[GI] Auction

I'm assuming this is happening to everyone but why does it require some code for placing a bid on any item in auction? Unfortunately my computer is slow as it is but now with having to enter some code it takes 40-50 seconds for me to place a bid. When was this thing implemented and any sign of it going away? Thanks

 

This is an ongoing issue that has not been addressed but is the result of the creation of a bidding BOT that allows a player to designate what they want to bid on and place a final bid on everything in the last few seconds. I went years without seeing it and I can bid on everything in the auction (ships and drones excepted as I own all of them) but lately I have been selected as a possible BOT placing my bids and see it about every 5 bids but then I can still go into the next hours Auction and not be hindered again until I log out and re-enter for the final sniping I need to do on the Popular items.

WE might see the removal IF they find a way to prevent the use of 3rd party software in the server.

 

I believe that the faster the bids and rebids get entered, the more attention the system gives to it. Having multiple auction windows open may allow faster re-bid action and thus draw attention to a potential bot-like action. It could look like a 3rd party software even if it is not.
Might want to test that out.

 

welcome to my world. it happens all the time in the last 20 sec. I'll bet it's like 75% or more the it stops me from using the auction. I never use more then 1 tab so don't count on that . They added a virus to the auction, plain and simple.

 

Yep, and now with an extended captcha that fails you no matter what.

Confrimed. The captcha fails you no matter what.

I haven't bid in hours and I'm still locked out of bidding. When I get everything correct, the security measure still fails me and locks me out.

It's best to edit your previous post in the forums vs posting a different post cause then they will give you a warning about bumping the post up to the front. Enjoy the game

Just as a warning to all, and to be communicative, try not to bid faster than every 13 seconds, or wait 13 seconds after every 4th or 5th bid, to avoid being caught by the captcha and suffer being locked out of bidding.
