[SC] ON THE HUNT

  1. Hi All,

    I'm looking for a pilot. I don't know what company or clan he is in but we met on 3-7. He was cloaked and was laying mines so that I would kit them. I was at my space station attacking aliens when he first attack. Now my space station had added protection of mines that I didn't run into. I tried to located him, but for some reason I couldn't see him on the mini map. I was lucky and locked on him by accident. It was truly luck. Now I could fight back and he ran like a rabbit. I don't know if I can put his name here to ask who he is.

    What concerns me, he ran to the 3-8 gate instead of 3-5 gate like I thought he would. So I was wondering if it was a fellow VRU.

    Back ground: For my main question:

    I fly a G-Surgeon which has 16 slot for generators. On my fighting PvP Configuration I have 10 shields and 6 speed generators (other configuration PvA is opposite). This happens several time now fighting players running away and I can't catch them. I will say they started it and I wanted to finish it or die trying.

    Now for the main questions:

    I seen a lot of different post. One player has all speed and no shields. He said shields doesn't help and speed generators are better.

    DOES SHIELD HELP?
    SHOULD I REDUCE SHIELDS SO I CAN MAKE THE CHASE?
    WHAT IS A GOOD RAITO FOR SHIELDS AND GENERATORS?

    As a stated, one config is 10-6 and the other is 6-10. I don't think aliens are as big as threat as players so that is why I have more speed and to hunt them down when they run.

  2. If the player is flying a Tartarus you will have a very difficult time to catch that ship being in a Surgeon, but you can catch it if it runs towards a corner or across the map. If the pilot has the Tartarus and uses Wheel Drone Formation you will not be able to catch it at all.

    Personally I have "Ice" Rockets on a hot key and DCR Rockets on another hot key. That slows them down good :p

    Tartarus in speed mode goes 621, with Wheel Formation 644 just so you know.

    As for your question, yes shields make a big difference in a fight.

  3. I would change my PvP to all Shield with Ring formation and PvE I only have 4 Shields the rest Speed and have Wheel Formation on Hot Key to switch to if needed to chase PvP runner. Like FT said have the different rockets that slow the running ability of the target at the ready to use also. The reason you could not see the player is that he was probably a Spearhead using Ultimate Cloak.

    A true test IF they are friendly ship you will get warning on top of screen that you are attacking a friendly (same company ship), but then he was laying mines on you that is not very friendly to me. You will not lose anything unless you actually KILL them.

    My Clan Leader said about the same thing it being a Spearhead. That is wasn't one of our company if laying mines. The only thing I didn't mention of the conflict was when I did accidently locked on to him/her the target ring was white. I didn't see or noticed getting warnings of attacking same company.

    Thank you all for the information on shields. I use the ring all the time, and I will take the suggestion and add more shields for PvP config.

  5. The "white ring" just means someone/thing else had the lock before you. In this case you would not get the warning if you fired on them, unless you did get the red lock before they died. But if it is your First Friendly infraction it is only 100 honor points lost and 100 Rank Points (for now) the honor resets (subtracts 1 violation) at server reset so you can kill 1 friendly a day and only ever lose the 100's without the escalation taking away all of your honor.

    BUT I would not suggest doing it as it will cause some friction between you and your clan if killing another clans members in your company.

    I would have the Wheel at the ready (quick slot) on your Speed side just in case you needed to run or catch a runner.
