[GI] Server Merge

We will start the year with one of your favorite PvP events, Domination, and then move directly into the big server merge project that we have all been waiting for. You can look forward to more populated servers, a new leaderboard system, and some changes to the assembly that you have all been waiting for. Let’s make year 12 the best one yet!!!
So just wondering what's going on as this has been typical of DO to not have things ready when they say. I hear there is another Pirate Event coming soon so are we doing a server merge or not? Or is this a way DO is trying to keep players around promising something that's not going to happen? I was wondering if they know what a deadline means? From what i get is it means just another thing thing keep postponing. I mean the Code at the start of the year didn't work and DO said sorry tough outta luck, and again now Code again doesn't work and now they say they will give it with a log in bonus. Just wonder why they didn't Do that for the Code at the start of the year?

I guess if they had have done the same thing with this Code it would make them look real bad that they can't even get a Code to work on a game they manage. That's kinda where I am at with this server merge were all waiting to see if they can actually fix this game right but their past skills of building this game has only shown that they can't. There are posts about how wrong these event's are and how unfair they are with multi company clans and yet they think these are what they should run every month while they keep extending the time of server merge.
So my question is do they actually have a time they are going to merge the servers or is this still just talk about them wanting to merge the servers?

 

Well I can say other than your first lines there has been no further information on what is happening. I would have spent some money on the game IF I was guaranteed to keep all of my accounts but there is questions about this that seem to be ignored by the TEAM also. I believe they have found the test runs they have done failed (like everything else they try) and they want to prevent losing the populations they have so they are still working on trying to finger out how to make these mergers work and not lose any accounts in the process.

 

If they have done test runs and they failed, it could imply a silver lining to the process as they actually had some testing done and not just gone ahead and did it, then sweep up the bits and bytes later.
It would have been nice to even see a general report that said they tested and still had some work to do to ensure it worked properly... but, what the heck, brief report would have taken a minute or two away from the work.

 

They TESTED Kuiper Gate before its release and is why the UFE's knew they would make bank when it was launched as every completed gate rewarded the 200K Uridium and was never fixed before the release NOW (after they became billionaires with the Uridium) it is fixed and is not worth building let alone running the gate.

 

Sorry to break your heart but that question was first question answered and answered in every stream if you just would have watched them. It has been never ignored by the TEAM!

During their last twitch stream they said merger is expected around beginning of March. They have also stated many times that nobody is going to lose any of their accounts equipment etc. They said that once they are to start the mergers they will announce in advance which servers and when. This is a big project and one wanted by many in the community, therefore they must make sure everything is set and in place. Rushing into it could lead to a ton of issues.

CodeofHonor, right now i have let my premuim run out, and only log on to transfer sep, all i need is rock solid confirmation that the server merge will happen to continue playing, every week discord is updated with the weeks/months up coming events, can we be updated about the merge at the same time, please please just keep us updated about the server merge because being silence just make us think its not happening the maps will stay empty and the game is boring, which just makes players like me quit.

You have been updated in every stream DO has made, regarding the server merge. They told us every new information they had and mostly it has been only that when it will happen and those were only Estimated Time of Arrivals which may be delayed by the bit. There's a lot of variables that affects everything.

 

I am sorry but the TWITCH Streams I sat through were all over glorified Chat sessions that never addressed the issues of the game and the last one I watched showed exactly why everything they add is bugged/glitched as they had no idea what they were doing and that was the education of the New Hangar, I tried again on the B'day broadcast and again saw incompetence at its prime. They even stated that they were on schedule to start about mid January, at that time. So estimated dates mean absolutely nothing to the community as we have heard these numerous times and they do not happen. Another example go back to April 2016 Twitch and tell me what happened in the 2016 Ship Expo that was supposedly ready for launch and finally added to the Assembly last year? Save yourself time it was the Memesis ship and Tartarus was going to be released just after the Expo took over 3 months longer than predicted and still had bugs and glitches.

They shut down most of the FIX work so they could focus on the Merge and all I see is a Major fiasco waiting to happen when they finally start making the merges. I do ever so much hope they have created a batch of Mirrored servers that they are going to be merging before they merge the LIVE servers or those players MAY no longer have access to their accounts. My crystal ball says they will start merging the servers in January 2019, assuming they have anyone left spending money on the Broken item they call A GAME.

 

Why so salty about everything? Your attitude towards anything in DO tells a lot, why do you even hang on the forums to be honest? All you really do is mock them about everything, go and do it yourself let's see how many bug free servers you can make.

In fact if you ever hear what they say in the twitch stream, you wouldn't even write this. But maybe it's your attitude that makes you completely deaf and you focus only on the bugs and issues what is in every game and a lot. There's been a line where they even said the script is ready and it's tested, it works, but they do all their job to make sure no data is lost and before they do the merges, they need to set up the every other thing as well. They shut down the game, merges the servers, check it works and then waits for another servers to be merged, then shut down, check it works so on so on.

There's other things than the database itself where the data is stored. They need to make sure that after adding the drop-down menu they talked about in last stream about the account selection it works properly as well. A lot of variables, a lot of changes. Why you're even waiting it to be exactly there, when there's never said an exact date of happening. Everything has been assumptions and hopefully after this post you and everyone else knows that they don't want to break the game and they know by themselves the game is broken from some parts. All you had to do was listen.

I am in positive mind about this, but as well with attitude "I don't even care", because haven't even been that active. I am not waiting and expecting good results or bad results, don't know why you should do the same. If you're so skeptical about this, just play the game (it seems you even don't) as long as you can instead of complaining here about every issue there is now and then. Help the people like you used to.

i'm sure the team use the same db's for the server files, problem is the indexes as you probably know, db 1 place 1 - somedude, db 2 place 1 - anotherdude, db 1 equipment place 1 - somedude's items, db 2 equipment place 1 - anotherdude's items (and so on)... and that is a pain to merge.

i am positive as well, and i hope they kinda push things like mobile games and their server+phone transfer methods, but given the streams i kinda like the "character select screen" type they hinted, but i wanted to be able to move to a certain server as well given their script's behaviour, like move to GA-1, then move the same account to USW-1... would be fun really, like having a minimum pop % to be able to move, else you won't... to prevent dudes moving into ded servers to get quips (or not).
