I do not know the statistics related to what type of people play DarkOrbit, but in case they are predominantly of one or two types, shouldn't an attempt to attract the 'minorities' of online gaming be tried? As well as to show some support for those in need, such as people with disabilities. People with mental health problems that are looking for an awesome and relaxing game but cannot completely handle all the stress that comes with it. What about very young children that just want to have fun and not be bullied.

I think the real problem is that people can act... different on the Internet. From being too aggressive to just being obsessive and even the stalking type. The moderators are doing a good job with the chat, but on the battlefield is hell. I understand this is a PvP action game, but there is such things as taking it too far.

If you are interested in creating a game that cares about who you are as a person, than maybe this issues could be considered.

The way I see it there could be two ways of dealing with this. Either offer special treatment for those in consideration, or make their issues known to the other players and confine that they will behave when knowing the situation. The first option could be approached in many ways. The second could be achieved by making use of the yellow titles that appear under the ship. For example it could state: 'Very old person', 'Disabled', 'Depressed', 'Pacifist', 'Fighting cancer', 'Social anxiety'.

I understand it could be difficult to prove that the one behind the keyboard is truly what/who he/she says, and some trust will be required (as well as some id and paperwork) but wouldn't it be great to have a game that care about who you are!

First of all I feel like nobody likes to talk about his or her problems and have a sticker printed on them saying that they are different in a bad way. Second of all this will just be another opportunity for toxic people to hit them where it hurts the most. Lastly as if anyone would even be honest about this. And who is going to share his or her medical file?

Darkorbit is not there to help people with their problems, it may function as a way to get away from them temporarily but that's it!

If DarkOrbit doesn't want to do this out of principle, they should think about it this way. DarkOrbit is a product, and as any product it should be accessible to all variety of consumers. This includes those with special needs. What could that be? The need to be protected from other people's behavior towards them. Online gaming is cruel! That doesn't mean that those who can't handle it shouldn't play. Rather companies should try to modify things, small things, but things that could make a great difference.
As for how people could prove that what they state is true without involving BigPoint with their medical files? There are third party apps that can act as an intermediary. For example there is an app where it verifies your age and when at a store to buy age restricted items you can show it on your phone (the app with a picture and just your age showing, no other details).

  4. Honestly; no point in arguing about this.

BP is restricted by laws that would not enable them to do so, and doing such a thing will not reap them any economic benefits.

  5. This is the most ridiculous idea I've ever read on these forums, please tell us you're joking :')

Believe it or not I posted this suggestion with good intentions and in a serious manner. This, obviously, doesn't mean that my idea was the best approach, or to be more precise, the example.

It was based in the real world, as there are for example handicap parking spaces and those who need it need to have a badge on their car saying they have a disability. Or for example when parents put 'baby on board' stickers on their cars hoping that other drivers will act with more caution around them.

I would appreciate it if from now on you would, in addition to calling me nuts with a nuts idea, explain a little why you don't agree.
    Thank you.

  10. You are trying to add ADULT thinking to a game where KIDS (even if they are adults) rule and as such is why your idea is nuts as you are expecting people to play differently just because of a "SPECIAL" label.

Do you really think a teenage driver cares about either example you have given from real life? How many times have I needed one of those "Handicap" spaces to see they are occupied without the proper placard on the vehicle, besides I don't need my knees to play this game but I do to walk into the stores.

  11. Nicvk I've noticed you're spamming the update and idea thread quite a bit with your ideas. If you really want to make a change then go to the French servers and translate your idea into French and post it there. They take ideas seriously, their whole update and idea forum threads are designed to actually bring ideas up to the big whigs at Bigpoint.

Here on the English Forums, it seems as mods don't care and there is no feedback from any representative claiming that our ideas got passed along.

Please do not accuse me of spamming, I am not spamming.
I do not speak French and it will be hard to communicate my ideas there.
To be honest, I believe that Bigpoint actually takes into account our ideas very seriously. But if they don't pass along, then they are maybe not good enough or do not go along with their agenda.
The real problem on this forum is the community. They seem to look for ways to make ideas look bad rather than help improve them. Bigpoint didn't add a 'down vote' button here for a reason, but people don't seem to get that.

  13. Nicvk you are spamming. You've posted 11 times just on the first page of the update and idea thread. You're bumping everyone else's ideas downwards so that we need to manually scroll pages to look at them; most of which will probably never get that courtesy because the average forum person doesn't dig that deep into this section of the forums.

I'm asking you to be courteous to the rest of the players here on Dark Orbit and drastically reduce your postings; so everyone can have a fair chance of their idea being read.

    Thats all I'm asking, thanks.

  14. Labelling / Profiling ... no, I do not agree this is a way to go.

If 'real-world' needs to be brought into it, then maybe a type of 'simulation-world' game is more suited to labels.

  15. No, lets be real, this would lead to bullying in the game, which already exists. This is beyond terrible, and you should feel bad for even suggesting it.
