    DukeMongo, GB1, lvl 21.

Dark Orbit used to entertain me.......a while ago at least. Since being sold to the Chinese, I have witnessed the steady decline in everything. Premium has increased in price(blame brexit they said), cost of uridium has gone up (brexit again), subscriptions have gone up (brexit..again), player count has gone down, rewards from events have gone down, events themselves are poor to say the least, event quests are poor, no special bonus boxes on events or during the year on holidays, better rewards for the few players that pay the most, virtually unobtainable ships unless you grind for weeks and have the backing of a HUGE clan....bugs (dont get me started!!), poor technical/game support.....any more to list?, im sure you can.

On the plus side, banter in chat is entertaining!!

I think DO has peaked and is now declining rapidly. Will server merges change the game for the better...doubtful. Newer players dont stand a chance unless the seriously open their wallets. Its a nice little money spinner for BP until UFE accounts realise they dont own the code they pay for and decide to opt out of lining the pockets of others.

The entire games has moved away from PVP to a gate based shoot'em up. (Anyone remember SUECK on the Amiga. Now there was a platform that had serious potential). I know games must adapt but surely the heart of the game should remain?

Your thoughts please and try to stay away from 'leave the game if you dont like it' type of comments. Those are just plain obvious and boring!

    Regards

  2. The game is buggered and I agree with you on all you've mentioned. I found this game in Feb '06. It's been a great time, have never missed a login day, but as you mentioned the down slide has been very noticeable. I read excuse after excuse why this doesn't work and why that won't work.

My patience has ended. I've decided to toss in the towel and move on. I've run all my subscriptions dry and will not be renewing anything. My wallet is closed to Big Point now.

I'll probably continue to drop by once in a while see how things are going.

I agree 120% with everything you have said."any more to list?" you ask.Yes,for one, this forum is too damn strict.I see people's comments get deleted for no reason, rants and "update and idea pool" seem not to be taken seriously and Devs don't release official announcements themselves.I have seen strict forums all over the internet but this is ridiculous! This is more like a support forum rather than a discussion forum.

I too am running down my subscriptions. I will play until 06.06.2017 then that will be 10 years and I only do that because i have OCD, NOT. It just seems a nice round number. Another thing too is multi-company clans...how can you compete with that. You start on another company ship and before you know it there are 3 from your own company on you!!!

It would be nice for developers to comment once in a while rather than post videos of themselves slapping each other on their backs! Its a bit like managing directors swanning around in their big cars saying 'look at me and my success and by the way I did it by standing on your backs'.

But I suppose the website would crash with all the negative comments or maybe, just maybe someone might listen! Did you catch the sarcasm there just in case you missed it?

Devs dont even play their game. They have no clue that darkorbit was intended to be a terror scify space game. For them this is just something they throw some cartonish like ships/designs, overpowered gear and cosmetics and take some money back. Current players dont realise this game was not about doing a ton-load of dmg and have god-like states nor farm for years in gates to get said gear. Darkorbit was about surviving in space against aliens and (enemy company) players in a not so strong ship were skill kept u alive not overpowered gear.
More then everything it was the multiplayer version of wild tangent original, that simple but fun game was what we (old players) liked the most not the cartonish-200Kdmg-orbit here.

  7. As batata says, D O was supposed to be a Space Mining Game with PvP undertones. It was fun when you could rely on the protection of your fellow COMPANY Players. D O has lost sight of this with the loss of so many of its LONG TERM/LOYAL players who have seen the future of D O and decided to leave instead of INVESTING in such rubish. Top ranked players left the game when they were forced to compete with the NPC Grinding Gate Bashers that D O has promoted to be TOP Players NOW. YES PvP has become a major focus for UFE as they are tired of Bashing Gates for rewards they no longer need/want and then keep their standings by working the gates they have ready to run when D O offers SPECIAL weekends, thus further increasing their rank further without much effort.

  8. I tend to disagree gate bashing start when they change the designs and make them ships thats when all the pvp quest stop working
so the alternative was to give double rewards on gates there is nothing else to do but gates right now you do gates or quit

  9. Even the Die Hard, Die Hards are getting p o'd now:( It's now part of OP32 jobs to get them back on track. If he is still one of us and
they listen too him there may still be a glimmer of hope. However if he's been converted, the game is Doomed

Tbh DO still have all the elements to make the game great again. But do they have personnel talented enough to get the job done
the right way:rolleyes: Ive been around long enough to know that most of the time your success rates are determined by how good people
are at their jobs. So far its not looking too good. Everyone on team DO need to put they "A" game on. DO need to make sure the fixes, rebalances, bots, server merges etc. whatever needs to be their best worko_O NO MORE SHADE TREE PATCH WORK.

ATM it looks like the game is gearing up for another reload. Increased chances for Havocs/Hercs, new LF-4 lasers and spartan drones for whoever sticks around until this time next year;)

  10. The Gate Bashing Attitude started the downfall of D O and the IMBALANCE currently felt in the game. The Top 10 were the best PvP players in the game and you knew when one was in your maps (enemy) you either ran to port, died or had a group to fight them hoping you survived long enough to see them POP (which even 10 v 1 was difficult to kill them).

DO was never about gates, it started when they intruduced that noob ufe gear that killed the game by umbalancing pvp and promoting single player stile (aka gate bashing).

"right now you do gates or quit" yup most quit

  12. Some good points made here :)

Understandably fixes and creative additions take allot of time, this part is understandable.

Changes in management & Team members add to this time.
It's like giving someone a weekend off instantly Monday becomes "Retraining Day" :p

The way the game is progressing to me is good and I've always..ALWAYS said "this game is a marathon not a sprint".

Communications are fairly good here, we have a very good Forum and Game Team.
It was nice to see Verse come for a visit on GA1 last night. Was informative and enjoyable. Needs to happen more often.

    • Merges are a few months away I'm told, sooner the better I think.
    • Chat program being upgraded I'm told, very good.
    • Balance needs to happen. 3 shot kills are not fun but players do it.
    • To me, I think chat mods should be more active and informative. Just my thoughts
Yes I'm still kinda playing but really reluctant at this time.

Online browser games like DO are a money grab or do you think it's OK that a UFE account costs 700€ at helix 400%?

  14. I don't think any of it is ok and apparently DO has feels the same way. HELIX,DOUBLE REWARD DAYS, LF-4s in quest,NEW HAVOC, HERC %. This will help newbs get LF-4s, Hercs and Havocs faster witch is a good thing. Did a rough calculation and its possible to get
UFE for 200 to 300 dollars.

Wow, 13 posts!!! Seem to have started something here!!

Seems a little on the cheap side for GB1 taking into account currency value

Dont think that will change....in the long term. Why change something that brings in revenue unless they are targetting younger players with Big disposable incomes!

I agree totaly but I dont think I will hang around too much.

As FT said, I will probably drop by once in a while to see if things have changed enough to regain my interest.
My good wingwoman 'MadMongo' has already quit...

Keep posting and see if any Devs/MOds join the discussion

    Still......freaking 200-300€/$ for one freaking game?Most games aren't more than 20€/$.......

  17. If you're in a hurry to be UFE then perhaps it's worth it. It's not worth it to me. I'm UFE now but that's just recent, with in this year. I spend very little on this game.

Ship Kills 63,951 better part of those long before UFE

But I do agree with you. Too expensive for fast advancement.
