    Changes to the Tartarus and Mimesis ship abilities.

    Tartarus

    Rapid fire:
    New
    This ability loads your rocket launcher with the maximum possible number of rockets, and reduces your cooldown from three seconds to one!


    Old
    The rocket launcher reloads the max rockets amount immediately. After using the rocket launcher the cooldown will last 1 second instead 3 till it can be used again.



    Speed Boost:
    New
    Hit the thrusters! Toggle this ability on to change your base speed to 300. Toggle it off to return to normal speed. Please note that your laser damage is reduced by 3% while this is active.


    Old
    This ability has an switch function. So one you activate or deactivate it it stays in that status till manually changed again. The switching has 10 seconds cooldown. When used, the base speed of the ship will change to 300. The damage of any laser equipped on the drones will be reduced a 5%




    Mimesis

    Hologram:
    New
    This ability allows you to mimic the appearance of the ship you've selected (human or alien). You name, P.E.T., and drones will be hidden, and aliens will ignore you. Entering combat will disable your hologram.


    Old
    When activated and for the duration of the effect, after 1 second delay player ship model is transformed into the model of the selected NPC/player ship



    Scramble:
    New
    Your enemies will have an 80% chance of missing you. Your laser damage and speed will be increased by 25%. Please note that your shields will continually weaken while Scramble is active, and if they reach 0, it will be automatically deactivated!


    Old
    This skill can be toggled on and off. Player shield starts to deplete. Enemies get 80% chance to miss player's ship. Player gets +25% laser damage. Player gets +25% speed.



    Phase Out:
    New
    When you activate this ability, you'll be teleported 50 units of distance away in a random direction. This does not work in Galaxy Gates, the Ultimate Battle Arena, and on pirate maps!


    Old
    Player ship is teleported for 50 units in the random direction



    Biggest change there is that the Mimesis scramble will automatically be disabled once the player has run out of shields. So it is not an ability that can be left on whilst the player is running around on assassin/suicide configs.
    It will be interest to see how this ability interacts with Diamond though, if the Diamond shield regen allows it to stay on permanently so long as that player doesn't change formation.

    Hologram sounds even more fun now, sneaking around crazy cubes disguised as a Protegit will be popular I imagine ^^


    Slight change to Tartarus with its Speed Boost now lowering all lasers on ship by 3% instead of just the lasers on drones by 5%. The cooldown between turning the ability on and off seems to have been removed to.

  5. I'll be willing to bet Mimesis will be nerfed almost instantaneously after it's release. 25% damage and speed plus an 80% chance the enemy will miss? Yeah, the new wallet warrior special. That ship will be worth as much as a pnut by the time they finish nerfing it.
     
  6. SPECULATION: I guess that I will see some interesting interactions with Diamond Formation.

    You should worry a little more about ddos attacks ;)

    If this happens I want the lasers/missles going haywire to fly right thru...none if this hitting a non-existence hard target.

    Let me tell you another SPECULATION: Diamond formation will be nerfed when using the ability :)

    Hi Okapi,

    I wonder if you have come across the shield percentage decrease when the scramble is active? It only states "shields will continually weaken"whereas all other advantages of the scramble ability have been given percentages.

    (all comes from darkorbit facebook post, which included 3d model of new mimesis ship and its animations)

    The Mimesis is the first choice for long-range scouts: Implementing a state-of-the-art holographic emitter and cleverly rerouting your ship’s energy lines, this ship is M.A.S.Q.U.E.’s reconnaissance specialist.

    Available in Sandstorm orange (default), Blaze red (option), Borealis mint (option), the Mimesis lets you get in, hide amongst the enemy and get out of harsh situations easily.

    Tech Specs
    - Special Skills: Hologram, Scramble, Phase Out
    - Laser Slots: 12
    - Generator Slots: 12
    - HP: 225,000
    - Rocket Launcher: 1
    - Default speed: 360
    - Cargo Space: 1,200

    No, it's not mentioned anywhere at the moment.


    With these stats we can work out some basic configs ^^

    Damage: 32 lv16 LF4 / Havoc / Seprom / 20% damage booster / Drill / scramble active
    Hard to be 100% accurage with this but its as close as it gets imo.

    Drones:
    Base damage with ammo multiplier applied + laser upgrade level (drone XP level + drone design) + drone upgrade level + pilot bio + rock + booster value + (drone formation + ship design + ship ability)

    Ship:

    Base damage with ammo multiplier applied + laser upgrade level + pilot bio + rock + booster value + (drone formation + ship design + ship ability)
    • 63,314 (min)
    • 99,020 (max)


    Speed: 12 speed gen / prom

    • 720 (scramble)
    • 576 (no scramble)


    Shield: 12 lv16 B02 / Shield engineering / 50% boost
    • 271,688 (drill)
    • 362,250 (standard)
    • 796,950 (ring)


    HP: Ship Hull II / 20% booster
    • 330,000



    The big question now is, at what rate does the shield deplete with scramble active. Also Aegis + Mimesis teams should be really interesting to use.

    The mimesis is not as godlike as people might be imagining though, targeting cpu will make short work of one. It does seem to be very much a glass-cannon, will most likely need some help to keep the mimesis alive.

  15. IMO Mimesis is a little too strong for hunting, it will be a nice alternative for Pusat (more HP). If you have enough experience about the movements of NPCs you will be able to imitate some aliens with Hologram and killing the unlucky farming persons. (hard bait?)

    if mimesis wont be nerfed and A LOT it will be the last nail in do coffin!
    that ship with those specs will ruin the balance of ships we now have.

    lol seems someone says every update DO makes is the 'last nail in the coffin'.

    In a 1v1 a Mimesis is no way going to beat a Goliath if both have same equipment and same skilled players. All the Goliath has to do is use targeting CPU, one dead Mimesis.

    All this talk about nerfs before anyone has even tried it ...

    Ive never said before anything about coffins...... Ive never yet complained about do updates, not even the ring formation

    Yes in 1vs1 mimesis have no chance to run

    Think about yourself what this will lead to especially at lower population servers:

    EVERYBODY who can afford it, will be always running away with this ship and (maybe )after that theyll come with bigger group.

    RESULT: No more enemy kills, no more cubi unless being part of clan that can bring you instantly many players for help.

    With Pusat/lightning, wheel, ice rockets, slowdown mines, dcr rockets and emp+cloak people have the ability to run from every fight already. It's not like it doesn't happen already :/
    Even in group fights half the people will emp, cloak, drop a SL mine and run away.

    It's not uncommon to "win" a group fight without killing more than 1 or 2 people because the rest see they are about to die and just run.
