Here is the description of circumstances:

Ship was Leonov with 3 hyperplasmoids and shared HP booster, but HP doesn't matter as DD mine directly attacks HP by fixed percentage instead of fixed amount of damage.
Flying at the edges of map looking for gold chests, with full HP and shields (though they don't matter) as I wasn't shooting any NPCs nor was attacked by other players.
Going from one portal to another, I noticed DD mine and intended to "stomp" it, but there was a bunch of bonus boxes nearby that I picked. When I resumed towards the portal, another DD mine came into visual range, close to the first one. None of then were glaring red, but when it detonated the screen flashed white so I guess it was deployed by someone with Detonation maxed out in pilot bio.
But still, unless it is possible to stack multiple DD mines, one mine should not be able to kill a ship. BTW, Boss Devolarium took the kill credit.
Any ideas on how is this possible?

    Hello bisphenol,

Group of players usually put many mines in the same spot do destroy player ship it can take up to 3-4 mines to destroy a ship. With formation and max out PP. I personally do that with my crew :) I don't think this will get ever change as the mechanics are working as they should. I would recommend to be careful when you fly around :)

  3. This situation was first seen during the Spaceball event we just had and was accredited to the dynamics of the event, BUT destroying a Goliath with only ONE DDM should be impossible.

Help me understand how to stack mines perfectly, as I find it difficult to just sit on top of another ship perfectly.

Hello Mod_Toby, thanks for the explanation. But I am curious as well as HelpMeHelpYou about the proper technique to stack them exactly one on another, so they look like only one mine. I understand that multiple DD mines are lethal, just lacking the understanding how to plant them in a described way.
Actually, DD mine shouldn't kill Phoenix either or any other ship, as its damage (without modifiers like pilot bio) is 25% of ship's HP. And I am aware of similar cases during the special Spaceball, but that event is now over and the mine damage should be back to normal.
Also, I remember seeing misaligned mines near clan bases but one can immediately say there are three mines and not one. Unless there is a special technique (or exploit?) to line up multiple mines on the exact same spot, this should be impossible.

  5. I know the base attackers seem to be able to stack themselves so only 1 ship can be attacked at a time, I have never been able to stack on anyone perfectly, and this method of deploying mines would be the only way to get them close to being stacked, timing is everything as you have just a few seconds before they will explode on you. But as you say misaligned would be closer to the actual setting from multiple ships as this is the only way to get them together without exploding the other.

Stacking ships is easy. If you are in a group, you just use the function to find one or the team members. It flies your ship right on top of him.

It's very simple you must be in group with players and you can fly to the player position or if you more advanced player you will be able to do it manually by flying perfectly on player.

Do you have any questions in this matter or can I lock the thread ?

I understand the general technique, but it requires group effort and good communication e.g. via teamspeak or discord. One player chooses the place, the others in his group follow to his position. Then one must give a sign/order for everyone to deploy their mines at the same time and fly away.
However, where I found two mines (and I believe the other was "stacked" as well), it was at the mid edge of the map, no strategical position whatsoever.
It looked more like a remnant of a pvp fight than careful effort of a group. Because as I mentioned, even clan bases do not have DD mines aligned so perfectly, and one would expect that a base deserves more attention than a random spot on the edge of the map.

Yeah, basically you can. I just wanted to know if the mine damage is back to normal because I still think this was a single mine that popped me.
