Firstly, my suggestion is to bring back the old boxing! I'm talking about the old days where boxing the bmaps could bring in 25K uri!

But there is the issue with the botters, and the solution is simple.

Randomly pull the players into a mini map. Doing so does the following:
    • NEVER pull a player into a challenge mini map during pvp combat.
    • Can pull a player into a challenge mini map during pve combat.
    • Any mission timers are suspended while the player is inside of this mini map.
    • The player is teleported to their original location when finished with the mini map.
    • The player will receive a reward of uridium for completing a mini map.
    • Any cloaking disappears when the player enters a mini challenge map, but the cloaking is restored after the challenge map if the player was cloaked.
    • The challenge must suit the player. For example, if the challenge involves killing NPCs, those NPCs will be weaker or stronger based on my level and lasers.
    • A player potentially being afk will not be given a challenge. Player must be active.

I am going to give an example of what might happen for a legit player and a botter.

If I am a player and I am playing, I might randomly get pulled away from what I am doing. I end up in a strange little map. Much much smaller than an ordinary map. A prompt appears saying that I was warped because my help is needed. A Saimon, Lordakia, and Mordon are spawned. I am given a mission that says:

    Complete in the following order:
    • Kill Saimon: 0/1
    • Kill Lordakia: 0/1
    • Kill Mordon: 0/1
If I fail to follow the correct order, the map resets.
If I fail to follow the correct order some ridiculous number of times, maybe like 10 times, I explode and must repair my ship and am still stuck in the mini map until I complete the challenge.

If I was a bot, things might not go so well, but since I am human, I kill the NPCs in the correct order. I am given a thank you and am teleported back to where I was boxing. I was cloaked so my cloaking is restored. As thanks, I am given 100 uridium, and a few scraps or other components.

The above example is not the only scenario that could be given to a player.
Below I suggest the scenarios that may be given to a player:

    1) Kill aliens in a certain order:
    • A few NPCs spawn
    • The NPCs skill level is based on the player's skill level
    • A mission comes up: kill them in certain order.
    • Killing in wrong order = restart
    • Taking more than X amount of time = restart
    • Killing aliens in correct order = success, and given reward.
    2) The Maze Game:
    • Player placed in a maze map.
    • Make it to end of maze = reward
    3) "Spoderman" because **** you, that's why.
    • Not a mini-map related issue.
    • Disappears if not killed within 60 seconds
    • No drops, just credits+uridium+exp+honor
    • Can be attacked by anybody who sees is
    • Spawns next to the player being given the "random event"
    • Player can fly away, and won't be chased, but gets randomly and constantly pulled in, making it difficult to escape.
    4) The salvage run
    • Placed in a mini map.
    • Player's cargo is emptied (not seprom or others, just the 6 main elements)
    • If player has 0 cargo, then this is their time to get free cargo.
    • Player given a message: "Your cargo container has malfunctioned. The contents have fallen out. You must collect your cargo back (the orange cargo). Avoid collecting the booby trapped cargo (blue cargo) left behind by pirates.
    • Collecting all the orange cargo drops rewards player with uridium and other stuff.
    • Collecting one blue box drains all of the player's cargo again, spreading it back out in the form of cargo drops. Damage done directly to ship's hull (10% of ship's maximum hp)
    • Algorithm should be used to ensure blue and orange cargo doesn't spawn so close (or on top of each other) that the player can't click the right one.
Numbers 1 and 2 would be difficult for the most advanced bots to get around.

Bots that rely on the game screen being visible may have an easy time with #4, unless the background contains some blue colors similar to the blue cargo drops.

Number 3 should be used sparingly unless you want to piss everyone off. Seriously.

All 4 of these combined and at random times will basically render botting impossible, at least not for long periods of time. The user would have to be at their computer to complete the challenges. Failure to complete challenges in a timely manner could flag the account I suppose, but I feel like these would deal with the problem fairly well without human intervention.

Obviously many more scenarios could be added. The 4 I imagined up are just possibilities.

But if this form of antibot measure is going to be added, the reward must be worth it (in other words, uridium should be the primary award, and a decent amount should be awarded). Also, bonus boxes should have the awards buffed to match what they used to be before all this anti-botting nonsense started.

I would like to point out however that botters were never the main downfall to the game. The real downfall was the greed. Basically the LF-4 and almost everything after it.

  2. No, it should be called the "amasin Spooderman".

But IMO random appearing captcha codes are easier :p

  3. The only problem I see with this is if I am trying to kill a BK and get pulled into this "mini map" I am going to be ticked as I loose the ammo expended or the target when I return from completing the "task", in this situation it would be better to pull the player in after the NPC has been destroyed and cargo is collected (automatically collected at time of transfer).
Yea but then not all people get the Captcha Codes. I very rarely see them in Auction yet others see them all the time.

  4. Maybe because you need even the last seconds for bidding, Captcha Codes can stop this strategy and all efforts were in vain.

Or the Captcha system is bugged.

  5. I always am placing the final bid at the last few seconds to try to guarantee the win. And again I have seen the Captcha Code ONCE in 6 years of playing and bidding. The best thing to happen was the removal of the TRADE System. But it was great to get items for 1 credit as people were worried about losing credits if under bidding the current bidder, since the credits were lost and not returned.
