  1. Greetings fellow orbiters.

    As a guy enjoying watching twitch streams and also a huge fan and a player of DarkOrbit I would appreciate more people streaming. What they might be thinking is that nobody will ever watch it, so lets prove them wrong.. would u like more english darkorbit streams? I totally would

    You probably don't see that much twitch activity in DO down to where the player population is from. With south america and turkey making up a huge chunk of the player population, I don't really see that many people from those areas using twitch, compared to NA or EU.

    I tried streaming a couple years ago and never found that much interest, I think absolute peak was around 100 viewers and that declined once there wasn't any action going on for a couple minutes. There's lots of pressure to constantly be doing something interesting to retain the audience and that's actually quite hard to achieve.
    It's why the popular youtube videos of darkorbit are all highlight reels. It's pretty hard to find 10 minutes of interesting, uncut DO footage.

    Twitch is very nice for when there is a specific interesting event happening, like a mods vs player or even just a big clan war going on. Problem is they are rare and so there is no audience can ever really be built up around it.
    The developers use twitch for 1 hour Q&A / discussion streams though, normally once every 2 weeks.

    I agree it would be nice to see more activity there but its quite hard to make it interesting.

  3. The choice of time to record does not fit into every ones schedule and I have not found one that I cared to watch live anyway. The questions I have seen asked or answered have been the same basic stuff from forums and the answers given are not any better than the stuff we get told here.

    The demonstrations of upcoming upgrades show just how difficult it is for the designers to work with, and yet the kids playing the game are supposed to be able to deal with it easier (yea right). If these streams were better thought out and more decisive (give a better time line) there might be more interest, but as long as D O continues to UPGRADE the game as soon as the program is completed (instead of making sure there are no glitches in their testing of it) they will never be able to announce a coming attraction more than a day or two before it is there (they even announced that New Nemesis ship was ready for launch during Ship Expo but where is it?).

    So, yes it would be nice to increase the attendance of the live twitch stream numbers but then it is like ratings if you want the numbers then produce something people want to watch. Lets see we have the following ways of communicating with D O;

    Twitch Stream
    Discord
    Facebook
    Forums
    YouTube

    And I don't see any one of them actually any better than another, except I understand during business hours, in Germany, "discord" is the easiest to get directly to the D O Team and get a direct answer from them. But until they take pride in what they produce and prevent the major problems they have created and compounded with additional rushed changes I do not see any one wanting to waste their time watching some baboons trying to talk about a game they don't care about. Almost 4 months dealing with an Upgrade caused Lag is way too long to wait for it to be corrected, making changes to the game that requires the player to wait over a week to get a feature back is another issue showing just how little they care (Chat change causing so many people to have to supply information that should be in the Account History to be added to the server access so they can talk to their friends in game) I guess I was lucky I survived the May Upgrade of Chat just to lose it in July when everyone else got it back.

    what he said, and theyre so bad about timelines. they just say theyre working on it, or its on their to do list. they MIGHT say soon, but thats all we ever get. they should do it like a video game launch, say its coming this date if all goes as planned, and theyll push the date back if it has too many glitches. uncharted 4 got pushed back over a year, but came out with no glitches, and the players loved it
