...
     
  16. DO sign-in/Homepage says."The fight for essential resources has begun." Nowhere does it say PvP, it is PvE to get PvR o_O

    If you eliminate chance out - the price of the 'item' would likely jump up x4 or more :eek:

    Bring on the server vs. server wars :cool: Poof in a server back to your original server and traverse the journey back to raid again :D

    Or could have a triple server raid with 3 servers :eek: Like JPA in another test server - all vru go to vru - all mmo go to mmo - all eic go to eic ;) That would eliminate MMC for a day fo' sho' :rolleyes:

  17. 5-3 is at its best when the map is full of people as the pally spawns more frequently.I used to get 1 to 2 gates built a day with all the spins I collected from pally, now im lucky to get 1 or 2 a week.

    For server merging and a player has an account on east 1 2 and 3 either all items are put on best ship, or each account remains a separate account and we can get to them by clicking the server button they are under.
     
  18. first point : hello, how are you ?, second point: cross servers , i think its the best option, so my opinion is ,wy not a server event?
    like a gate thath once crossed ,send us to the server we like? third point: transfer acounts, love the idea, wy not make like the firm change?so as an example : if i want to bring my FR1 acount to USA EAST COAST were i am now ,first i will lose all the honor and exp i already gained in FR1 server, second a payment of 5000 uri will be nessesary , i think this will ensure players to think before moving permanently,
    and it will resolve part of the fears of getiing crowded servers , and empty servers , plus i think its easy to do ,since its the equipemnts thath will change server not the numbres involved ( off course if this problem could be solved all the better, adding the honor and exp along the uri ,humm dreamy lol ) , hoping to get a reply ,all the best to you

    Server vs Server sounds fun - perhaps like the old style TDM. Even cross server clan challenges would be great - you could sound out clans for battles etc.

    Also, on a side note. What ever happened to the MOD vs Player events?

  20. Watch the Mod of Month thread as it states which mod is going to be in UBA on what day and time. They are still having the other events but they rotate servers and have been too busy with all these other events and Launches to have them recently.
