[UI] spearhead

    I noticed the spearhead is rarely used these days. Why doesn't it get a buff to its HP? Today 100k+ combos are common and it can die in one or two combos with an Ice rocket. I know its not meant for killing people in, but its very weak and rarely used because it can die almost instantly. Any other thoughts for improving the spearhead?

    Spearhead is a tactical ship and is not made for fighting purposes. Also, it is getting a slight buff, for not taking any damage, but dealing some damage. Please, see [Pre-production] Balance Patch: The Emerging Light and scroll for the Spearhead.

    Still too little, either offer x2 damage bonus in all but the lower maps or the U.C. should be accessible while under fire if the ship is supposed to be a tactical ship and not a fighter.

    The boosts being offered still fail the pilot in a pvp based game.
     
  4. That's the point. Spearhead is a recon ship, it is not meant to be used in farming, shooting, etc.

    Dev's won't do anything about it no matter how much you cry anyway :rolleyes:

    trust me been it more than in gb1 server a guy in game that his a good player took out 4 golis a spear for me a pet is aboxing ship but thats me
     
  6. Boxing/Recon are about the same, and a SKILLED player can make a fight in any Ship (even a P'nut) but this ship was not designed as a fighter and too many people think it should be. They forget that those 3 (Spearhead, Aegis, & Citadel) ships were designed to be support ships to a group of players and not individual fighting ships, but since so much of the game has become about Solo activities (too few on, that want to grind NPC's unless in Gates) these ships are being seen as incomplete in the usages they are currently played thus requests for them to be changed. IF the Merge works then we might get the populations back that will allow players to use these ships as designed again.

    The designs have failed.
    As tactical ships they'll continue to suck while destroying them is too easy in the reg ships being employed all the time.

    They can't out run or out gun the commonly used ships.
    I see too many of the ones feeling content to bury this idea also whining that this is a pvp game.
    With that line of reasoning they should either back ideas to improve the firepower of ALL ships to match that notion or just shut the hell up if they are too stupid to see the point of threads like this one.

    Promoting the idea of this being a pvp game and hiding behind the fact that this is a tactical ship or even claiming to have seen a single player sporting an unbeatable version of this ship the way it is now only reflects your inner coward for all to see.

    Yea, ofc if you go 1v1, but in group fights using Spearhead e.g. CBS defending or attacking putting mines in cloak, preventing abilities and such, making group deal more damage, that's how it should be. Get some mates to play with to use this ship like it's meant to be used. Period.

    Are you suggesting that these ships should be removed from pvp availability or that it should be an option if they are being employed?

    I hope not, I enjoy flying those ships but I don't play well with others.
    Making a ship that needs a group to be enjoyed is just as weak a notion as this ship is in battle for most players.

    Nah, just nah. The Spearhead would be OP if it was harder to kill and made more damage, depending of how much of this would be added, but in your case I don't think we're talking about 1 or 2 slots or few 10k's of hitpoints. Skilled players make it very powerful already and in right hands it could just dominate the whole game.

    Then even the Phoenix is a great ship to use.
    I've met very, very skilled UFEs that used Phoenix at times, and even I counldn't kill them.

    Am I to believe that more skill will miraculously make this ship impossible to destroy for PvP???
    Are the right hands being referred to a UFE pilots hands?

    I ask because I've spent months in the past farming 4-5 aliens for hours at a time and the only thing that destroyed my ship were other pilots.
    This ship needs to be harder to kill just to be effective in this PvP oriented game.
    I'm not asking for more HP or speed, they are a moot point at this time with the damage combos and the speed of the commonly used ships.

    With the ship hp and speed being as is, it needs teeth to be useful again or the abilities it has must be made less stringent.

    I believe UC should be made available while under fire and a x2 damage boost for the lasers and rockets similar to the leonov ship in the lower maps must be made available. The boosts listed in the link from one of the posts above are a good start but without the suggested boosts I offer in this post the Spear will still suck as long as an enemy pilot decides to interrupt any Spearheads farming.

    No, because why would it have to be? Why would you use Spearhead for farming, when you can use Tartarus, Goliath, Vengeance, Aegis... the list is long.

    Because I like the look of the Spearhead ship better than them other ships and I don't own some of the ships you mentioned.

    Why else would a post be created here in forum if not for change?
    I'm willing to pay money for the upgrades I mentioned to the Spearhead should it happen, why not give me and anyone else willing to pay for it what we want?

    It is my opinion that options not new ships should have been offered from the very beginning, having the ships we have now be the same but let their size reflect their class ranging from star fighters, star jets, battle cruisers, heavy battle cruisers to tactical ships.

    This way we choose what ship we start with and upgrade them as we wish.
    Upgrade them like the pets concerning the slots, class of ship it can become and choosing the abilities we add to them.

    The ship classes would determine the size, speed, hp, cargo space and number of abilities. The number of abilities would be strictly limited to three but the tactical ships would be privy to more.
    The tactical ships would be more expensive but the number of abilities available to them should be greater.

    I don't think that Spearhead or Citadel should necessarily lose one useful ability in group PvP, just because they needed to be turned out more PvE. Citadel is heavy tank that offers protection (in CBS, in everything), lacks some damage, is slow and has a big cargo. Spearhead is weak, but fast and hidden, gathering the information and used as a scout. Aegis is only one of these that has a PvE usage, but in the long term, even Goliath and Hammerclaw steamrolls over Aegis.

    None of these were made for solo purposes and that's how most of the people want them to be. I won't see any reason to change these ships that could easily change the outcome in a group fight, especially when we already have a lot farming ships and not those tactical / situational ships (Spectrum, Diminisher, Solace, and Sentinel as exceptions).

    Making them good for solo play is what is needed since this is a PvE and PvP game.
    Most of those farming ships look like crap to me, I'd rather have a ship that I like made powerful enough to farm and fight in.

    The spearhead ship is too weak for most to fight in and unless the ship is given the option to not be included in pvp except by choice "which I would openly accept" by the pilot while farming.

    That would probably be the balanced route to go since this is a ship meant to be weak in battle.

    Yes, I see too many posts based on the lack of balance in this game.
    Also with the notion of this being a pvp game, all ships expected to be used in this game shouldn't be created weak for any reason.
    So "just No" back at ya.
