[GI] Aegis/Citadel in auction with designs

I was away from the game for some time. I came back just yesterday and saw that, in the hanger, every ship+design were listed differently. Did the game mechanics change so, for example, from the auction, one could just bid on a citadel elite without having the actual ship in the first place and get the ship alongside the design?

I'm quite confused right now.

 

all ships designs are not classed as ships so all 3 citadels are 3 full ships.. you dont need to own a citadel to use the designs

when this was tested on test server and i saw how it was gonna chnage i bidded for teh aegis cit and spear designs for 5 mill each so when i owned them and new hanger came out i had all 3 ship

 

oh damn.....then I wasted a bit bidding on both the ship and the design. I didn't know

 

Not a waste as you will get the bids back if someone overbids you and you do get both ships anyways you just can't apply the designs to the basic ship anymore, unless designed for them like the Goliath skins or Frost designs for the Elite repair class ships.

 

so basically, a citadel elite is it's own ship now?

 

Yes it is.
All designs that change Stats of the ships are now ships the only things that are still designs are just cosmetic and are seen in a drop down in the top right of the ship information window as seen >here< under customization.

 

Certainly not what I was used to. You had to have the basic ship in order to use the design.

 

Yes it was a major upset when they introduced this the end of May and we are still suffering the consequences of the change from Design to Ship as the PvP quests are not counting the kills against any of the Designs but only the Basic ships, and very few fly the Basic Ships anymore.

 

Was there a test server for the change? I feel that is a major overlook in the part of the devs.

 

yes there was a test and yes it was a big overlook that sill aint fixed and no new info on it from the day of the update till now

 

The biggest oversight is that most people on the TEST server do not do Quests and therefore this would never be seen during a TEST Server run.

It is also one of the downfalls of not have a full time TEST Server allowing selected players to play on and report back problems found so they could be fixed before affecting the entire game but then that would have been a great thing for the Top Gamers Club to have been involved in or use of that group of players, but since almost every active player at the time the club was started was admitted to the club that would not have worked either.
