    Summary:

    Server Merge:
    • the main script has been completed recently (everything is ready for testing
    • through Christmas)
    • they will merge servers with same/similar timezones and languages (e.g. Britain can not be merged with America servers)
    • first timeline: they will start rolling it out in January with few servers
    • more detailed ETA should be announced in the end of January
    • they will let us know which servers are going to be merged next etc.

Example of "Server Merge" and how its gonna work:

  2. Just a question based on the example of server merge:
What will be the official Global chat language of the final server used? (ie: GB2>GB1>GE5 - english/german mix?)

  3. Don't the Global servers allow you to choose what language to use? I don't know as I don't play them but thought I had read this in a post somewhere before.

Yes they do - it usually assigns you to the language that you choose upon logging into the game ( drop down in top left of the log-in screen).

  5. Sorry, I'll be more clear; each server has a global chat, company chat, and clan chat if you are in one. It wasn't the server, but the actual global chat thta each server has. If GB2 ends up merged with GE5, what would the official chat be on it's own global channel?

It won't matter, the server will be called Global Europe X and you will be able to change the language from the backpage before logging in.

  7. GB2 is Great Britain 2, GE5 is Germany 5.
It usually followed that only the language of the host country server was allowed in chat. My choice of language would not be the host country, as per the example shown.
Same as in a global server, it is/was only english allowed and other languages were not accepted.

That was my concern on this issue.

    1)GE5 = Global Europe 5
    DE 5 = Deutchland 5 = Germany 5
At least be more specific and don't use abbreviations if you want us to understand.

Oh and German servers won't be merged with English or other language servers.

2)Yeah, and that's, apparently, your choice.

    3) "it is/was only english allowed". On the english chat only english is allowed, on the german chat only german are allowed, same goes for every language that you select to play with when you login to a Global server.

  9. 1) I do apologize. Abbreviations can be addictive. All these years I was under the wrong impression.
    2) This was based on the above wrong impression.
    3) Glad to hear that default languages will be kept the same as it will avoid problems later.

I would like having all diferent languages chat together, it would be kinda fun seeing people writting in diferent languages on chat.

My understanding was, that in selecting servers to merge, time zones not lanuguage was the overarching factor, and that when servers merge, while undesirable, it may be the case that when some non global severs are merged together that this will end up with two or three different languages spoken. Until the full server merge maps are released, we can only hope that these merges improve the game and dont have an effect where players from a particular country are hunted out the game. I saw that happen before on GB1
