[SC] New Lazers and Shields

    This is NOT meant to be a rant Thread so please keep it nice and decent.

    Just wondering why are we having new lazers and shields at this point when many players do not have a full LF4 set up. Further more, I doubt whether the majority of the players have the right amount of BO2 shields at level 16.

    Right now, the main issue are a lot of bugs, which I don't see anything done about them and [this is mainly for GB1/2] the low population.

    I'm sure most of you are aware of the bugs and glitches and the GB 1/2 players will certainly agree that those servers are very low populated, at times we cant find players to fight with....
     
  2. The point of the new lasers and shields is to allow players to get close to the power of LF4 and BO2 without having to get them. You can get scatter gun 1 and 2 without doing a gate. Now that 3 gun, I would rather go after LF4. 20 gates for each one? Pass

    I am not really sure about the shields except they are suppose to repair faster than B02. All and all, its supposed to help out the up and comers.
     
  3. IMO you can get an LF4 (from Booty Keys) easier than the Scatter laser. If you look at the recipes, it require a lot of hardware. You need as Fe two weeks only for the Plasmid.
     
  4. Upgrade shields, too? 16 times more I dunno. Already upgraded the original shields.
     
  5. just more crap we dont need along with most the other junk they keep feeding us, i would be wasting my time moaning to the devs why they keep showering us with this @:mad:> ,
    but what really gets me is why dont they just listen to what players want, new maps, server merges etc, why employ someone to design new goli or pet skins,design a map instead with new npcs new quests etc

  6. These items then were implemented with a huge delay, if really what you're saying is the reason. The Scatter III requires a lot of materials to craft, unless all hardware are bought from the shop. It somehow appears to be even more rare than an LF4.....

    The bright side of it unlike the LF4 [ramdom 100% and no one - from us that is - knows the % of getting 1] even at a high cost it got a tag price....

    I still stand to what I said earlier, not all players have a full LF4 set up nor have their BO2s upgraded. Implementing new guns and shields that ultimately players will need to race and get them [that's the idea :)] wont fix the low populated servers nor will bring back players gone.
     

  7. I can live with the existing maps but new quests and high level dailies would be great. Maps may be something for a later stage, the thing is optimization of the existing game [and of course handle the bugs that showed up with the Hitac] along with server merges imho would be more helpful that pointless cosmetic skins.

  8. Oh my gosh...the new lasers and shields ARE upgradeable - this is the new UFE :eek:

    Not going to upgrade a whole new set of this...PASS out for now :rolleyes:

  10. I dont have any of the new SL III, or the SL I/II for that matter nor shields and don't know anyone that does. Personally have no idea how they perform. Now, the SL III if not mistaken is at 150 dmg points per 5 sec but its a CQC gun. If really are lower than LF4 I'll be a happy squirrel :)

    Honestly, i do like the fact that we are finally getting new equipment but i'm afraid it's not really... different. The scatter laser has a different effect and does have a passive ability which is a nice thought in general (we could consider this as critical hit), but not necessary. The crafting prices are just ridiculous especially in the eye of a casual gamer who doesn't even spend much time playing this game (or generally who is a gamer but doesn't spend much time on DO) and you can get more satisfied by collecting uridium for LF4-Lasers instead of those. If any future lasers are planned, i would recommend adding a pure PvE laser with a damage bonus VS NPC's and a heavy laser with a long recharge time but high impact damage... the ammo efficient type of laser to make this more clear.

    The shields... oh well, the shields are... dumb. Let's face it, for those who actually compared the recharge time of both just like i did the recharge save is just a joke... 24 seconds for fusion shield, 25 seconds for regular shield. Not really my type of shield i want on my ship but i would rather love to have a shield that recharged within 16 - 20 seconds... so the regular 6.25% or 5% based on shield's health. But i think i did put too much hopes into it... oh well.

    My opinion: Good thought, badly added. Would love to see something else than laser sticks... like plasma balls, constant beams etc...
     
  12. I have the SL1/2 and the Corresponding shields since they fit into my game plan, and are credit or free with the missions. I feel they are basically PVE weapons/shields at this point. You have to get closer to your target, and that is not always a good thing for us noob players. I can't really tell how the shields recharge faster since they are not really recharging during battle. NPC and enemy players with LF weapons start shooting you before you can start shooting if you have the lasers and can pretty much stay out of your range if they choose.
     
  13. PSK~SUNDANCE, the range seems to be an issue and yes the regular lazer user can always stay back. I like Zecora's suggestions and I believe would give a fresh air in the game but I wonder how the flash player will handle anything like that. Lets face it, its a 10yo game based on the flash player. Now, the FP has evolved but not to the point to handle unlimited data, after implementing an X amount of new items I see the FP cant handle the data. I'm not familiar with computer technology and have no idea if it would be possible to switch DO from browser to a client to download. From what I've heard, regardless the cores our machines have DO/Flash Player only utilize one hence the game isn't smooth.
     
  14. ™ĢЯÏM~ЯΞΛPΞЯ™, I fully agree. Flash Player is a major concern with the future of the game, and not everyone has a top tier computer on top of it. I personally play on a tablet, which works good for me but its now a couple years old and we know things change.

    I played around some more on my newly changed up Big Boy and am actually pretty happy with my new NPC set up. I spent some time in pirates and the SL1/SH2 combo held up pretty good. At level 1, I was able to deal with everything but the anni's with ease. I need to go back to grinding in uppers with is to see if I how that goes but have a feeling once I start upgrading them, nobody say anything, they will work out pretty good for me in my quest for credit power greatness.

Glad to hear you're doing fine with the new shields, as for your tablet being a couple of years old, from what I've seen dual/quad core computers aint much better as the FP utilizes only 1 core. You may need a faster cpu and better video card but the main issue are RAM and cpu power. Modern pc can have an impressive cpu power but that comes from 2 or 4 cores, which means since FP uses just 1 the power isn't enough.

    Definitely new content is a plus and it may attract new players but the game as is atm new content does more harm than good. Like I said earlier, instead off new lazers/shields and skins the devs should focus on eliminating bugs and glitches. Yes, this is one of the games that reward prem. currency for free. It's not hard to earn prem. currency [uri] and not many games reward in such amounts as DO. In fact the games I know off is rather insulting to get the prem currency they offer....

    Personally I would prefer besides the bug fixing an updated Skylab and not shields and lazers. A skylab that will correspond to the current needs, with a faster Seprom production and with a storage module that will hold few times more seprom from we are currently having. Further more, I'd welcome server merges [at least the ones that are at critically low population] in order to both keep the existing players and attract back the ones that left us along with completely new.

    Like I said to a previous post, I'm not a computer expert nor comprehend the complexity of transforming the game from a flash player browser game to a downloaded client. I only know one thing, if that would be possible most of the issues would vanish.
     
  16. Something players, especially new ones, need to know is that this new stuff is not set up to be the top gear. This is something that the transfer dev, I need to go to twitch to get his name, came up with for variety. Its all inbetween stuff to make it easier to get the npc killing done. With the general idea across the game being "Only level up LF4 and B02," The true potential of this stuff will never be realized by most players. Since I am willing to break that rule, it will be more helpful for me as I go along.

    Most players will need to just concentrate on going the LF3 to LF4 route. Its cheaper and more powerful. I can't call on if its faster though. Looking at the stats for LF4 and SL3, its hard to call it. I have seen the videos on youtube from the test server, but that is just not enough for me.

    Over all, if this was something that just this one new guy did while others maintain on bug fixes, I am good with that. He came from another game within Bigpoint to try to help out. If he is bringing in stuff that other games he worked on have been using, its fine, as long as it is working. So far, I don't see that there is any problem with the new gear except for the fact that its costly in the end. I am still bracing to see the shop prices for the last 3 items. Of course anything that is uri based will not make it onto this account.

    In the end, I am done with the event. The daily scrap mission would be better served giving out SH3, and the daily salmon mission giving out SL2. Of course you also have to actually see scrap drop. Going back to my regular routine.

    Yes, the scatter laser 3 is expensive as it is. However you are missing 1 thing - right now during the saimon event the drop rate of the new ores in gates is 100% that kinda makes it a fixed price for this laser. What you are missing is that this is ONLY during the saimon event, i.e. once the event is over this will be a drop chance as the lf-4s in the other games and it will make it much more expensive. So thanks, but no thanks
