Multi-Company Clans - What to do?

    its either made one company.
    OR a non company member could not even apply to join by dark orbit rules
    Or its a free choice for all as it is now .

    lack of actual players have forced clans to accept other company people into their clan to keep them strong .

    The lack of actual players playing the game is down to shared Hades groups giving rewards for honer .which individuality they shouldnt have .
    For some it is impossible to join a hades group unless you are full ufe ,which they can take control of ranks for themselves .As they have .

    i raised this concern a year ago to the dev pyrotecnic at the time . he agreed but nothing has been done .

    Since then the game has steadily gone down hill and continues to do what what i have seen this past 12 months .

    The funny thing is that alot of guys think a server merge is the answer .

    I Dont think anything will change .unless they sort out Hades

  3. After having read all of the thoughts, ideas, problems, brought up I am a firm believer that it does not matter what is done, the MCC mentality is not going to be changed. This being said I come to the conclusion that the following needs to be implemented into the game;
    1. Merge the servers and create an access point that does not use Browser or Flash
    2. Destroy ALL 3rd party software from the game
    3. IF a member of a MCC then you have NO DMZ in any maps and you are seen as ENEMY in ALL maps
    4. Make PvP STRICTLY Company versus Company DO NOT ALLOW SAME COMPANY LOCKS PERIOD
    5. ALL EVENTS (Demeaner, Hitac, etc) are special maps that are COMPANY Specific, these are no longer PvP events, these access points to be similar to the Invasion Gates where ALL Levels of player can participate without being bullied away from main NPC
    6. Increase the protection to the NEW players coming to the game for retention purposes (all lower maps carry PvP protection from UFE)
    7. Decrease game imbalance caused by UFE addition (game was much more fun when an FE ship had a fighting chance to survive a battle)
    8. Make Advanced Jump Chip ONE WAY into Enemy maps and only accessible to UPPER maps if level higher than level 16
      1. It works like it does now in Company maps without additional cooldown
      2. Players below level 16 can use it to jump to any accessible map but can not use it to jump out of enemy maps
      3. It does allow to jump to other enemy maps of that enemy system (e.g. jumped to 3-7 from my 1-x map now can jump to any accessible 3-x map) but not anything else
      4. only quick escape is the x-1 home base jump chip
    9. Fix PvP maps like Infractions and UBA so people are not getting locked in them
    10. Create more PvP Maps and Events in them
    You have created a Game of HUNTERS/Gate Bashers and those wanting to enjoy the PvE Grind and the 2 styles are no longer compatible in the current state of the game. The WEAK are forced to grind IF they are left alone by the HUNTERS to do so trying to get strong enough to have the fun the GATE BASHERS are able to enjoy. No one cares about RANK anymore as only the money spending weekend Gate Runners have the opportunity to hold the top ranks, and they are only doing them so they get the ammo to destroy the weak new blood of D O.

    D O needs to decide if the game is about Company Supremacy or individual accomplishments. The addition of the extra Galaxy Gates moving the strong out of the maps, and into the gates, instead of protecting the all important Future Players from annihilation has created the issue of LOW populations and until this is corrected the only save for this game is going to be the continued MERGE of servers until you only have ONE server left full of the MCC clans trying to control the events against the BEST of the BEST of ALL OLD SERVERS.

    I've seen most of the replies.... this IS a COMPANY game, you have to choose a company when you join.
    You from then on are part of that company and play for the best interest of your company.
    MCC's are in direct opposition to the basics of the game... so they should be removed.
    There has always been the provision to ALLIE or NAP with other clans in your company or another ( to help each other fight a more aggressive clan). So no need for MCC's.
    MCC's destroy COMPANY events.... if they are to continue, then they should not get the company rewards from each event. During these events they could be handicapped by restricting damage/shield, etc... giving other non MCC clans the chance to stand and fight.
    They should be restricted in size to 16 max per company.. 3 companies x 16 = 48.. the max size of a single company clan.

    The chance to change companies without penalties is good... give them 2 weeks notice of the week in which they can change free of penalties.... then lock down transfers to existing system only.

    Personally all MCC's should be removed from game as it violates the basis of the game.
    With MCC's in game you have to fight 3 companies every event... it should at most be the other 2 that you are not in. Having your own company players shoot you down without them getting penalties, helping the other 2 during events is making it almost impossible to participate in the events.
    I know this to be fact as I have constantly got MCC's trying to stop me from playing the events.. so they can reap the rewards of events for just themselves. This is a game you expect to have to fight... but not have your own company shoot you down so the other companies can get the rewards.

    Hopefully good sense will prevail and MCC's disappear from the game... have MMO vs EIC vs VRU as it should be.

    I would like to add... I have just seen HelpMeHelpYou's post and he raises a lot of very valid points... the biggest being 3rd party software... there should be no place in this game for cheats... boot them from the game.

    To me this isn't just an issue about whether to have multi-company clans or not, but also about the direction in which events are taken by the developers. I do not believe the issue would be so prominent were it not for the fact that the majority of major events these days (i.e. DemaneR, Hitac etc.), are 'open-world' in the sense that the event travels in all the company maps, and given there is only ever one mothership spawning at a time, it's no wonder that these clans try to rule the roost to reap the rewards.

    Why do these events need to be 'open-world'? Why can't there be a single mothership for each company? It's much harder for those clans and players to be everywhere at once with multiple motherships spread across various maps, and so you immediately create a much more even playing field.

    I'm still waiting for the old-style invasion event to return that wasn't the horrendous pirate one...


    I am definitely of the opinion that multi-company clans should not be allowed at all, however as a player I have always been very much anti-war. Any solution that would result in multi-company clans being removed would most likely result in separate smaller clans that just decide to war other clans in their company, and thus the result is still very much ineffective. Therefore my solution would be threefold:

    1. Remove MCC entirely, with a grace period/token for players to change sides if they so choose.
    2. Change the direction of events so that they don't benefit these types of players/clans (i.e. less single mothership open-world events)
    3. Introduce changes that makes the game much more company-centric, including harsher penalties on those who chose to war other clans or align with clans in other companies.

    Game would be boring if they made some pve only maps or stuff...

    This is a company as you said, but not everyone will play for the company, they will play for themselves instead, letting the rest of the company people die while they fight against other companies.

    Getting rid of MCC will not change anything.
     
  7. I am not sure if its worth it to invest the time and write here but beeing the main Leader of one of the largest MCC Clans in Darkorbit for over 5 Years will maybe make this a bit more interesting to read.



    I am playing Darkorbit for over 10 Years now and i know all the generations of "playstyles" in that game.

    For me it actually would be a complete new challenge to have a clan on the same company and lead that company together with my clan like it has been back in 2009. I can imagine alot like company Teamspeaks/Discords containing all active clans and even more. That could come back and i am sure it would work - when you find the right path.


    Reading your dev blog was very interesting and i think that having a
    strikt ban of MCC Clans would be the right solution.

    However the way to that strikt remove is the most important thing - because if there is a wrong decision, alot players will leave.


    I would definitely recommend a free company swap period.


    There are a few things which make that inescapable.

    - A free swap wouldn't ruin the existing and obviously working MCC's. After that swap they could change their playstyle having a working clan already and build new structures on the company they have choosen.

    - The community is so small lately that in my opinion the game can't afford another loss of hundreds of players. The existing MCC Clans will break up if they don't have that possibility and alot players will leave. That is a result of the absolutely absurd high honor points of some players who won't risk a loss of 1 billion or more!

    - Speaking for us on GA1, i can tell you that we are at war with the Top 2 Clan just for fighting and having enemies. (even if it doesn't look like that sometimes, that was the initial agreement.) Facing the MCC removal i would contact the leader of our enemy clan (Suicida) and discuss which company each clan will choose (obviously different ones) to keep GA1 alive and continue having Fights.

    - Additionally to the last point, alot events which can't be played nowadays due to MCC's could be joined by each clan then and that would bring back alot fun.

    I know that this solution would break up alot ranks but after talking with alot people of our clan they agreed that they would like it more to be on one company having all the ranks on that company in our clan (and probably having a lower rank) than having a big rank and beeing on different one.

    There might be other opinions but most people of us (rank freaks; 30.000.000 Rankpoints and more.) said that. Also, seeing the Server merge coming, there will be alot new Ranks on the companies if they keep it like that.

    I would also recommend not to delete MCC Clans directly, just kick all members and leaving the Leader and the Tag behind (Talking about the game history - Some Clans exist for alot years and don't deserve to be diretly deleted.)

  8. Since all I see is that the 'skilled players' are 'bored' and want 'action' in posts give it to them. DO already has the code and the ability to give them the challenge they want. Make any player in a MCC clan an outlaw. Along with the status they lose the boosters and bases can shoot them. OUTLAW STATUS is the corrective action. Watch how many 'friends' suddenly realize there is a penalty for jacking up the game.

    Because since the bases came out this is a glitch they used. You cannot defend a base when it doesnt shoot half the attackers. They should all be red as an MCC is a company enemy. Players have quit because of this and you are losing real money.

    Then again its a waste of time as on my server we know who is in the MCC group yet again.

    I like the suggestions, however, they can be tweaked...

    1. PERMANENTLY: Charge a substantial amount of ingame URI to swop company, with no stats penalties (or minimal loss of hons) that way players will think more (OR LESS) before they move.

    2. Any players currently in a MCC that is is not their own company can receive a bonus/ incentive- once they leave the clan. (To encourage them to leave). This feature is an option that could only be booked once. :rolleyes:

    3. Company only clans should receive slightly more rewards from aliens, to discourage MCC's...

    ...No sanctions, less disruption... And positive moves! :D

  11. So, I want to state clearly, I hate MCCs especially the ones on USA1. Greedy, selfish refuse ... and those are the nicer ones.
    The problem is, the top MCC clans are also ground zero for pushing, botting, driving away new players etc... so my empathy for them is lacking. Congrats Dark Orbit, you created the problem.

    My first instinct.... ban em all, let god sort it out. But....

    To be fair, many are indeed friends and want to play together. Also, server population is waning and server merge (can't stop laughing at the idea) will fail if something isn't done about MCC clans before than. MCCs + MCCs = nobody to shoot at.

    So... here are some suggestions...
    1. Embrace the logic of Kill the noobs, you kill the game. I just love to watch some broken-english UFE chasing littles around. How brave. But how stupid because we have all seen new players last about a week and decide...it ain't worth it. Noobs are the future, help them, teach them, mentor them, let them grow to understand. Believe it or not several years ago, there was more of a community of people helping the littles get to FE. Not anymore. We have several clans at the top competing for how many weak players they can drive out of DO. WTG knuckleheads!
    2. Heavily penalize MCCs for blocking fair access to event NPCs. One way is to create a no-pvp state in the event maps. This includes no more dropping of uber-mines in the event maps (Hitac, Demaner, Ice Meteoroids, Crazy Cubes, etc). No shared boosters on event NPCS in the lowers. I'm not worried about me.... I'm saying this for the sake of the game.
    3. No wars on significantly weaker clans. Clans can't develop if they are constantly warred by UFEs. This could be controlled by a ranking system that would average the strength of a clan. Clans could not war other clans more than a rank below. Maybe even give weaker clans an opt-out of the war so they cannot be continually gleaned by stronger clans.
    (corollary to that .... a cooldown period before a clan could war the same clan... this can help address pushing too)
    4. Shared damage and HP boosters, etc will not be active on Event Npcs. This de-incentivizes dominating the events. The alternative would be to host a hyper-UFE version of the alien on a specific map for them to troll instead.
    5. ENFORCE the rules. No five day ban for botting or pushing. It's bye bye time. Had DO gotten tougher on this long ago, the jailbreakers who created this mess would not even be in the equation. 30 days in the hole minimum. Second offence 90. Third - done. (I don't want to hear how hard this is to catch. A lot of us were told botting was a myth and it was just lag not all that long ago.
    6. Create better content. If you give the bored i-got-every-gizmo-in-spades crowd something else to do, like hyper-UFE NPCs then ir gives them something to aim for. Get creative developers. Run a contest for new event ideas. No more repackaging Vortices ... the Vortex of Mild Annoyance seems to be in development.
    7. Stop the pushing of Hades and QZ gates with shared honor and EP boosters. The ranks are ridiculous and frustrates people who don't spend their paychecks on an otherwise boring games. Progressing up the ranks is an incentive but if you work 8 hours on quests and jimmy moneybags zips up past you in n hour via credit card... that's a disincentive.
    8. Try to build a sense of community within the factions. Encourage the clans to build that. Not sure how but the health of the game is the conflict vs community. I remember massive invasions with players responding in massive battles. Jumping port to see Spider Lady and 50 ships and I go instapop... but it was awesome. Bring back the awesome.
    9. Last one... If an MCC clan is attacking in the home map... Mars MCC group attacking a mars player in 1-3 let's say.... any "home" team member in the group gets negative honor (and shared booster would worsen it).

    But really, just get back to the old factions instead of this schizophrenic multipersonality version of clans...

    The grace period isn't that great either! Some players may not be around during it...During a holiday or something, so, the grace period may only work for some...

  14. You have named all the problems associated with MCC. When you have events like today's HITAC the weaker ships or companys don'e have a chance. They dominate every event. Players are quieting the game due to the fact they can't participate. I like the Free company swap period followed up by removing MCC. I think it would work..
     
  15. well i think for one you guys should somehow direct new traffic to the less populated servers like america east. add a ship mode that costs 1k uri for 8 hours of a anti pvp sheild in game time unless you shoot first . multicompany clans should be like switching companys you only earn half honor . remove other company clans allying with other company clans . companys are supposed to be competing agaist each other not allying with each other thats the base the game was built on any multi company stuff shouldnt be aloud in my eyes. you can take something away but introduce something much better at the same time to balance the player anger . for example remove anything multi company . but introduce a unique item for players affected by the change like a pet design that doubles bonues boxes with auto loot . or just realse a cool item for everyone like a Grid sattelite . a drone that launches from your ship and travels in a grided zig zag along the map that gives you details about everything currently on the map like ( bonus box amount , alien types and counts and locations , booty box locations etc , but when it comes back it has a selection to click what you would like to see but it travels pretty quick . it would be a cool item or something like that but balances the anger from the change . if you take something from a baby and they cry trade them with something better they become happy.

  16. i think the chip that cost no more than 5000 uridium, 1000 uridium would be cool, that last 8 hours, and have an anti pvp shield unless u atack first, is the solution, this way, that mcc can kill the npcs on the events, but we can shoot too, oh i almost forgot, mines cant damage you with the chip, but you cant use it on certain hours or events, for example you cant use it on beacon, spaceball, etc, maybe if you enter a pvp map, the chip is turn off automatic, or something like that, or maybe my ideas at update and idea pool, for example ad rone formation, a just pve mode.

    about mcc, i think they are a problem, for other clans or clan base station, so the limits could be:
    mmc cant have nap or ally pacts, they cant have more than 1 base on the entire universe, if 1 eic is atacking a vru, and this mcc member atacks vru too, but he is vru, he will get the full punish, even if he didnt get the kill.
     
  17. I like your ideas too...But all these new content ideas may be tricky to implement? Therefore, when introducing new outcomes to the current system, it should be positive and cause minimal disruption...
    In support for the current system, MCC's can be horrible for newbs and I do have sympathy for them. On the other hand, we've all been there. I hated MCC's at first...But now I don't mind them because I think there is actually less trouble in the game. From my view, I have less problems with MCC's seeing as clans are populated with players from other company's (especially my own). I suggest that if a player is experiencing issues with MCC's try going clanless.

    ...Maybe, DEV'S should just implement something that could help CLANLESS PLAYERS! instead?..

    If you were about to do the new ranking system anyways, I assume that it won't change how the points are calculated, if the company swap makes the rankpoints higher (unless you're not doing it like immediately after server merge like you optionally "planned"). I personally think the company swap could work for free without losing the points.

    Because this is company vs company game, why not closing the possibility to get allied with enemy company clans or changing that system a bit, so similar system won't happen? It's complicated and difficult, I know, but literally this system which we have now does nothing, like stated in the first post. Let's mention that back in the days (atleast on my server) there were 3 clans by same, let's say organization, each in different company, allied together, but didn't helped each other unless there was a huge trouble.

    Sometimes I still face some players griefing the Cubikons without a clan, this is also a kind of problem, even though it's not disallowed. Many players won't like that their Uridium is getting stolen, and they should call a guy from another company to destroy them to not lose any honor, but may be harder, if MCC or alliance didn't exist.
     
  19. I believe deleting MCC will not resolve the problem, infact they still can create 2 clan with same/similar names and organization, killing and abusing events as right now.
    The third option you intorduced in your Devs Blog is the one I prefer at the moment.

    Organize and create a New Company, and do away with MCC, call the new company (outlaws, renegades, misfits, assasins) , this new company could fill the void of friends being in diferent companies. MCC's create a big conflict in PVP play, because if ur on a quest which
    requires u to kill say 20 players from another company, u run into the risk of having a whole clan attack u because he's part of a
    MCC, and that's another way of getting around the honor/expeireince thing. As far as spaceball it's every man for himself in that game,
    because i've internal clan fighting during spaceball.
