The lower the "time to click" the harder it is to get a lock.

As you know, you must get a lock on your opponent to attack, it turns out that the area you can click on is different between ships. To get the diameter, I simply passed the mouse through the ship and measured the distance in which the mouse changed from the arrow to the pointing hand.
By dividing this value by velocity, we can have an impression of how difficult it is to click.
Note that dividing a distance by a velocity gives time: L / (L / T) = T, however, since velocity is not in known units, the "time to click" is an arbitrary unit of time that is proportional to the second.

  2. And then don't forget about the PHANTOM LAG that changes with each Map/Server and is never the same all the time. You also have not included ALL of the Ships. Lightning, Yamato, Defcom, Goliath Skill Ships, Hammerclaw, Mimeses, and Cyborg all missing and when did the Phoenix get known as the egg instead of the P'nut?

Lag... i think i have an idea. Maybe latency*velocity...I have to think about that.
Well i dont own all the ships so i cannot take measurements. If you provide data i can add. Lightning is there, in the vengeance row you can see the speed "748" (afterburner) and the corresponding number "0,053476".
"...Phoenix get known as the egg instead of the P'nut" Innovation

  4. Lightning is a larger footprint than the Vengeance they can not be the same, can they?

I did measure it, it was 40mm just like vengeance, at least in 3d.

  6. Okay I only play 2d as I suffer too many issues in 3d and said I would never play it again, especially since they will not report when an issue is fixed and I hated having to logout with every portal jump. But in 2d stacking the Lightning on top of the Vengeance the Venny is completely hidden by the Lightning

All this numbers came from 3d. I will take a look at 2d when i have some time, maybe it is diferent.
Ps: Btw, I assumed that skill designs from goli and citadel/aegis/spear elite had diameter equal to the base ships.

  8. Aegis Elite is smaller, Goliath Skills are different sizes.

  9. Hi All,

Wow, Hey DO you got some brains here. Let them loose and they can fix the problems we have.

They have the same clicking diameter, i just measured diminesher and it has the same 53mm of goli. Same goes for aegis. Notice that i am not measuring the size of the graphics but "the distance in which the mouse changed from the arrow to the pointing hand".

    :D

  11. Game devs tend to give objects (in this case, ships) of the "same class" the same hitbox.

Let me use GTA San Andreas for an example. A vehicle in the game called the Sanchez has a hitbox that is larger than the bike itself. Normally, if you were to shoot BB pellets at a bike in real life, it would only hit the bike "where it exists." In the game, it won't go through the tyre's spokes, because the game registers the bike to be there in the "empty space."

Or, TL;DR - A box is sized to where the entire bike can fit inside the box (box is invisible). Anything that touches the box, can interact with the bike, anything that does not, doesn't touch the bike.

You can destroy the bike by shooting the empty space above where it dips down between the seat/handle area :v

yup, they have the same hitbox, regardless if it's 2D or 3D, it's the same size for all ships to be honest.

my bet is lag for OP.

If you take a ruler you can measure by yourself. You will get the same data or close to what I got. If it was indeed lag causing this differences you would get very different results for the same ship, which was not the case.

same size my dude, both for the flash version and the 3D version, eye-checking is different than the maths inside it...

and since i don't want a forum ban, i can't exactly help you how to read the files of 2D and 3D clients, ask google.

I dont think using a ruler to measure a distance can be classified as "eye-checking". Regardless of what the code contains what i know is that when i measured it, different numbers came out and those numbers were consistant with the ones i had adquired months before. Moreover, practical experience tells me that some ships have smaller clicking areas than others.
Ps: For some reason i cant quote you without getting an error.

  16. Is the post you quoted still in the thread, bet it is NOT. You were quoting a post that had been deleted while you typed your response. I found this out a couple weeks ago, the same way.

The post is still there, i think he might have the quote option disabled. As you can see i can quote you without any problem.
